And there are some interesting choices!! www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-39296513

Not sure about Noel Fielding. hmm Do you think he's meant to be the 'Sue' replacement?

Blinko Sun 19-Mar-17 08:30:17

LSP - indeedy!

LumpySpacedPrincess Sat 18-Mar-17 23:23:35

Blinko, I would be bloody delighted if it was true, fingers crossed eh!

Ana Sat 18-Mar-17 18:14:47

I fully expect him to be involved in pie-throwing at some stage...oh dear!

TerriBull Sat 18-Mar-17 18:09:52

When one of my sons was a teenager he was a fan of the Mighty Boosh and he introduced me to Noel Fielding who is very funny, much more so than Mel and Sue, who aren't very funny at all imo and were not only superfluous to the programme, they tediously overdid the double entendres, their delivery was boringly predictable as the weeks rolled on. I'm amazed that someone as off the wall as Noel Fielding would want to be involved with something as mainstream as Bake Off. He's a tad grubby looking to be doing a programme that involves food, sorry Noel shock

Blinko Sat 18-Mar-17 17:49:36

I live in hope....

LumpySpacedPrincess Sat 18-Mar-17 17:20:14

It would be alllllllll over Twitter if it were true. I think they will do a reveal show like last time. Not sayin' he's not awesome but I'm holding out for Olivia Coleman! wink

petra Sat 18-Mar-17 14:15:50

Blinko That has to be fake news grin

Blinko Sat 18-Mar-17 12:30:41

Not sure, LSP, but I hope it turns out to be the case smile

LumpySpacedPrincess Sat 18-Mar-17 12:07:15

Is that just speculation Blinko? Not sure they've announced it yet.

Blinko Sat 18-Mar-17 10:57:31

Has anyone heard Reginald D Hunter is to be the new Dr Who? Might start watching if so. Love RDH!

Jane10 Sat 18-Mar-17 09:39:42

I wasn't going to bother to watch but Sandi and Noel are my favourites. Drat I'll have to watch it. They will completely change the atmosphere of the show. Noel is so ,well, daft and Sandi is brilliant at witty put downs they'll be a most peculiar double act. Unmissable damn it!!

gillybob Sat 18-Mar-17 09:07:27

I don't like any of them either Ana so doubt I will be watching. I only ever watched it before for Mel and Sue who were very funny . I was half expecting to see Claire Balding in it. She's in every thing else on TV these days.

gettingonabit Sat 18-Mar-17 09:05:10

I never saw the point of Mel and Sue and I liked the slightly retro, comfy feel of Gbbo.

I don't think edgy is the way to go with this programme. I think people watched for its ability to transport us back into a time of tablecloths, shabbily comfortable kitchens and granny's baking.

I doubt it'll be a success but I applaud C4 in a way for taking it on.

Mal44 Sat 18-Mar-17 08:57:17

I was not a fan of the original programme but love Noel and Sandy and they do have a good chemistry. Will give it a go despite not being a fan of Paul.☘

Deedaa Fri 17-Mar-17 22:20:27

I must remember to tell DS that lots of grannies are really keen on Noel - he'll be horrified grin now he'll have to find a new cool hero!

DanniRae Fri 17-Mar-17 17:51:18

I don't intend to watch it, whoever is appearing. I loved it how it was and respect Mary, Sue and Mel for not following the money like Paul Hollywood. Anyway he was my least favourite out of all of them. hmm

Nvella Fri 17-Mar-17 17:47:17

Disappointed in Sandi Tosvig taking the channel 4 money and not standing up for the beeb

LumpySpacedPrincess Fri 17-Mar-17 16:28:56

I am a huge bake off fan, I was so sad when the beeb lost it but I am so excited about this line up. I love Noel Fielding, he is fabulous, truly fabulous.

petra Fri 17-Mar-17 13:14:33

Prue Leith is far more human than Mary berry. I might even watch it now, some real people for a change.

nettynora Fri 17-Mar-17 13:02:27

I had every intention of cutting GBBO out of my life after it went to Ch4 but I think choice of Sandy Toskvig and Noel Fielding is inspired and straight away I've changed my mind. Not sure about Prue Leith but time will tell. I doubt she's got Mary Berry's grace but we'll see if she can 'fit' in.

Jaycee5 Fri 17-Mar-17 12:52:34

I prefer Noel Fielding to Mel & Sue and I don't mind Sandi Tostvig. I rarely watched gbbo but I might give it a try depending when it is on.

Lupatria Fri 17-Mar-17 12:37:35

i didn't watch it on bbc so i'm not going to watch it on ch 4! never heard of the fellow but sandi tostvig is ok. not sure about prue leith - ok she's been on loads of other foodie programmes but i'm not sure she's the one for gbbo. personally i think it should have stayed with the bbc and the original presenters but i understand that greed seems to have decided what happens to it.

angelab Fri 17-Mar-17 12:25:00

currently intending not to watch - the production company shouldn't have been so greedy, and left it where it was!!

goldengirl Fri 17-Mar-17 12:16:25

I'll probably give it a whirl, but 'it won't be the same' sad

GillT57 Fri 17-Mar-17 12:09:11

I shall watch it and give it a try. I am glad that Channel 4 haven't dumbed down in an attempt to attract viewers, I would have been really disappointed if it had ended up with some ghastly chirpy Ant 'n' Dec type presenters. I like Noel Fielding, he is intelligent humour, like Sandi Tosvig and they have bounced off each other well in Q1, and he performed well on Have I Got News for You.
