There was no viable opposition under previous Labour leaders. Blair swung the Party so far to the right that it became a softened down version of the Conservative Party. They didn't oppose they simply tried to tweak proposed government legislation.

The problem with the Labour Party now isn't Jeremy Corbyn or the mainstream members. It's the large group of PLP members who think the Party should stay right wing even though it's been useless. They think it gives them a better chance of staying on the gravy train. It's time the people of this country had a choice. Mainstream members have chosen JC by a huge majority. Doesn't that tell you something about what people want? My non-political daughter is now a Labour Party member. She chose to do that because of JC.

JC is fighting against his own PLP and the right wing main steam media. The PLP give interviews and make claims which criticise JC and the people who voted for him which are taken up by the media and used to undermine JC and the Party. JC was elected twice by massive majorities but the PLP don't like it. They only like democracy when it suits them.

Labour was never meant to be a watered down Conservative Party. It's time it went back to it's roots.

I'm not a member of Momentum and I don't know anyone who is. I just know that JC obviously has some appeal as the Labour Party now has the largest membership by far of any political party in this country.

No majority for any opposition unless some Tories vote with labour or abstain.

And next year there are the boundaries changes when labour will lose most seats come the general election.

SORRY "Anniebach" I forgot to include the lib dems in that list,but as I have no idea how they did in the last election I dont know if they have decent numbers.We have just ONE lib dem MP ,known as Carmichael the liar...found guilty of lying abouth the first minister and the French Consular in Scotland yet walked free from court and got a charity to pay his court fees....politicians eh? Couldn't make it up!

From this month there will be NO benefit sanctions in Scotland,now if the Labour party could agree to work WITH the SNP and Greens etc in Westminster maybe they could call a halt to these abhorrent sanctions in Englland too,instead they abstain.....in effect SUPPORTING the Tories .

I am not getting at you, I am disagreeing with you. Who I want as leader ? I have answered this several times , you must hsve ignored those threads, understandable becsuse Corbyn was criticised.

Try googling for info on Corbyn only staying to keep the seat warm untill the conference when there will be pressure to change the way the leader is elected, fewer MP's and more members get a vote, Momentum are working hard and are determined to get another militant elected.

I do fight for the homeless, Annie.

When my husband was working, he designed hostels. We have always worked for the homeless. It's people like me who fund Shelter and Crisis, and I've worked in soup kitchens before.
I have no qualms about looking homeless people in the face, and buying them food and drinks.

However, you have your preconceived ideas about me, so I don't know why I am bothered. You carry on putting down the Labour party.

Yes they could have and the government could still carry on, posting daily about this is a waste of time , untill there is a labour or lib government nothing will change . Even a strong oposition would be some help but we are heading for a larger Tory victory at the next election.

I remember that the new health and social care bill came in on April 1st 2013. They obviously like that date, and making fools out of us.

Then Boris says we wouldn't be so keen to use the NHS for no good reason if we had to pay for it. Erm...Boris....we pay for the NHS through our taxes.

No benefits while he's in hospital, either, although they will probably be paying more to keep him there than if he was in his own home.
I've read of at least four new bits of legislation that the government has brought in on 29th, hidden from MSM.
I thought the idea of Brexit was to get rid of legislation.

And yet the MSM fail to report it or spin it so that it doesn't seem so bad.

A local man who suffers from bipolar was called in for assessment. The health professional sent in a report saying that he was fit for work. He got the letter, tried to kill himself and is now on a mental health ward because he is a danger to himself. Oddly he wasn't a danger to himself prior to the decision that denied his illness. He was trying to rebuild his life and was even volunteering at a local community centre. Pushing himself out of his comfort zone. That's over now. Who knows when he will be safe to leave hospital and/or rebuild his confidence to it's pre-assessment level. This story won't reach the papers because the victim is so ashamed of his illness he keeps it a secret from all but a few. So most of those who will miss him being around won't realise what's happened.
