Now this really be worth doing!!

Let's start with the QS.

What will be left out/watered down! Not sure how they will explain it away as it's in the manifesto. Probably say something like "Brexit and all it's complications will mean that stuff will have to be shelved"

Fox hunting - out
Triple lock - remains
Social care - out

whitewave Wed 21-Jun-17 15:41:54

Just skimmed through the QS.

So continual cuts to public services then. No relief from austerity.

May is not listening to the election message.

devongirl Wed 21-Jun-17 15:33:30

I heard he didn't want to come because he didn't want publicity about the protests against his visit when he did..

Riverwalk Wed 21-Jun-17 14:30:31

I think it was Trump who cancelled - he doesn't like losers!

GracesGranMK2 Wed 21-Jun-17 14:09:48

What a relief about Trump. I wonder how they put it to him? I'm afraid that, although I don't think May is an intrinsically bad person she has only one mode of operation and I don't think that include humility whatever the speech says.

MawBroon Wed 21-Jun-17 12:43:05

Welshwife gringrin
Yes that raised a chuckle here too.

Rigby46 Wed 21-Jun-17 12:28:11

Well at least Donald Trump isn't coming - but. I'm afraid that does remind me of her poor judgment in rushing across the Atlantic to meet such a controversial President so soon and to offer him an unprecedented early state visit. I wonder if her advisers fingerprints are all over this? Whatever, it is another reminder of her poor judgement. The rest of the QS is quite depressing

Welshwife Wed 21-Jun-17 11:43:02

Watching the opening of Parliament.Anyone else?

Black Rod went into the HoC and summoned the MPs to which there was a shout from Dennis Skinner --And get your skates on - the first race is at half past two!!

Rigby46 Wed 21-Jun-17 10:00:18

My money is on Hammond - Davis has the poisoned chalice of being Mr Brexit and that's not going to go well is it? grin

whitewave Wed 21-Jun-17 09:49:15

The Tories are saying that tbis us Mays first and last QS.

The running is at the moment between Davis and Hammond.

Rigby46 Wed 21-Jun-17 09:47:46

The QS real significance is what is NOT in it - what IS in it will not really be a surprise will it?

Rigby46 Wed 21-Jun-17 09:45:57

I do wonder what is going on with the DUP. When the deal was first mooted, seasoned NI watchers said they were impossible to deal with - just when you thought that you had a deal, they would say, Columbo style, as they went out the door 'oh just one more thing...'. One suggestion is that they are affronted by criticism from some more liberal Tory back benchers about their antedeluvium attitudes and beliefs. They do have a deep seated certainty that they are right and brook no criticism. I heard an excerpt from a speech by a DUP MP in which he talked about woman being fashioned from Adam's rib - he believes it is the literal truth. shock. He said this in the House of Commons shock

If you care to read about it

trisher Wed 21-Jun-17 09:37:26

Let's face facts Queenie would much rather be at Ascot.
rar as you know the history of Ireland you may be interested to know that there will be a legal challenge to the proposed DUP partnership.

whitewave Wed 21-Jun-17 08:13:40

QS today

The Queen is definately sending May a strong message if she does dress down, especially if this is the last for 2 years.

May must have and continues to suppress information about tbe DUP.
She has history of suppressing information as Cable has testified to.

GracesGranMK2 Wed 21-Jun-17 08:10:59

There is some thought that her age, as well as the snap election, is playing its part. This seems, to me, like something Charles could be doing for her. She has to practise wearing the crown for the previous week - it is so heavy!

Rigby46 Wed 21-Jun-17 01:23:30

Just heard on LBC that the Queen is dressing down for the State opening and her speech. I suppose that makes sense

MaizieD Tue 20-Jun-17 23:49:59

@Nandalot

'gfery' is a 'polite' way of saying 'goadyfuckery'. As far as I can see it's a term borrowed from mumsnet used to describe posts designed to wind people up and distract from the discussion. The originator of the post is known as a goadyfucker. I suppose it's a more robust way of calling someone a troll.

www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=forum%20troll
A forum troll is someone who actively watches a forum. Not to be confused with a lurker, or just a forum frequenter, the troll annoys, pesters, and generally insults ...

durhamjen Tue 20-Jun-17 23:19:35

Isn't that what Gove said, whitewave?
It doesn't matter tha MSM is mainly rightwing as the leftwing have skwawkbox and the canary.

skwawkbox.org/2017/06/02/gove-says-msm-right-wing-bias-is-ok-because-skwawkbox/

durhamjen Tue 20-Jun-17 23:13:29

Or what those who voted for her thought it was going to be. Just read that she cannot reach an agreement with DUP still.
Another rewrite?

Rigby46 Tue 20-Jun-17 22:21:08

dj grin

But whatever is in it, it wasn't what TM imagined when she called the election was it?

durhamjen Tue 20-Jun-17 22:11:21

It's probably going to be full of stuff from the Labour manifesto. I look forward to the Queen telling us that houses in Kensington are going to be requisitioned for the homeless, and they are going to nationalise the railways.

whitewave Tue 20-Jun-17 22:11:17

New Statesman has a report that suggests that social media and ordinary folk have more influence than the trashy media (my term not theirsgrin)

How democratic is that?

Nandalot Tue 20-Jun-17 22:09:50

Sorry for being thick, what is gfery?

Rigby46 Tue 20-Jun-17 22:08:57

Yes gg and all the pensioner stuff has been dropped apparently, and grammar schools ....

whitewave Tue 20-Jun-17 22:05:38

Did anyone see the May /Boris thing on Sunday night. I can't see Johnson getting the leadership. In fact I was reading somewhere that none are seen as suitable as none will attract the future voter. I think that is certainly true.
