Brexit is, for the politically minded, looking more and more dodgy. Even some tories seem to think it's unlikely to happen.

What would you do if it didn't happen?
March?
Riot?
Grumble?

The safer world had nothing to do with the EU - we are safer now because of it and all the countries co operating with each other and sharing information etc The fact that life is not 'hunky dory' for many of us has nothing to do with the EU but a lot to do with the U.K. govt and in the last few years the bankers also - but they are still managing to do well out of us. For a few years when Maggie was PM and started the programme of everyone being selfish many people did do well but lots did not and much of that came at the expense of selling off the nation's assets.
If you think your life is not good now just wait for another couple of years when we have left the EU and see how you are faring then. The U.K. Cannot feed itself - it relies on imports - if agreements are not made fast the country will be at the mercy of the places producing food to charge what they want!!

Your argument sarah has everything to do with the economy but nothing at all to do with Brexit.

Absolutely nothing in your life will change for the better if we leave the EU. In fact it will be a disaster for people like yourself. Don't believe the siren songs - they are there to deceive.

By all means vote for change but do not even remotely think that Brexit will bring about that change. It wont

sarahellenwhitney Sun 18-Jun-17 11:00:59

Paddyann.Well it may be hunky dory for you and yours but
for sure life has hardly been a doddle for many Brits in the past thirty years.Young families in particular now attempting to get on the housing ladder is becoming harder if not totally unattainable by the minute.
NHS like fish out of water.
The sooner, fingers are out and all done and dusted, the better.
Freedom of travel? A passport gave me this freedom of travel and never stopped me from going around the world when and where I wanted and it was a b-----y sight safer world..

quizqueen
Thank you for taking the trouble to print that info. There's one thing you forgot, etc, ect, etc grin

jefm
I travel a lot. You don't need to travel that far to see people living in horrendous poverty. Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, all in the eu. Albania and Serbia waiting to join.

whitewave Sun 18-Jun-17 10:56:04

jefm I am afraid that you old hacked arguments have completely lost the plot.

No one will listen to lies any more and we are more than aware that the hard line Brexiters are more than a little worried that they have lost the argument, which is why you are suddenly popping up on Forums like this to try and lie some more.

Well I've got news for you -we will no longer be listening to people like yourself but will be listening instead to the experts who we now realise actually understand what they are talking about. None of your shouty arguments will work.

durhamjen Sun 18-Jun-17 10:47:05

Where do you live, jefm?

jefm Sun 18-Jun-17 10:41:30

PS Who on this site have travelled, plenty I guess. Poverty, we don't know we are born, Indonesia, Egypt, India , Africa etc etc we are Not a third world country although some suggest we are. Go look!

jefm Sun 18-Jun-17 10:39:15

Quiz queen you are great. Quite right the remainers are still grumbling and sadly in this blog many leavers are stumbling. Did anyone not realise WE ALL HAD THe SAME INFORMATION WHETHER IT WAS INADEQUATE OR NOT. PLEASE DONT SUGGEST THE LEAVERS HAD SO LITTLE THAT HAD THEY HAD MORE THEY WOULD HAVE VOTED REMAIN. How ridiculous we all had the same! Like you quiz queen I just did my own independent research. The press and the remain politicians continue to put this country down. What on earth are they doing playing into the hands of the European Parliament. It was the same in the election wasn't it everyone shouted, by the way where is Tim Farron now? So many got caught up in meaningless and budget busting policies because there were handouts. Media madness as in a SALE! If we were given a chance BREXIT would be good for the UK

whitewave Sun 18-Jun-17 10:32:04

Talk about spite you nose..

I could provide a similar list qq to show how much leaving the EU will cost this country, and believe me it will amount to much more than your shouty list.

But undoubtedly the economy will completely tank, people will end up in even greater poverty. That figure alone will top your list by billions.

We will be unable to trade without skilled negotiators who have already demanded something like £165m per annum each, and we will need hundreds if not thousands of them. That is on top of the vast number of lawyers fees. I could go on but there is no point -the Brexit argument has as far as I can see been lost.

maryhoffman37 Sun 18-Jun-17 10:30:22

Rejoice and throw a party!

mostlyharmless Sun 18-Jun-17 10:24:43

Where does this information come from qq?
You need to take into account the loss of UK trade as well. As well as many other benefits of belonging to a large trading group. Environmental co-operation, peace in Europe for the last seventy years, police and security cooperation, UK health rights in Europe (EHIC), university research etc etc etc......

