There are so many intelligent people on there that any attempt at trolling gets short shrift. That's one of the things I like about that site.

You've just reminded me my local garage is a Bosch garage, Welshwife. My car's a Renault, so a good mix of EU parts.

Someone I know had a job at Ford's going around the EU finding the best places to set up Ford factories. I doubt they will be coming back to the UK now.

Trouble is Jen some parts go across the borders about nine times before the car is finished and sold wherever. It is not just the assembly plants but the suppliers of the parts. Bosch are big in car parts - making some of the large parts such as brake components etc - not sure about whether this have many plants in UK but they are really big in the industry. GM do use them for all sorts of parts.

Why will people not buy German cars? They are usually from the top end of the range, bought by people with money. They'll still be able to afford them even with an extra 5% tax on them.
The problem is with exporting cars from here to the EU.
We import parts, then export the cars, paying duties twice. Why would companies like Toyota and Nissan want to do that when they could easily set up factories in the EU and not have to pay those taxes?

The German car industry are more worried.
In 2016 almost one in three cars bought in the uk were German built, that's 810,000 cars.

Not looking good for Vauxhall either.

Makes you wonder how many MPs would like to resign from the front bench, but daren't say so. Easy for a Lord to do it.

Toyota saying they are not going to hang around waiting for three years for the Brexiteers to make up their minds.

I think quite a lot need to go through Parliament though - esp if Gina Miller gets her way over the money to the DUP etc.

But the DUP are supporting May's choice for the committees which means she will be able to get all her plans through.
If they had wanted amendments, they should have voted for it last night.

HoL amendments? They may take note of those I suppose. I'm just wondering how long the HoL are willing to keep returning the bill for amendment? I honestly can't see them ignoring Salisbury.
