The demonisation of the Unions is a legacy of the Thatcher era and understandably perpetuated by the media whose owners succesfully removed any such input from their own arena. Unions are organisations of working people and not some autonomous beast seeking to wreck society. But hell why let the truth get in the way of a good, scary, fairy story.

You have got to blame the Unions. If Ed had not been selected, brother David would have probably been PM instead of Cameron. Fast forward to no EU ref. and avoidance of current worry over this divorce from Europe.
The Unions were shortsighted and locked into outdated ideas. A leader of any Party, in order to win, has to "sell" himself?herself. Why do the Unions pick such plonkers that will never appeal to the middle ground?

I can only think it is because people don't look at policies but believe anything the press say about personalities. And that Mr Cameron was such a nice man.

I don't know Annie, but it would be interesting to know why people liked his idea but didn't vote for him.

I don't think the comment was anything to do with a Tory government adopting Milliband's ideas far more to do with why someone would approve of what they admit is a good idea but not support the party/person who proposed that idea. My conclusion is that people believe the media and the particular way the person is represented. So Milliband became Red-Ed and none of his policies or ideas could surpass that although they are now acknowledged to be good. It's yet another example of how we are 'sold' politicians.

Well, Petra it was certainly a rude; childish and silly remark to make to what appears to have been a perfectly reasonable post. Even if we don't agree with a particular post, the more adult contributors amongst us would refrain from making any spiteful or personal remarks to another poster. In this particular instance, rigidity of outlook and parochialism was probably the culprit.

Pathetic, Ankers. Tory voters did not vote for Milliband'so ideas

This post perfectly demonstrates how a supporter, of any political party, can become so narrow minded and blinkered in their support of their party, that they have lost slight what the aim of politics is. Any right minded adult would be able to recognise that, if "an idea" is a good one, and benefits society as a whole, it matters not one jot, who came up with the idea in the first place.
To attempt to patent "ideas" is a childish and parochial outlook and not one that you would expect to see on the news and politics forum.

What an odd comment durhamjen, "pathetic" in response to Ankers saying she didn't mind whose policies TM 'steals' as long as they're good for the country. That was exactly my thought and I am not a tory voter.
