POSTAL VOTES

Sorry this might seem insensitive, but I am curious to know....

If an elderly and frail person, or any other person for that matter, sends in a postal vote and then actually dies before the date of the election, is that vote still counted?

any ideas on this - because some of the seats are now extremely close, only a 2 vote majority in one seat, and the dead voting could make a difference.....

TM ungraciously refused to applaud for any other candidates.I love our democracy because she had to stand with all those eccentric candidates and look po faced! She was also pissed off because Elmo had the same outfit as her. Why is she wearing so much red?? It does not fool the labour voters.

Other than her mispronunciation of 'Treesa' the returning officer managed to keep a sense of decorum. I so wish she hadn't!

Mumsnet reckon that teaming up with the DUP may well break the Good Friday Agrrement. I think that argument almost certainly has traction.

Issues on which the Northern Ireland Assembly has full legislative powers:

health and social services
education
employment and skills
agriculture
social security
pensions and child support
housing
economic development
local government
environmental issues, including planning
transport
culture and sport
the Northern Ireland Civil Service
equal opportunities
justice and policing

Are they still able to vote on these devolved issues?

As the Dup in devolved can they vote for everything in westminster?
I don't know, would not have thought so. But presumably anything else that has not been devolved - although quite a lot has.

So how does it work if the Tories take one side?

I thought it was Sinn Fein that didn't take their seats and don't vote which would seem to be a fairly useless gesture.

I did thik the Lib Dems might have done even better and am surprised at the low vote for them considering so many people were disgruntled over the EU referendum vote.

I did stay up until 6am when the hung parliament was definite. Not the result I would have liked but at least she doesn't now have the majority to ride roughshod over the country. It would be nice to think that she might look at the figures and learn something - but I doubt it.
