Two raving nutters locking horns - heaven help us all.

Nanna58 Fri 11-Aug-17 21:13:07

Jalima, thank god people didn't think it 'naive' when they stood up to Hitler.

whitewave Fri 11-Aug-17 21:08:48

Right that's his two thumbs and his two forefingers that have to go???

durhamjen Fri 11-Aug-17 21:02:08

Trump has to get majorities in both houses to get anything changed in the US.
The only thing he has complete control over is launching a nuclear attack.
He has claimed they are locked in and ready.

Scary.

With regards money. China has invested heavily in the west to the wests huge advantage. It isn't all one way.

whitewave Fri 11-Aug-17 20:30:13

China is a trading partner with NK and is in the best position to try to curtail and restrain NK as far as anyone is able to do.
It's policy has been stability as far as possible in the region, which is something that the US has also actively pursued until the Trump presidency.

As far as I am aware China have warned NK that if they attack the USA they will remain neutral.

However they have also said that if the US attack HK premptively they will side with NK.

The USA is a mature democracy and world leader it needs to stop Trumps rhetoric.

rosesarered Fri 11-Aug-17 20:19:55

China could and should do more to restrain Kim Jong Un, they have been allies for years, but now China has a big place in the world economy and it will want to be friends with the West, where it's money comes from.Let's see what they do.

whitewave Fri 11-Aug-17 20:18:49

petra well bless me so it could. How clever would that be?

As SK and its people if they think that is a good idea!

petra Fri 11-Aug-17 20:14:40

Who's to say that it will be a nuclear bomb. It could be the GBU 43 known as the ' Mother of all bombs' non nuclear.

Jalima1108 Fri 11-Aug-17 20:13:12

It is very naive to think that 'standing up' to Kim Jong Un is the answer.

Jalima1108 Fri 11-Aug-17 20:10:46

By the pricking of my thumbs etc

whitewave Fri 11-Aug-17 20:09:04

Exact jalima the world cannot afford this fracas. Take Trump out of the framework and leave it to say Tillerson there is a chance of calming things down. Someone needs to cut off Trumps thumbs!!!

Jalima1108 Fri 11-Aug-17 20:03:21

China will not want NK to use a nuclear missile because any retaliation by the USA will hit China too.

They are playing a very close game and I hope they have plans to solve the NK problem.

whitewave Fri 11-Aug-17 19:56:21

smileless we know that Clinton is more hawkish than Obama, but I am sure that she like the rest of the American military/security understands exactly what does or does not work with NK. A lesson that someone like Trump who has no political experience has clearly not yet learned.

whitewave Fri 11-Aug-17 19:51:36

No one is laying the blame on Trump, but what I am arguing is that NK has been closely watched by the world for years. That includes countries like China. It isn't a question of doing nothing but it does mean playing a much cleverer game than Trump is clearly able to do.
NK is not the USSR. Kim is a dictator. Dictators cannot be seen to back down. The USA needs to give him a let out clause.

It isn't significant if you consider thousands of lives are at risk. Indeed the world will entirely understand and contrary what has been suggested the USA will be admired for its strength and good diplomacy.

Smileless2012 Fri 11-Aug-17 19:23:42

I've been thinking about this and don't have answer myself but how do you think HC would have reacted if she was the president?

rosesarered Fri 11-Aug-17 19:20:01

My thoughts too Marieeliz

Marieeliz Fri 11-Aug-17 19:15:07

I notice that, as usual, everyone is blaming Trump, North Korea has been bragging about what they are going to do for months. So America sits there as says nothing? That would make N. Korea very happy.

No admirer of Trump but I was in the Services during the Cuba crisis sometimes you have to take these people on at their own game.

We should be worried about our own security, too.

whitewave Fri 11-Aug-17 17:12:58

petra and so would all those living in the Asian basin, depending on the size if and type of weapon I suppose.

When we were in the Maldives the sun was occasionally slightly fuzzy because of the slash and burn of the forest in Indonesia shock
I think that the release of any nuclear weapon will affect the whole world one way or another. I can't think why the hell we continue to develop them

petra Fri 11-Aug-17 17:01:16

At least NK has the deepest underground system in the world where the fat one and his side kicks can shelter.
I'm not at all worried, I'm more interested in where the US bomb would drop and what is the fall out from the bomb/ bombs.

nigglynellie Fri 11-Aug-17 16:48:15

Yes of course they have a programme, but the warheads are not nuclear -yet! 2018 maybe earlier they most certainly will be, that's why we are all so worried.

durhamjen Fri 11-Aug-17 16:36:12

NK has no nuclear programme at the moment.
Really, niggly?
Why are we all so worried, then?

nigglynellie Fri 11-Aug-17 16:22:06

Not this one I'm afraid! I have no answers on how to remove either of these two!

Diddy1 Fri 11-Aug-17 16:00:29

If missiles are fired on Guam, then the world is in trouble, as Trump is bound to retaliate.
These two maniac leaders need to be removed ASAP, but how can this be done, Have GNetters any suggestions I wonder.

Alidoll Fri 11-Aug-17 15:59:06

So I should hold off paying the balance on a holiday to America next year then...just in case grin
