Meddling with their cake recipes?
Never mind Rainbow lanyards, is NOTHING sacred?

Grannyknot your logic and wit is lovely. Ditto on both counts from me.

Kim19 Fri 11-Aug-17 10:27:03

I'm with you Riverwalk. Never considered it a 'good buy'

chrishoops Fri 11-Aug-17 10:17:22

Not worth me having NT membership now as I have a dog.

I expect this has been discussed before, but if wish there was a 'like' or 'thumbs up button.
I often agree with a comment, but don't have anything to add as a reply, and it would be interesting to see how much support views have.

There should have been a paragraph break before my last sentence.

Obviously I mean it is a good thing sugar is decreasing. Not life expectancy!

NameChange2016 Fri 11-Aug-17 10:02:23

Oh for goodness sake we are in the middle of an OBESITY crisis!

People need to eat far less sugar and fat like margarine. Seeds and nuts provide the right kind of fats. Fruit is a natural sweetener.

Why are you dinosaurs protesting? We will have a generation whose life expectancy is reducing not increasing.
This is a good thing, not a bad thing!

The National Trust need to address the pricing system in their tea-rooms. Very expensive at most properties. Recently my husband and I each had a bacon roll and a cup of tea. the bill was over £12.00. Ingredients would not have cost more than £1.00 in total. I know they have overheads, but really!
I strongly advise taking a picnic.

Riversidegirl Fri 11-Aug-17 09:51:50

I've been making similar to this, with seeds and dried fruit etc for yonks, but people still like it nice and sweet.

Baggs Thu 10-Aug-17 15:10:45

I have a chocolate cake recipe that includes courgettes, Jali.

tiz grin

maryeliza54 Thu 10-Aug-17 14:58:54

Yes Tiz I understand that - clearly it's up to posters if they want to answer a specific question addressed specifically to a point they made - not a general question that anyone could answer. Anyway, it hardly matters I was just making a point as a newcomer - was that OK ? ( general question anyone can answer if they want) grin

Jalima1108 Thu 10-Aug-17 13:14:19

Perhaps I should donate them to the NT and they can do something innovative with them

Jalima1108 Thu 10-Aug-17 13:13:47

Does your recipe include courgettes Baggs?

I have a pile of them facing me in the kitchen and yes, I do have some recipes but fancy a change!!

Tizliz Thu 10-Aug-17 12:55:28

Actually baggs I was criticising myself, but I find it difficult to upset myself grin

Baggs Thu 10-Aug-17 12:55:15

I agree with what M0nica says about NT's sanctimonious posturing. We haven't renewed our membership for years because of that and other instances of groupthink its executive have engaged in.

Baggs Thu 10-Aug-17 12:47:20

just do what suits you tiz, and ignore criticisms of your posting method.

Baggs Thu 10-Aug-17 12:46:17

According to everyone who has eaten it, my nutty seedy flapjack* is the best in the world. Recipe in the Gransnet food section under a longer version of my username.

*Everyone calls it flapjack too, even Americans to whom a flapjack is some kind of pancake.

Just saying.

Tizliz Thu 10-Aug-17 12:39:05

maryeliza one of the problems of asking questions on busy threads is that it gets buried. If, for example, I come here and find there are 30 posts I haven't read do I reply to a question straight away and then find someone else has answered it or do I wait until I have read all the posts and then I have forgotten the question grin

durhamjen Thu 10-Aug-17 12:10:17

Flapjack ingredients galore on this thread. It's in news and politics. Hard to believe, I know.

Anniebach Thu 10-Aug-17 11:57:31

Maryeliza, best if you want to discuss faith you do so on the correct forum, one wouldn't ask for a recipe on a politics thread , would one ?

maryeliza54 Thu 10-Aug-17 11:44:36

Oh sorry - I was just clarifying that my questions could have been answered and weren't. I wasn't wanting to debate the issue . I'll just accept that - it'll probably happen again.

Jalima1108 Thu 10-Aug-17 11:40:46

As newcomer you may not be aware that we have to be careful about 'Threads about threads' too. I'm not sure if that means starting threads about threads or referring to other threads iyswim.
(not my rule, one of GNHQ)

maryeliza54 Thu 10-Aug-17 11:33:24

The two questions I asked that I particularly wanted answers to was one to a poster who seemed to be saying that there was a link between being left or right and ones views on homosexuality ( linked to NT issue of course) and the other question was about why religious beliefs should be treated differently in terms of being 'mocked' compared with deeply held political beliefs ( or I suppose any other deeply held belief). So I thought the posters who posted those views should have been able to answer them - I'm not saying should have but that I was disconcerted they didn't and there were in a position to be able to I would have thought

Jalima1108 Thu 10-Aug-17 11:20:59

Also it's disconcerting if you ask a question and don't get an answer.
I agree there, sometimes it's disconcerting to be ignored but I suppose the question may not seem important enough to others - or perhaps other posters may not know the answer.

Jalima1108 Thu 10-Aug-17 11:15:32

rosesarered perhaps they think the NT membership consists of menopausal women and that seeds are good for us!

durhamjen Thu 10-Aug-17 11:12:12

I know lots of people on here don't read the Guardian.
That's why I put up links to it, in case they want to be informed.
Independent, too, quite often.
