According to my Sunday paper i will be better off by £200 next year.
This is because Mr. Hammond will be reducing my tax burden. If you are a couple of pensioners with a combined income of between £30,000 and 100,000 then that probably means you too will be the recipients of his generosity. Over £100000 you save £1000.
We are much nearer £30,000 and we can manage without the extra £3.85.
There are much more worthwhile beneficiaries than us.
There are approx.10Million pensioners in the UK some of them will be single, some will not have an income as high as 30K. but there will be enough of us in the comfortable enough bracket.
I'm prepared to donate my £200 to a fund to build houses for our homeless if I could be sure that the money would be managed properly, honestly and transparently. If only 2Mil. of us did that we could house a lot of people.
I do understand that it's not quite that simple, neither is it impossible.
Una Stubbs grandfather Ebenezer Howard managed to build Letchworth and Welwyn without any personal money.
Who could we trust with a job like that?

Certainly not any current or ex politicians.

How about Mary Portas, Kevin McCloud and the chap who started the big issue?
