I go with you,Elegran. We are certainly trying to wing it - on a wing and a prayer.
When a political leader lies on their CV - can you trust them?
this weekend saw the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and Jeremy Coorbyn both north of the border giving us "the facts" about Nationalism .They couldn't BE more wrong ,Scottish Nationalism ,unlike English Nationalism or Britnats is INCLUSIVE we dont care where you were born if you live here you're Scottish by Coice. Here is a link to what the group English scots for YES have to say about the interference from Mr Khan and Mr Corbyn ...it might surprise you.I have found a lot of people on here are very misinformed about Scotland and our efforts towards independence ,lets see if this helps .http://www.englishscotsforyes.org/2017/02/26/on-nationalism/
On Nationalism… – English Scots for YES
Many of you will have seen the comments of London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan over the weekend to Scottish Labour’s annual conference; many of you will share the outrage felt by our members, by supporters of Scottish independence, and indeed across the Scottish political spectrum at what we feel is a complet...

And I suppose population wise about 85% of the population is English too Paddy so it is a balance and we have had Scots and Welsh first ministers aplenty too. I just think it would work better properly devolved with England having its own parliament, assembly call it what you will so we all make our own rules for our own countries where it doesn't involve several or all of us.
now I am out of this thread for good,I thought I'd check and see what opinion was on it and I've found the same arrogance that I have encountered before .The "superior" tone is appalling .I shouldn't have expected anything else .
Or on the English side - The Wangle anthem, the Wangle Channel!
Wangles NfK? Nop, this is Wales , that's it , just think , The Wangles border or the Wangles mountains, and horror of horrors - the Wangle Eistefford , The Wangle Bards ,
Breathing fire Annie! Did you hear on Farming Today this morning a new daffodil has been seen growing wild in Wales. It's red!
Nobody is trying to create disharmony we'd love to have England as good neighbours ..just not as masters .Most of us have english family or friends we DONT HATE THE ENGLISH ,we want rid of westminster rule. How difficult is that to understand? 85% of MP's are ENGLISH .....so please tell me how on earth we would ever get a fair deal in anything....answers on the back of a postage stamp ...because there is no way we are ever heard !!
I personally would be happy if the UK could be four separate countries each with their own parliament and raising their own taxes but together as a federation for stuff like defence and borders. The English Parliament could be more central too (Milton Keynes!)
Thank you Niggly X we have fought hard to be recognised as a country not a principality .
Granny23, oh that union flag, grrrrrr.
NfK, slam bang in the middle would be just perfect
What about Wangles then Annie?!
I've always thought there should be a dragon right in the middle of the Union flag.
Annie at least you would surely be represented on the new flag - white background and GIANT dragon on top of a Red Cross maybe???
I agree Annie, bit patronising!! You're right, Wales has no choice, but unlike Scotland, Wales has I think conversations with Westminster without this relentless carping and whingeing, that makes any dealings with the Scottish government so wearisome. varian I hear what you say, will bear it in mind and try and take a balanced view. I know the nationalists are doing their best to create disharmony between our two countries to get their way and we should all be mindful of that.
Wales has no choice. Certaintly not Wingland. England and Wales.
Granny23 Re your question aimed at niggly if you dont mind i will give you my take on it. I am a Scot born in S.W.Scotland but have lived in N. Scotland,Mainland Europe and in the shires of England but i am finally back living in my county of birth. I voted to stay within our union and to leave the European union. In my experience many Scots who have never lived anywhere else but their homeland don't have a balanced view of the union.
Maybe the Scots who live "down South" can see that "the big bad English" are just like us, striving to make a better life for ourselves. Since returning to my county of birth i am constantly told that i must be mad coming back here as life down South is a doddle ! that speaks volumes in regard to how blinkered some Scots are.
That is exactly what the separatists are trying to do nellie
Please don't think all Scots are like that. The fact is that most are not. Most Scots, whether they live in Scotland, England , Wales or NI are happy to be British and reject all this greivance politics and division.
Far from being ruled by one Tory MP, the rest of the country has to put up with the constant posturing of the ludicrously over-represented SNP. Do not let them succeed in destroying the United Kingdom. Brexit is quite bad enough.
Frankly at the end of the day a lot of people would be glad to see the back of Scotland. If the vote was extended to the whole of the UK, the result would almost certainly be ' on your bike ' Anything to stop the almost continuous whining coming out of Scotland who lets face do pretty well out of the union, in fact better than we who wearily shell out year in year out to this fractious country. Independence would be a relief all round.
I dont get why so many of you are against Scottish Independence, surely if you had the chance to change your country for the better you'd jump at it...in fact isn'y THAT what Brexit was supposed to be for many of you? Less immigration ,350million for the NHS etc etc etc .WE dont have a say in how ENGLAND runs its affairs so please just give us a bit of respect and let us run our affairs ourselves.Currently we are in charge of only 17% ....and we're doing fine ...much better in many ways than westminster. How much more could we do if we were in control of everything in our own country ...people that WE can sack if they dont do things how we want them done...we cant ever sack the tories...yet we're ruled by ONE Tory MP !
Love Wingland! I'm Winglish! So I'd be speaking Winglish and Americans could stick with English?
An Irish friend suggested, in jest, that the new country should be called:
the Formerly United Kingdom of England and Wales
I think the matter should be left entirely to the citizens of the new country, but wonder if their chosen name might be over-ruled if it comes from the BoatyMcBoatFace tradition
Spoke for the party
Well, Mr Salmond did say that the referendum was a 'once in a generation opportunity' and as he was leader of the SNP at the time one would assume he spoke for the part - or do we now have to assume he was lying? Or that he did a U turn when he didn't get the result he wanted? His U turn was before the UK referendum btw but after the general election.
I realise that many politicians are professional wrigglers.
DJ England + Wales = Wingland?
Although he denied it, Alex Salmond did actually say that the referendum of 2014 was once in a generation. It was on record so words had to be eaten!!
Trouble is people say one thing then when it doesn't suit they twist what the said to mean something else. To be honest I don't personally care what Scotland does NI and Wales the same if that's what their population wants. Can't see the Unionists of NI going quietly and Wales I think is just too poor to strike out on their own but who knows. You may get your wish dj and see England in the gutter which I know would delight you.
