The exit pole predicting no overall majority.

gillybob Sun 11-Jun-17 23:18:29

Yes it is very high which is probably why the head is criticized in the press. He is often complaining about how far his budget has to stretch and parents point to his own extortionate salary as a starting point to cut back on spending.

daphnedill Sun 11-Jun-17 23:17:29

I agree with you gillybob. Some of the salaries paid to academy heads are a scandal. They also don't have to stick to the national terms and conditions, so classroom teachers are sometimes treated very badly. They also use unqualified teachers.

Not only that, but academy chains sometimes buy advisory services from private companies set up by the chains themselves. Schools aren't allowed to make a profit, but the advisory services are.

Gove is going to do to the environment what he did to schools...that is extremely worrying. I do hope things aren't going to get a lot worse before they get better.

daphnedill Sun 11-Jun-17 23:10:10

PS. That's high. especially for the North East. My local school has 2012 pupils. The average pay is £37,534 and the school has recruitment problems, because house prices are high. The average salary at another local school is £35,464.

durhamjen Sun 11-Jun-17 23:05:42

At least we can be pleased that Gove isn't back in education to push his state-funded independents, otherwise known as academies.

anniebach

I presume she wasn't frolicking with Sting in the wheat fields (oh no, that was Fields of Barley).

As for Corbyn I think it was rather naughty to pass up on the answer by saying ‘It’s far too naughty to say’
meaning probably that there are far too many to choose from (Where Do I Begin?).

Anniebach Sun 11-Jun-17 23:01:05

Anya, big difference in talking to both sides than campaigning to have an IRA member in prisoner for murder treated as a political prisoner not a murderer . Corbyn did nothing for the peace talks , he defended one side only

gillybob Sun 11-Jun-17 22:59:14

I got my figures straight from the financial statements of the school itself Anya Written and verified by a very large (and famous) group of accountants. The school and its head has been criticized many times in the press for paying inflated salaries to their teachers and management team. As an academy they do not have to abide by "normal" pay scales and it appears that bonuses are given out regularly.

daphnedill Sun 11-Jun-17 22:56:54

PS. I think the top figures in Anya's post are for London weighting.

daphnedill Sun 11-Jun-17 22:55:37

The salaries of the headteacher and the deputies will skew the averages. The average for a classroom teacher is more likely to be just above £30k after at least six years.

Anya Sun 11-Jun-17 22:52:03

So Corbyn wanted to talk to the IRA? Isn't that what eventually happened, years after he called for people to talk to,each other and how the peace accord and power-sharing came about after the Good Friday Agreement?

So those who brought the two sides together eventually are heroes (or heroines) and those who suggested it years earlier are demonised???

The logic escapes me ???

durhamjen Sun 11-Jun-17 22:50:21

I think selling arms to Saudi Arabia is much naughtier.

Anniebach Sun 11-Jun-17 22:47:47

Running through fields of wheat justifies a farmer going ballistic , some have little or no knowledge of the country side and farming mocking May for admitting it was naughty.

Perhaps Corbyn didn't want to say screwing around when married - according to his brother

Classroom teachers Pay Scales

The main pay scale
As a classroom teacher you’ll start on the main pay scale, which ranges from point M1 to M6. Newly qualified teachers usually start on point M1, although other teaching experience may push you higher up the scale.

Schools may also award discretionary points for other relevant experience. Each school’s pay policy should explain how these points are awarded.

On the main pay scale your salary will most likely start on M1 (£22,467 – £28,098) and can increase to M6 (£33,160 – £38,241)*

I don't know where you got your figure from Gilly unless you're looking at the Leadership Scales which don't apply to your 'average' teacher. Nor those who have to apply to go 'through the threshold' confused.

These are the 2017 pay scales copied from the NUT site.

gillybob Sun 11-Jun-17 22:39:21

Yes maybe it was something like attending a party with Hezbollah or smoking weed with the IRA or ISIS or who whoever his "friends" were at the time far too risky to talk about.

gillybob Sun 11-Jun-17 22:36:55

Salary Correct in financial statements for 2014 so probably increased since then ( they are an academy so seem to vote themselves regular pay rises) .Pupils on role totally up to date as of this year.

gillybob Sun 11-Jun-17 22:34:28

Average teachers pay in the academy £39,500 plus bonuses and pension daphnedill around 1000 pupils including 6th form.

durhamjen Sun 11-Jun-17 22:25:06

When Corbyn was asked what the naughtiest thing he had done was, he said that was far too naughty to talk about.
Beats running through fields of corn. Theresa May has now ruined one of my favourite songs.

durhamjen Sun 11-Jun-17 22:21:08

Why the young voted the way they did.

whitewave Sun 11-Jun-17 21:37:07

Seems more apt though dj

durhamjen Sun 11-Jun-17 21:35:32

Hasn't Hunt written that book, Ginny?
Did you see the BBC reporter mispronounce his name - again!

durhamjen Sun 11-Jun-17 21:34:01

Gove is environment minister. He's a climate change denier, and wants to sell off our forests.
He wanted climate change removed from the curriculum. Well sorry, but it's one of my grandson's favourite subjects so it's staying on his curriculum.

I love the comment under the photo. Note; I didn't say it. I wouldn't do that even to Gove.

Ginny42 Sun 11-Jun-17 21:08:15

So the 1922 committe were to have met with TM on Tuesday and now it's tomorrow, and TM has announced that she's going to France to meet Macron on Tuesday, so she's clearly not anticipating the commmittee to remove her.

Perhaps she's going for on the job training in how to run a successful election campaign.

Ginny42 Sun 11-Jun-17 21:04:08

I'm too am losing the plot now.

Boris has tweeted, 'It's a Government of all the talents! Welcome to Michael.'

They have a talent for telling porkies.
