Former leadership rival Owen Smith appointed to Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary in Jeremy Corbyn’s reshuffle

Announcing the changes to his Shadow Cabinet, Mr Corbyn said: “I am delighted to announce four appointments to fill shadow cabinet vacancies. I look forward to working with the strengthened shadow cabinet as we prepare a government in waiting to carry out our manifesto for the many not the few.

Just because the opposition hurls abuse, it doesn't mean you can't improve your position or address problems through self-examination. Simply dismissing the issues brought into the public domain by senior and established MPs as tittle-tattle is not going to help. If these things are swept under the carpet, they will erode voter confidence in the party. Just my opinion.

Anniebach Tue 11-Jul-17 11:25:29

Not silly tittle tattle, I have read some of the vomit spewed out against women MP's and at the same time praising Corbyn and telling the woman they are attacking to do the same.

Fact, since Corbyn became leader there is a nastiness in people which I never encountered before Corbyn

whitewave Tue 11-Jul-17 10:58:16

annie that would be a very large minority if the population.

This is silly tittle tattle

Rise above it.

Have either of you, had a look at abuse from Tory supporters lately!!

Primrose65 Tue 11-Jul-17 10:50:49

I agree Anniebach, it's ironic and certainly not the hallmark of great leadership. Inclusivity for everyone who agrees with me!

Anniebach Tue 11-Jul-17 10:40:46

Yvette Cooper has spoken out against the on line abuse aimed at female MP's and Laura K of the Beeb , many abusive comments come from Corbynites who cannot cope with anyone disagreeing with Corbyn .

Did Corbyn not say he was bringing a gentler, kinder politics? Instead he has turned the party into a war zone , is it a case of birds of a feather etc?

Anniebach Tue 11-Jul-17 10:26:24

Not a criminal offence but adultery = betrayal of his wife and his marriage vows shows a man who is dishonest and lacking in morals

MaizieD Tue 11-Jul-17 09:38:59

I haven't warmed to Seamus Milne but I see his personal life as his own business, providing it isn't getting in the way of him doing his job,

Absolutely, Iam64.

His only crime is being caught out now instead of having it revealed in memoirs several years after it's ended (that's if anyone thinks he's interesting or significant enough to remember him...).

Primrose65 Tue 11-Jul-17 09:21:15

Very happy to discuss policy ww!

Iam64 Tue 11-Jul-17 09:21:11

If you're referring to Simon Dancsuk Promrose, the sexting was one of a number of extremely inappropriate behaviours. He'd been offered support/therapy via the HofC and had written about his drink problem and attraction to young women. I think the sexting was to a 17 year old he'd met in the course of his work as an MP.

I haven't warmed to Seamus Milne but I see his personal life as his own business, providing it isn't getting in the way of him doing his job, SM isn't an MP. I can't imagine his wife will be indifferent to the photographs in today's papers.

whitewave Tue 11-Jul-17 09:20:46

Policy primrose?

Primrose65 Tue 11-Jul-17 09:18:25

He was the MP for Rochdale. Good or bad at his job, that's why he was suspended. I personally didn't like him at all, but you can't have one rule for your mates and one for everyone else. Not if you're going to run the country!

whitewave Tue 11-Jul-17 09:17:50

Nope primrose won't work. Dirt doesn't cut ice unless you are a reader of the gutter press. Try discussing policy - I think that might get you more respect.

Primrose65 Tue 11-Jul-17 09:16:52

I don't think that just criticising the opposition is enough, personally. Deflection isn't a winning strategy.

Anniebach Tue 11-Jul-17 09:15:32

This chap isn't an MP primrose , he is a waster but not an MP

Primrose65 Tue 11-Jul-17 09:13:26

I disagree. JC suspended an MP for sexting. How does that work? Sexting bad, affairs OK?

whitewave Tue 11-Jul-17 09:10:58

So proxy sex and half truths are the way to go primrose?

I would rather focus on the actual. Like a year ago Maybot got into power by default. Beating Loathsome the useless who had said she ought to win because she is a mother!!

A year later Maybot has not moved on from her store of about 20 sound bites and has completely run out of ideas. As a result she is begging for the opposition to come up with policies.

"Don't just criticise" says Maybot

Doh! the clue is in the name opposition - come on Maybot time for a re-boot or perhaps to be kind - a complete new circuit.

Anniebach Tue 11-Jul-17 09:09:20

Nothing to do with the party, Corbyn not in any position to criticise his aide when he was having it off with Diane Abbott whilst still married to the second Mrs Corbyn . And it isn't Corbyns business what his aide gets up to in his private life

Primrose65 Tue 11-Jul-17 08:59:07

I don't know which papers bought the photo, I haven't checked with the photographer. I'm not sure how that's relevant.
If something isn't reported in the left wing press, it doesn't mean it didn't happen!

I think JC should do something. He was very slow off the mark with the antisemitism row last year and condoning this behaviour (which is what doing nothing is) will not help the Labour party. But I was interested in other opinions on it.

durhamjen Tue 11-Jul-17 08:43:02

And the photo was sold to which newspapers?
Aggressive? Not at all. Just a statement, like yours.

Does Corbyn have to do anything about it?

Primrose65 Tue 11-Jul-17 08:40:53

That's a silly assumption durhamjen, irrelevant to the facts and a bit aggressive! My nephew is a political journalist and we were talking about it.
Trying to put me down won't stop him being a cheat!

durhamjen Tue 11-Jul-17 07:49:28

I wonder which newspapers you read. Second thoughts, I think I know.

Primrose65 Tue 11-Jul-17 00:14:01

I wonder how JC will handle his spin doctor Seamus Milne, now he's been caught out cheating on his wife. Not great to be caught on camera in 5* hotels with a woman half the age of your wife.

durhamjen Mon 10-Jul-17 19:12:44

A link to Bloomberg in that link.

MaizieD Mon 10-Jul-17 18:33:45

I think ww was talking generally about asking for sources for statements and not getting one.

And people do so moan about being given links... So what is one to do to evidence a statement?
