whitewave, I am not at all surprised. Look at Germany where Merkel has always put the long-term future of her country first - risking her own future and here, where we have a group of the less-than-able putting their own future both before their party and their country.

The Observer is reporting that in fact Maybot and no doubt numerous other Tories are for a Norwegian solution, but in fact Johnson and I guess other loons scuppered that planned bit if her Florence speech by his Telegraph article.

It is interesting Jen but I am not sure about the 'remainers are too reasonable' bit.

I think we always had to have time for reality to set in - you only have to think of the things the leavers put forward as truths which at least some are beginning to realise were not. Things such as 'the EU needs us more than we need them' as if we were stronger than 27 other countries including Germany. The idea that we have a special place where other countries in the EU are concerned - rubbish. How many even bothered to turn up to the speech in Florence where May still thinks she can tell them what to do.

We also needed them to catch up on what the vote was in actuality. It was a binary vote (yes or no) about whether we should leave the EU. There was no vote on whether we should stay in this, that or the other group, part or legal entity.

Time was needed and the paucity of knowledge and capability in this government has - luckily - given us that time.

There seems to be war breaking out again in the Tory after the Florence truce.

Johnson is clearly on manoeuvres, but I suspect it is more his bid for leadership than putting our country first and worrying about Brexit.

IDS doesn't seem yet to quite understand what Maybot said in Florence, I suppose the penny will drop eventually.

I agree about the car but I can't knock that because I have to admit we have 2 Mercedes, but we do have 2 Fords as well.
I will add that 2 of those vehicles are not our every day run abouts

It's possible to oppose large scale immigration without indulging in the xenophobic, far right rants of the ADF. I thought Germany had cut down on the number of migrants it was letting in and that she has therefore changed the policy although obviously the ones let in earlier on remain and I can understand that there are issues around that.

There is an argument to say that if Merkel hadn't let over one mil migrants into Germany the ADF wouldn't be gaining seats in parliament.
It's obvious that there are a lot of very unhappy people with this policy, and it's not helping that she has no intention of changing that.

Thank goodness his support for le Pen didn't work. Wonder where he'll be troubleshooting next? Totally petty of me, I know, but I've been told he drives a Volvo. Shouldn't he be driving a British car?

Farage did share a platform with this far right party and has publicly endorsed them. I don't think it matters whether his support made any difference, the point is he supports them and that speaks volumes.

But you have to admit that the main person behind UKIP wants a far right Europe to replace the EU. Does that not worry you and makes you question why people like Farage wants to break up the EU?

The AFD party are going to get seats in the parliament tomorrow without any help from Nigel Farage.

And yet another concern for the eu.
Andrej Babis looks likely to win the Czech Republic election next month.
He has taken a strong line against what he sees as the European Unions ever growning grasp of power.
I believe this is one of the reasons the eu is determined to make Brexit as difficult as possible.

Off topic I know but I was thinking tonight that Farage wants to turn people against the Germany of today and yet is going to Germany trying to promote the extreme right wing of the German political parties in an attempt to turn Germany back into the sort of nation that we had genuine reason to be afraid of. A sort of self fulfilling prophesy.
