First blood to Trump

Trump will be inaugurated in 16 days time. Ford has recognised this new era.

How will his Junta of advisors deal with the political world?

Will Trump continue to govern by twitter?

Will his erratic behaviour stop?

Will he be less muddled in his thinking?

What will happen to NATO and article 5?

Will the world survive his environmental policy - such that it is?

Will America be able to contain him?

Anniebach Wed 11-Jan-17 22:28:51

Anker, I wuestioned your claim there were two wrongs , one was mocking a disabled person, what was the other?

Anya Wed 11-Jan-17 22:16:11

The CIA and the FBI are charged with the security of the USA. This president-elect would apparently rather take the word of Putin and the Federal Security System of Russia than those charge with keeping his nation safe.

Does that sound like the thought processes of a rational person?

DaphneBroon Wed 11-Jan-17 22:02:06

It is of course your personal opinion Ankers and you are entitled to it. However many reliable sources think otherwise and have grave reservations about Trump's probity.
Regarding criticism, I think that once a person aspires to public office, he can expect to be under closer scrutiny than the private individual. Trump's dodgy business dealings, his questionable personal behaviour and his frankly shocking sexist and racist attitudes are clearly out there in the public domain.

Ankers Wed 11-Jan-17 21:44:49

Elegran - sorry but I dont understand your post. Not saying the post is wrong though.

DB - just to be clear, I am talking about him being innocent conerning the russian smear. Not necessarily anything else.

AB - I did start to write, many wrongs dont make a right, but I dont think that is really the correct saying?

Trump is a vile human being
I dont know if you realise that that is a judgemental sentence. Saying he has probably done vile things isnt being judgemental.

^ I have not seen anything which proves he is the innocent you defend^

But then we are back to what whitewave was doing. And I dont think you would want anyone to make up fake things about you either, and then get someone or a newspaper to say that the case about you is unproven.

Anniebach Wed 11-Jan-17 21:24:54

Two wrongs Anker? i watched him mock the disabled person, I have not seen anything which proves he is the innocent you defend

mcem Wed 11-Jan-17 21:01:48

And sometimes you have to admit you're digging yourself into a very deep hole (yet again) !!

DaphneBroon Wed 11-Jan-17 20:52:29

Ankers Wed 11-Jan-17 17:49:01
Looks to me like Trump may be innocent
If so, that is appalling that he is being smeared like that

Looks to me like you might be in a minority Ankers however there are no doubt thousands of redneck Americans who can see no wrong.

Sometimes you really have to look at what is said and written and by whom. Reputable sources and all that. hmm

Elegran Wed 11-Jan-17 20:44:39

He could follow the example of totalitarian leaders throughout the ages, and be his own secret service, or use them himself for nefarious purposes. However, that does defeat the purpose of having an independent agency which can seek out wrongdoing anywhere and by anyone - including by the highest and most powerful in the land, that is the president himself. That is part of the system of checks and balances that make sure no-one becomes too powerful. He should not be above the law any more than anyone else is.

He seems to be the only voice crying out that they are up to no good. How can everyone be wrong except oor Donald? He has been known to tell lies in the past, and change his story to suit humself.

Ankers Wed 11-Jan-17 20:35:52

I would have thought that you would very much agree Anniebach that two wrongs dont make a right.

Beam, but what is he to do about the press? He calls them evil? I wouldnt go that far, but it is looking increasingly like he has a point.

No idea about the Secret Service. But if they are up to no good either, what should he do?

Anniebach Wed 11-Jan-17 20:05:51

Is repeating an allegation worse than mocking a disabled person. Trump is a vile human being.

Beammeupscottie Wed 11-Jan-17 19:57:26

Grannypiper.

A better word would be Art. Trump is uneducated in the Political Arts. So stupid to upset the Secret Service and the Press.

Ana Wed 11-Jan-17 19:22:05

Ankers, what on earth are you trying to prove? You're certainly pushing it a bit on one or two threads. I'm getting a sense of déja vu...

Anniebach Wed 11-Jan-17 19:19:36

During a tv appearance during the presidential battle Trump actually addressed Russia and told them to hack Hilary's mail.

At least he has proven something, he said he is God made - so God can make a mistake

Ankers Wed 11-Jan-17 19:15:22

I think he is probably far from innocent Anya, but that does not give people the right to do possible smearing.

damage the reputation of (someone) by false accusations; slander:
"someone was trying to smear her by faking letters

No matter who they are or what they have done or not done or might do.

