Very much needed.

First happy thing to report.

Unison have won their case making it illegal to charge employees for employment litigation. Introduced by the Tories in 2013.

The judges quite rightly said it was wrong to make it difficult/impossible for anyone to resort to law.

Those who paid will be reimbursed.

whitewave Mon 30-Oct-17 17:26:31

No?

durhamjen Mon 30-Oct-17 16:26:04

I presume you have heard Chris Bryant?

whitewave Mon 30-Oct-17 16:08:10

Bercow in reply to Maybots letter asking what he could do to stop such inappropriate behaviour, said in so many words “get your own house in order”

whitewave Mon 30-Oct-17 16:06:16

There seems to be a lot of senior Tory ministers who have behaved “inappropriately” wonder how limp wristed Maybot is going to deal with them?

We now know how the whips deal with them. The whips hold a book with all scandal and use the knowledge to threaten any potential trouble makers to make them vote with the government. How sleazy - how undemocratic!

So now I will wonder rather than if a particular mp has no spine, but instead what he’s been up to.

There's a debate tomorrow about PR, 4.30.
Should be interesting to watch.

Momentum is not the way to go from what I have seen - it is likely to cause dissention in the ranks like other groups did in the 70s.

Campbell is looking at who is leader NOW - that is who there is to work with whether anyone likes it or not. I think as a speech it is too long and rambling to keep the attention of people - but as very unlikely to be delivered it doesn't matter!

POGS Sat 28-Oct-17 11:26:25

Ye Gods Alastair Campbell!

He's changing his tune like many others over his view of Corbyn isn't he.

Funny how easily the smell of success can lead so many it appears to have a change of heart, commonly known as being a hypocrite.

I might be doing him a bit of a disservice in a way because the ' speech' he wrote for Jeremy does have some , shall I say, pointed areas where Campbell is saying this is where you are wrong matey.

If I were Jeremy I would stick with Momentum and ignore Campbell as one will put him on the bus the other will throw him under it ,only if and when it suits of course.

This deserves to be read.

I'm not sure that it is only that the government cannot agree with each other. DD appears unable to agree with himself.

durhamjen Thu 26-Oct-17 18:48:01

Yes, there's a thread about it, Jess.

I think they should carry on ignoring parliament and the people.
Corbyn will win by a landslide - early next year, I think.

JessM Thu 26-Oct-17 18:14:34

The government are in disarray. They can't agree with each other. They are telling their MPs to boycott Opposition debates. David Davis does not seem to know whether he is coming or going over a vote on the "Final Deal" re Brexit. And they are desperately making "announcements". aka floating ideas for solving problems to make it look like they are doing something about the NHS etc. The AIRBNB for post surgical patients is a gem isn't it. Is there a thread...

whitewave Thu 26-Oct-17 17:59:28

I see yesterday JRM announced that in his opinion, a woman who seeks an abortion after being raped is committing a second wrong.

durhamjen Thu 26-Oct-17 15:55:58

Brilliant, Granny23.
Isn't it good to have an MP so much on the ball?
I didn't expect May to get it wrong, though.
Maybe you should suggest this on trisher's thread looking for ideas.

Another example of a government which does not know what it is doing, nor apparently has the faintest idea of what it is supposed to be doing. Of particular interest to me as the Luke Graham MP mentioned is now my MP. He has already been asked to leave the chamber twice when he attempted to speak in England/Wales only debates as he seems to be under the illusion that only SNP MPs are excluded from these debates, rather than all MPs from Scottish seats, even those from the Tory Party. I suppose it is not surprising that he has little or no knowledge of these matters, living as he does in Croyden. Locally he has been campaigning to have at least one of the major banks open/reopen a branch in the County Town, having failed to notice that there ARE 3 bank branches in the town centre. It is some of the smaller rural branches who have closed or gone part-time.

durhamjen Thu 26-Oct-17 13:54:21

This deserves a read as well.

Showing the amount of influence that the Murdoch press has over worldwide press.
What's very interesting is that it's the Times group that is copied wholesale by US press.

Universities minister busy trying to explain away the McCarthyist letter sent by a Tory MP - grin. Yet another idiot trying to suggest he has more knowledge than the experts.

I see that Cambridge students are using their market forces to demand a less colonialistic tendency in the teaching and introduction of more black writers, for balance. They pay 9k a year so I think they are entitled to complain.

whitewave Wed 25-Oct-17 07:34:53

I see the BBC has been criticised by an overseeing committee for allowing Lawson to spout his rubbish, denying climate change without challenge on more than one occasion.

This will now stop hopefully.

Chris Williamson's latest video. Did you know that a double u-turn is a doughnut?

It's a con anyway. The Tories are going to have an 8 week review, by which time the interest rates will have risen and they will be able to say they can't afford it. They promised £2 billion to build 25,000 new homes. That's £80,000 per house.
Anyone know where you can get a new house for that money?

durhamjen Sun 22-Oct-17 16:33:03

Now I know why.

www.24housing.co.uk/news/labour-secures-opposition-day-debate-on-supported-housing/

durhamjen Sun 22-Oct-17 16:31:14

Have you noticed that housing is now flavour of the day?
Tories are saying it would be a good idea to build lots of social houses now as interest rates are so low.
I wonder which expert they are listening to today?
They have been told that for years, but are now in listening mode, just as the Bank of England are saying that interest rates will have to rise!
