First blood to Trump

Trump will be inaugurated in 16 days time. Ford has recognised this new era.

How will his Junta of advisors deal with the political world?

Will Trump continue to govern by twitter?

Will his erratic behaviour stop?

Will he be less muddled in his thinking?

What will happen to NATO and article 5?

Will the world survive his environmental policy - such that it is?

Will America be able to contain him?

However - he may or may not be a narcissist but, according to other threads, we are not allowed to diagnose without having full psyciatric qualifications and without having met the patient.

wink

In view of Trump's Scottish heritage, I wonder if he has his eye on Scotland as the 51st state? He could reinstate the wall (s) and build coast to coast golf courses.
Be very afraid Ms Sturgeon.

Seriously, i do think we all have a lot to fear.

Elegran Thu 12-Jan-17 09:48:05

I have a feeling of deja vu ,too, it is not the first or even the second time that I have explained to a poster something I would have thought was very clear.

But so that ankers understands what I posted I shall spell out what I meant.

^He could follow the example of totalitarian leaders throughout the ages, and be his own secret service^ - leaders like Stalin, Hitler, Chairman Mao, were absolute rulers with as much power as any bloodthirsty medieval king, even if they kept up a pretence that they were doing the will of the people. They ruled by fear so they did not trust anyone. They spied on everyone, they spied on the spies in their spy networks, they had personal spies reporting directly to them, they appointed their own close family and cronies to oversee the running of the country but didn't even trust them and were quick to have them removed and executed on the least suspicion.

^He seems to be the only voice crying out that they are up to no good.^ I don't understand what you find difficult about that. If the secret service are up to no good, then other voices will be heard.

^He has been known to tell lies in the past, and change his story later^ It is a matter of record that he told lies publicly on various occasions and later claimed that he did not say that. A liar is a liar and a leopard doesn't chage its spots.

There are some impenetrable posts on here but Elegran's and Anya's are not amongst them.

daphnedill Thu 12-Jan-17 09:42:22

Ever heard of the Gestapo, Stasi, KGB or Mossad, Ankers?

daphnedill Thu 12-Jan-17 09:40:26

Is Trump aware that GlaxoSmithKline is a British company? Is he going to try and get American financiers to buy it? Let's hope that our government (Johnson, Fox, etc) supports any block to this happening.

whitewave Thu 12-Jan-17 09:32:42

The trouble with Trump and the truth or not of the dossier is that he comes with sexual baggage, and given his past behaviour it is absolutely possible to imagine him being involved with this sort of activity, thus leaving himself wide open to blackmail.

daphnedill Thu 12-Jan-17 09:25:25

Lewlew,

Your link didn't seem to work, but I think this one does:

Ana - you aren't alone in that feeling of deja vu.

The news from the USA is mesmerising and it's difficult not to see it as entertaining. It is too scary though, to fit into that category. The news conference yesterday was high drama but it was not presidential, in any way. I'm not crying out of r conventional president by the way, just one who appears honest, sincere and stable.

Ankers Thu 12-Jan-17 08:38:02

I agree with that post DB.

Good whitewave.

DaphneBroon Thu 12-Jan-17 08:29:58

Ankers dishonesty which goes off the scale needs to be exposed and spoken up about. It is all in the public domain anyway and as I said when you run for public office you forfeit the right to privacy on matters which cast doubt on your probity. Do you understand that word?
We are not talking dodging parking tickets here, although if you cannot be trusted with the "little" things, why should people trust you with the safety of the world?

whitewave Thu 12-Jan-17 08:22:05

No I'm saying Trump is a humbug and quite extraordinary, but not in a nice way.

Ankers Thu 12-Jan-17 08:20:45

False news -oh yes like the information Trump put out about Obama being a closet Muslim and that he wasn't born in the USA

Lets get this straight.

Are you saying two wrongs, or however many wrongs make a right[still not at all sure that saying that phrase like that makes the slightest bit of sense, but oh well].

Ankers Thu 12-Jan-17 08:18:59

x post

Ankers Thu 12-Jan-17 08:18:27

whitewave, why shouldnt he try?
I have no doubt that he will not win all his battles though.

whitewave Thu 12-Jan-17 08:18:01

False news -oh yes like the information Trump put out about Obama being a closet Muslim and that he wasn't born in the USA.

Ankers Thu 12-Jan-17 08:17:02

Well you explain it then please DB.

What does
He could follow the example of totalitarian leaders throughout the ages, and be his own secret service
How can someone be their own secret service?

and these
He seems to be the only voice crying out that they are up to no good. How can everyone be wrong except oor Donald

The CIA and the FBI are charged with the security of the USA. This president-elect would apparently rather take the word of Putin and the Federal Security System of Russia than those charge with keeping his nation safe

People in the past have been hung and in prison for things they have not done, but because they had such a bad record, nearly everyone just assumed that they must be guilty for that crime as well. No questions asked, and certainly must be totally guilty.

I dont understand that way of thinking. Do you?

whitewave Thu 12-Jan-17 08:16:57

Oh yes his attack on the pharmaceutical industry. That will include Smith Klein which produces many of the drugs in the U.K. for the USA. Trump isn't happy about that. He wants the jobs to go back to the US. Well good luck with that.

First he is taking on a very powerful industry, and second he is requesting that the industry spends huge amounts on building plant and hiring highly skilled scientists - most at PhD level and start producing drugs in the USA.

DaphneBroon Thu 12-Jan-17 08:01:35

Ankers you must be aware of what is going on. Neither Elegran nor Anya has written impenetrable posts so what is there to "not understand"?

whitewave Thu 12-Jan-17 07:59:35

Oh anya I've just read your post to ankersgrin

whitewave Thu 12-Jan-17 07:58:45

That was on radio 4 just after 7. What a lark it all is grin- if it wasn't so potentially serious.angry

Anya Thu 12-Jan-17 07:40:55

Not watched the news yet WW

whitewave Thu 12-Jan-17 07:30:25

There is talk of impeachment

Anya Thu 12-Jan-17 07:28:17

There must just be the top of your head showing Ankers

Ankers Thu 12-Jan-17 06:30:17

AB, as I have tried to say, I didnt think just two, I never thought just two, I didnt have two specific ones in mind. I wanted to write many, actually many many, but I didnt think the saying would make sense then so I wrote two.

Ankers Thu 12-Jan-17 06:28:44

Anya, I dont understand your post any more than I understood Elegran's. Perhpas you are both talking about something in the news that I have not seen?

But if you are both trying to say that the secret services have to be right and act clean at all times, then I think that would be naive.