Elegran Wed 11-Jan-17 19:10:24

Move to Aberdeenshire and see what they think there.

Anya Wed 11-Jan-17 19:09:24

'false things' - you still talking about Trump? You think he's an innocent man then Ankers ha! Ha! Ha! grin

Elegran Wed 11-Jan-17 19:08:26

Think of this, ankers - If no-one were allowed to criticise him, how would anyone know that he is very likely to have done things that he should not? Would he appear as a gentle, truthful, diplomatic example of a perfect statesman, guiding his country skilfully through the minefields of interacting with other countries? As an honourable and considerate multi-national bsinessman, and not a carpet-bagging braggart?

A great deal is known about the man and his business and personal practices. He bullies women and boasts of grabbing them by the pussy, he denigrates anyone who doesn't praise him he puts pressure on individuals to bow to his wishes and on governments to bias national decisions in his favour.

In Scotland he has given plenty of evidence of that in the steamroller way he treats his neighbours. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Forbes_(farmer)

He has bought one of Scotland two most prestigious golf courses, Turnberry, and boasted about how much he was doing for the Scottish economy.
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3832893/Donald-Trump-s-Scottish-golf-courses-lost-9million-year.html

He has built a new pristine new golf development in Aberdeenshire, angering the neighbours there too by his bullying tactics
" . . .why he dislikes Trump. It's because he's a bully, Milne says — and a really bad neighbour.

"They have threatened us at a few stages," he says. "We've had the water lines cut, the power lines cut, the phone lines cut — sometimes accidentally, but not always. He has lied to us, he's lied about us."

Milne says Trump tried to use the Scottish version of eminent domain to force locals to sell their property. And Trump has publicly insulted his neighbors, calling their homes ugly."

And he seems to think that he has also bought the right to decide on the future of a windfarm near the Aberdeenshire development.
www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/jul/22/trump-resumes-fight-against-windfarm-near-his-golf-course

These are not vague untruths about the man. They are genuine accusations by real people.

The likelihood of his using similar tactics in the many other countries where he has business interests are very high, as are the chances of him doing the same in governing america and conducting international relations.

Ankers Wed 11-Jan-17 18:54:19

ankers so you want me to stop criticising a world leader who may indirectly or directly affect this country

No, but I very much hope you care about truth. And dont think possible smearing is perfectly fine.

They are definitely on the back foot and defensive.
You would be defensive too if people spread false things about you.
You have been already.

Anya Wed 11-Jan-17 18:31:58

Go for it WW - all but the totally gullible can see this man for what he is....or are there actually a few who agree with him? Surely not shock

whitewave Wed 11-Jan-17 18:26:00

ankers so you want me to stop criticising a world leader who may indirectly or directly affect this country. The American intelligence service has compiled a document implicating Trump, and the past few days we have seen the unedifying spectacle of the president-elect exchanging blows with the very service whose job it is to keep America safe. You want me to stop talking about the issues that the media are investigating. You want me to stop talking about a known mysoginist. I could go on. I won't, and you won't stop me I'm afraid.

grannypiper Wed 11-Jan-17 18:13:24

Beammeupscottie"Trump is not a politician; he doesn't understand the game" that about sums up what Is wrong with politicians, it's all a game to them !

Ankers Wed 11-Jan-17 18:11:52

I hope you don't stoop to the personal ankers

So why is it all right for someone, or many people to do it to Trump?

You have no proof whatsoever that it is true. Do you?

Do you care about that?

If I were to say you are x and y, and you may or not be x or y, and then you say that is absolutely fake. And then I get an internet friend to come on here and say that you are not exonerated, what would you think about that?

It doesnt seem like you would like it very much, but you find it more than ok that another human being is experiencing exactly that.

whitewave Wed 11-Jan-17 18:11:42

grin I have never seen anything like it!

ffinnochio Wed 11-Jan-17 18:09:49

Well, that PC was certainly different! shock

whitewave Wed 11-Jan-17 18:05:59

No that he got it right!! I hope you don't stoop to the personal ankers

Trump will fight like mad that's his way. During the last media thing in June he said "I hope that Russia hacks her - Clintons - information" hmm!
