Trump is a loose cannon and I'm not in the least bit surprised that his temporary ban won't impinge on countries that he has business links with. He's passing this temporary ban off as "protecting the American people" whilst ignoring that Saudi Arabia is also responsible for terrorist acts (but he has trade deals with SA). The man is arse.

Did you also see the man in tears on the news as his brother was due in and not allowed to come to the US. He hadn't seen his brother for over twenty years.

Trump is an appalling man, and we do not need to do business with him.
Does anybody have anything to say about the fact that countries with which he has business deals are not affected?

No one, as far as have seen, has said that what Trump has done is OK, durham. What has been pointed out is that this isn't the first time that such draconian action has been taken. Obama spoke, many times, of banning countries, predominantly Muslim countries, from entering the US. And he did that in 2011 and it barely made news headlines, never mind world wide castigation. If a discussion is to be had, it should be balanced and quoting facts, not conjecture. That's all.

A UNIVERSITY of Glasgow vet has been blocked from coming back to Scotland after being caught up in President Donald Trump's ban on refugees entering the US.

It is understood Hamaseh Tayari, who majors in veterinary anaesthesia the university, was due to fly back to Glasgow on Saturday but was denied entry onto a flight because it went via New York and she would need a transit visa, which was revoked.

Tayari, who grew up in Italy, is a UK resident, and holds an Iranian passport said: “This has really shocked me. We just discovered [what Trump did] at the airport when we went to check in. I want people to know that this is not just happening to refugees."

She had been on holiday in Costa Rica with her boyfriend last week and both are now trying to find an alternative route back.

It is understood they have been looking at taking a flight to Madrid on January 30, but it will cost them £2,000 and then they would have to find their way back to Glasgow.

“We had been saving for months for this holiday and it will cost me a month’s salary just to get home,” said Ms Tayari, who has been studying towards her European Diploma in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia at the University of Glasgow's Small Animal Hospital “I am destroyed. I did not know that I could cry for so long. It feels like the beginning of the end. How this is possible? I am really afraid about what is going on.”

rigby I have no argument with you there. 3 months, 2 months, 1 week, it's outrageous no matter how long it is. But if you'd read my post properly, you'd have seen that the point I was making was that Obama did the very same thing, 6 years ago, but for twice as long. There is/was nothing in my post to suggest that I was supporting Trump, simply that history has very quickly repeated itself.

Only temporary? Firstly you do realise don't you that those not being deported are looking at being detained for three months? In the US prison system surrounded by people many of whom will believe they are terrorists? But hey it's only 3 months detention for completely innocent people.

But RT; NBC; USA Today; Fox News and CNN are all reporting that it's a 3 month temporary ban, I cannot find any reference to any country being permanently banned from USA by Trump or anyone else.
