Brexit all done and dusted?

As an arch REMOANER I for one (of many) will not simply roll over and say that is that. As things progress at the very least parliament must ensure that the country does not Brexit in a bad way because of "The Will of the People". So many lies were told by both side at the time of referendum that when the full facts come to light a re-think should be considered.

I have yet to hear a sound reason for voting LEAVE. Of course the EU is far from perfect but we are better trying to change it from within than sniping from outside. A general election or second referendum before the point of absolute no return.

I happen to be visiting Brussels on an educational trip after Easter so until then I will put up and shut up unless really provoked.

Do you moaners not want to be part of a democratic society? Would you rather a dictatorship? Your way or else? Have you never taken a risk in life? I'm delighted that things will change and I'm willing to take the rough with the smooth too. The EU is a bureaucratic dictatorship. If you can't see that then maybe you need a bit more sleep durham.

Norah Fake news: BNP Paribus leaving London.

stillaliveandkicking Wed 26-Apr-17 22:08:37

A post by Norah at 20.04 stated that this company were leaving the uk. I can't find any information on this but will be more than happy to apologise if I'm wrong grin

I still don't think the Nestle move is primarily a Brexit issue. But I think we are going to have a lot of unemployed financial services (ex)employees. Actually many of the very best are looking at Hong Kong and other parts of S.E.Asia rather than Europe. London is losing its shine. We need to get these negotiations over asap and make sure we prioritise the industry without which so many other things we need will fall apart. I'm afraid it isn't Jeremy Corbyn that we need to look to as the saviour of the NHS - it's the wicked bankers and all the tax their industry generates.

Lots of other financial institutions on the move.

Here we go. More links. Just speak normally durham.

stillaliveandkicking Wed 26-Apr-17 22:31:03

Just say things durham, speak in your own words rather than trying to send everyone off to links. Is it because you can't? Do you have to use links and quotes all the time?

Welshwife Wed 26-Apr-17 22:31:13

London is losing it's shine because of Brexit and the fact that there is unlikely to be any passporting rights. It has been a desirable hub for years.
Why would you sat that the aNestlé decision is not primarily Brexit move? - the boss has said it is! * Fitzy*

stillaliveandkicking Wed 26-Apr-17 22:33:28

London needs to loose its "shine" that's also what this is about. People use brexit at the moment for all manner of excuses. So why would you think differently Welsh?

...both sides in the campaign believed in that most fundamental of economic truths: that free trade is beneficial for aggregate economic welfare in the long-run. Leavers didn’t argue that free trade was bad — in fact one of their gripes about the EU was its apparent block on the UK becoming a truly Global Britain, able to strike free trade agreements (FTA) here, there and everywhere.
But where leavers and remainers disagree is on the potential benefits that FTAs with non-EU countries offer relative to the cost that would be paid by losing membership of the world’s largest and deepest, multi-country single market. The following paper attempts to analyse whether it is indeed possible to offset the costs of losing Single Market (and Customs Union) membership via FTAs with other countries.

Welshwife I've seen conflicting reports on the reasons for the Nestle move, and I think cheap labour, the usual reason for such moves, is probably the reason here. But I'm with you on Financial Services.

NfkDumpling Wed 26-Apr-17 22:36:08

Nestle have been moving factories to Eastern Europe, Asia and Latin America for years. I'm surprised there's anything left.

stillaliveandkicking Wed 26-Apr-17 22:39:01

here we go again.. links and other articles. Say things yourselves. Speak in a normal fashion, so weird. Its a forum for god sake.

stillaliveandkicking Wed 26-Apr-17 22:41:15

If i ever started something like this I'd ban you all for plagiarism. Why can't you read something and decipher it yourselves?

stillaliveandkicking Wed 26-Apr-17 22:47:36

Brexit is a fact. Its happening, stop being so negative, you sound like most of those bloated arrogant men in the house of lords. It's a new beginning! Not an end. Move on!

durhamjen Wed 26-Apr-17 22:51:44

It's only plagiarism if we do not admit our sources.

NFK, there isn't much left in York. Not just Nestle, but Terry's and other manufacturing companies have moved.
Doesn't make it right, whether it is because of Brexit or using Brexit as an excuse.

Just try to get over yourself durham.

durhamjen Wed 26-Apr-17 22:56:55

Really, saaki, is that all you can say?

stillaliveandkicking Wed 26-Apr-17 22:58:33

A forum is somewhere people "speak" to each other. To keep sending links to things is a bit silly. Do you expect others to read pages and pages of stuff. Its very boring and I would rather just have a conversation.

stillaliveandkicking Wed 26-Apr-17 23:00:05

Are you in a "link" frenzy durham?

durhamjen Wed 26-Apr-17 23:11:58

I've just heard Hunt say that a good Brexit deal will get more money into the NHS.
How, exactly?

stillaliveandkicking Wed 26-Apr-17 23:17:23

Stop being so negative and stuck in the past durham. New beginnings mean new opportunities. Stop being that little "you'll never make it" man out of Gullivers travels.
