Trump will be inaugurated in 16 days time. Ford has recognised this new era.
How will his Junta of advisors deal with the political world?
Will Trump continue to govern by twitter?
Will his erratic behaviour stop?
Will he be less muddled in his thinking?
What will happen to NATO and article 5?
Will the world survive his environmental policy - such that it is?
Will America be able to contain him?
Pround that a British Spook might have got things completely wrong?
Looks to me like Trump may be innocent.
If so, that is appalling that he is being smeared like that.
whitewave. I could say awful things about you. And then others could say on my behalf that the case is unproven.
I feel quite proud it was a British Spook who got the information
Just looked at the New York Times and they didn't exonerate Trump, what they have said is the case in unproven.
So he's running true to form and calling people he doesn't agree with "sick" and the media he doesn't agree with he's giving out veiled threats
Trump is not a politician; he doesn't understand the game.
Also, to say he is putting his business interests into the hand of his sons and therefore relinquishing influence is rubbish.
All this is so "I Claudius" or "The Godfather"
he took about 3 questions!!!!!
This is all about Trump utterly peculiar. I'd be a tad miffed if I was an American.
I've never heard a speech like it. Quite bizarre.
They are definitely on the back foot and defensive.
Trump spending time complaining about the press what an idiot.
Taking on the intelligent agency head on. Denying everything -well surprise surprise!! What a way to start a presidency.
Populists always divide the nation. His use of language is getting more and more bizarre. See Obama has reduced the high alert to a lesser one as it is more difficult to press the red button at a lesser level, and they want to ensure that Trump hasn't got direct access as he would at high alert as he is so unstable they can't be sure of his reaction. Perhaps it is time to review the purchase of a nuclear bunker.
Lewlew, my American friends daughter and her friends will be marching. It's great to see opposition to Trump but tragic that America is divided and that such an unstable narcissist is to be president.
I think I meant sworn in but he is showing signs of being well worn out.
As a matter of interest, will the Donald stand behind a bullet-proof screen if/when he is worn in?. I would.
Rinouchka The first movie or TV programme series can't be far behind!
Of course he will try to censor any film. Wonder how the press conference will go today. Set for 4pm US time, so I will likely be in bed reading. Might get up to check CNN, though.
My US friend who lives on Capitol Hill is going to be marching in the women's protest on the 21st! I hope she sends me photos.

The mind boggles, Lewlew.
Let us see what is proven.
Tawdry sex is nothing new, but blackmail of a presidential candidate and control of one country by another is something else.
Field day for writers of political fiction.....
Oh my... a golden shower on the Obamas' bed in the Moscow Ritz Carlton?

Trump giving a press thing today isn't he? Will be worth a watch. I hope they ask pertinent questions. Or perhaps Trump will try to control the questions asked. Is that possible in these exchanges?
Bit like Farage who is dictating the question of the day.
I do not think that Obama stood back and watched others suffer.
Others have said in this thread and, I repeat, his actions were thwarted by a Republican majority in Congress.
If only, a solution, solutions to IS were available earlier but the Middle East has no easy solutions and to suggest otherwise is folly. This is one of the worries re Trump.
A Statesman without integrity but quick to react is a danger to all, not just to IS. Trump has yet to show that he even has an understanding of the concept. But we can hope?
ankers undoubtedly many would criticise Obama over his actions in the Middle East. If I have any doubt is is when he said that there was a red line. But when Assad did indeed cross it Obama failed to follow his threat up. However, I think that although he could have been accused of poor judgement in this instant, there were many areas that I as a social democrat would applaud him, and there is no need to go into these as I am sure you know what they are.
I think the characteristics of his term are different from many other presidents, and for me the ones that stands out was his intellect, his calmness, his integrity and sense of justice. Qualities you would be hard pushed to find in Trump.
What if, what if.... the singer started out agreeing to the verse, then delivered it in Spanish... !!
But I think that Evancho girl will sing. A singer in the MT choir quit the choir when he realised they'd likely be singing. They have sung at many Republican swearings-in.
Integrity is one thing.
Not helping others but merely watching is not behaviour that I think of as morally right, or having integrity.
I realise I will now be feathered and tarred. But there are many people in life who try and get through life without ruffling feathers and try and look, and largely succeed, to appear full of integrity.
Most of us can do that but perhaps may be we shouldn't.
Ok. I am going to be blunt and controversial here.
If there was no scandals, great.
[I have mentioned before that I didnt understand the Trump/Russia thing].
But to me, if someone has the power, but does not intervene to stop people[IS] killing many many innocent people, then that is a huge scandal and a disgrace.
There are other things also, where he did not appear to act, when people thought he should.
See another potential scandal -this time that Russian intelligence has stuff on Trump.
In contrast to this already scandal ridden president elect, America is just saying goodbye to a President whose term in office was entirely scandal free.
Politicians with such a degree of integrity should by treasured.
Jeff Sessions is indeed to be Attorney General. He claims never to have supported the KKK or to have opposed the rights of black Americans.
Jared Kushner, Mr T's son in law is to be a special advisor. He says he won't take a salary.
Does anyone have up to date information about the Trumpeters plans for his business empire. I read some weeks ago he planned to relinquish any responsibility, hand over power to his children. How would that work? I find it hard to believe someone like the Donald doesn't deal in stocks and shares. Mr T says he dislikes Nissan because they are building in Mexico not the US, price of Nissan shares plummet - or alternatively, Mr T says he's pleased Ford will now build in the USA not Mexico, Ford shares go through the roof.
