I agree, it shows tendencies towards paranoia - I know I should not say that as I am not a psychiatrist and have never met him - but I am not making a diagnosis just saying that certain behaviour patterns tend to make one wonder!

His reactions to any perceived slight are extreme.

Even the most junior cub reporter wouldn't have much difficulty in making Trump appear obnoxious, incompetent and unstable. In any case, the public can read his tweets for themselves and make up their own minds - no media involved.

Yes and no. Yes I suppose, but partly it appears so divisive because the media in particular are making it so.

Absolutely.

I'm not going to be a 'juror by internet/social media'. I have admitted I would love it to be true, because I think Trump is vile, but I expect it will never be proved.

However, I doubt if it will be very long before he does do something which can be proved and possibly impeached. It seems Trump just can't help himself. He doesn't seem to be in control of himself, so goodness knows how he's going to control the wealthiest and most powerful country in the world.

I have visions of Putin sipping his vodka and smirking to himself. (No idea if Putin drinks vodka.)

I quite like him, he makes me chuckle. He's certainly going to ruffle a few "staid" feathers.

What is likeable about a foul-mouthed, racist, misogynist who accuses EVERYONE, but those in his own family, or closest associates, of being liars about everything 24/7? He does not like most Republicans!! Hates McCain, called him stupid for getting caught as a POW?

This is a seriously scary deranged person. The danger is bigger than his behaviour. It is the example he sets.

He has made it acceptable for people to act as he himself does in their own lives. A terrible example for children.

One thing stands out. He claims he pays no taxes ('cause he's smart) and he will not release his returns. Make of that what you will, but what would happen if we US citizens decided to stop paying our taxes? Hmmmm? They'd have the IRS down on our heads so fast... but wait, he's more important that the peasants he is fooling.

I will not be visiting my US family or friends again for at least the next 4 years.

I heard Trump commenting on this and he said, 'I was in Moscow for the Miss World contest and I said to people 'There are cameras all over the place, be careful!' Implication being that he didn't do any of those things he's accused of because he knew he was being filmed by hidden cameras.

I don't understand why anybody ( intelligent) cannot just wait until this matter is either proved/ disproved.If the video/ camera shots are so poor that it's not clear who is involved, then it should be kicked out as evidence.Very easy to manufacture this sort of thing.In such important circumstances evidence must be A1.

As for the rest of your post I have no quibble.

I am interested in the Buzzfeed , so far uncorroborated report and the ease to which some people have come to rely on sources which I find lacking for their gossip, information.

I think I have been vocal over the 'Fake News' industry and I am not saying this is a true or false story.

I am concerned with the damage what we now call 'Fake News', good old fashioned 'dirt digging' as it was once called , coming into our Psyche and the ease with which some people soak it up.

I would have thought that was self evident! But in any argument and you use the same tactic, it is normal to give quotes supporting your view.

But I am always inclined to give greater support to a view that is as I indicated is both without hyperbole, is nuanced and intelligent. Give me an example of such qualities in Trumps rhetoric. "I really wanted to fuck her ......even though she is married" and "grab her pussy" hardly merits such qualities, but does in my opinion indicate a certain attitude and inclination.

It could be true, it could be false and I care not a jot for Trump but if that is the premise of believing an uncorroborated story/report then where the hell would that lead to.

Yes Varian you are right, a lot of his supporters seem willing to forgive him anything ( as long as he does right by them of course) and a lot of his detractors are willing to believe anything that is printed about him.
Not an ideal situation for a President of the USA is it?
He needs to take all the advice that comes his way, I have never heard a President say the things he does ( in public!) before.

Radio 4 this morning - interview with a Republican who had, prior to the election, had signed a letter with other republicans stating that Trump is a danger to national security. That for us, and the row is a real worry.

They keep however talking about the checks and balances system in the American, so it will be interesting to see how that operates, because I think it may well be tested to its limits

It's very, very worrying the way Trump deals with criticism. Calling Meryl Streep 'over rated' when she clearly is not, calling Steele a 'failed spy' when he's highly regarded in his profession. All this sends the message that he is unable to deal with criticism of any kind and reacts like a child.

Any rational adult would of course wish to defend himself, but not by using such terms as 'sleasebags' in public tweets. All he knows is to hit out. To him you are either 'for' him or 'agin''him. At the moment he is using twitter to react.

I am seriously worried that he will not be able to be contained and guided when he is president. And then how will he hit out at those he sees as 'agin' him when he has more power than just tweets?