durhamjen Sun 18-Jun-17 10:22:02

Quizqueen, the only reason that £40 million in lost student loans is in your list is because we do not have free education.
Both my daughters in law, one Danish and one Spanish, had their fees paid for them by their respective countries. They also had grants paid by their own countries. Their education was not a burden on this country at all, and they are now both working in the education system, so we benefit from their countries policies - unless, of course, you think that teaching languages in not a benefit.

durhamjen Sun 18-Jun-17 10:17:51

Aren't Scotland and Denmark about the same size in terms of population, grandtante?
I have more faith in Scotland going it alone because of Denmark.

quizqueen Sun 18-Jun-17 10:15:39

I would be furious if we didn't leave the EU fully after the Referendum vote was for LEAVE. Being in the Customs Union means not being able to make our own trade deals with the outside world so that's no good either. I can't understand why anyone would want their country ruled by someone else. Everyone had the chance to do their research about the pros and cons of being in the EU and vote accordingly.

For those EU lovers here are some facts. As well as the DAILY fee of £50 million plus we pay to be in their great friendly club we also paid:

1. 2.4 BILLION in VAT paid direct to Brussels.
2. 1.7 BILLION “punishment for success” because we had higher growth than expected.
3. 642 MILLION Fine for “poor Accounting” on Farm Subsidies.(from YOUR money)
4. I BILLION Towards Bail-Out of Greece
5. 150 MILLION fine for not flying the EU flag on projects partly funded by the EU with YOUR money.
6. 250 MILLION To Turkey and Albania to help them join the EU.
7. 300 MILLION fine a year until we meet Pollution targets set out by the EU.
8. 900 MILLION a Year to treat EU tourists on NHS
9. EU gifted 22 BILLION of your Taxpayers To boost French economy.
10. 300 MILLION costs to businesses for EU Red Tape
11. 40 MILLION in lost revenue in EU student Loans which are unpaid and the students have disappeared back to the EU.
12. 250 MILLION towards helping with costs of migrant crisis in Europe.

durhamjen Sun 18-Jun-17 10:15:04

Thank you, grandtante. My daughter in law is Danish, and her family feel the same.
My grandson has a Danish passport, even though he was born here, because his parents were not married when he was born.
The rules then changed so his sister has a British passport.
Very confusing.

My husband's father was one of the first to cross the border into Denmark after the war, and met a lot of German troops coming in the opposite direction. They surrendered to the British troops, for which he was very grateful, as the British were easily outnumbered.

maddyone Sun 18-Jun-17 10:13:52

There will not be a last minute reprieve in my opinion, Brexit will happen, but on what terms we will have to wait and see. We always have our piggy banks raided regardless of who is the power, the government (of either colour, the EU, the city councils etc) but of course we have to pay if we believe in joint responsibility. I think people become upset when they see the authorities wasting tax payers money on vanity projects, gravy trains etc. Most do not resent money being spent on essential services, and research.

grandtanteJE65 Sun 18-Jun-17 10:07:08

We are certainly not laughing at you in Denmark. We are very concerned, both for our own trade markets, as the UK is still one of our really big export markets, but also because most Danes in our age group still feel affection for the British - we haven't forgotten yet that Britain fought on, when the rest of Europe was in thrall to Hitler.

grandtanteJE65 Sun 18-Jun-17 10:04:32

I would be relieved if brexit does not happen, as I am very much afraid that if it does it will break up the UK. I am not sure Scotland can go it alone, if brexit results in a new referendum on independence, which I fear it will, and what about Northern Ireland?
As far as I could see at the time, the majority for leaving the EU was voted for mainly by the Midlands, and generally speaking I do not think the politicians who want brexit tried hard enough to inform the voters dispassionately of the consequences, so even if we regard the actual voting as a democratic event, it seems as if the individual voter made up his or her mind on information that was not good enough.

Smithy Sun 18-Jun-17 09:50:50

My reaction would be a combination of Bluebell's and Paddyanns thoughts. Still hoping for a ''reprieve''

I would tut and mumble a bit.

Welshwife Sun 18-Jun-17 09:34:19

Some form of Brexit is unfortunately very likely to happen and that will be the final nail in the mess the UK has got itself into.

AllTheLs Sun 18-Jun-17 09:29:33

I agree with mcem. It's not Brexit that's really the issue. How other countries must be laughing at us and at our political mess.

radicalnan Sun 18-Jun-17 09:27:33

I voted for Brexit. I doubt if it will happen now. The EU was designed by bankers for bankers, and bankers rule the world. We are headed toward a Momentum government now, we have demonstrated that we are not concerned about democracy anymore and will accept what is thrust upon us.

tanith Sat 17-Jun-17 18:23:36

I also would be delighted and relieved I have family living in Gibraltar and for many reasons they are very concerned how Brexit is going to affect them and their children.
