Let's not forget Brexit

I still feel that Brexit is wrong though have no idea how stop it. We get mixed messages on the negotiations, DD says that are going fine but the EU side says otherwise.

There was a protest in Manchester where Lib. Dems., European Movement. Open Britain and other groups made their feelings clear.

Our democracy and standard of living is under threat from dogmatism on both the left and the right.

BBC Brexit Day on Halloween? I wonder why they chose that date?
Very spooky!

McCarthyist tendencies. Anyone who might have the temerity to say brexit is rubbish is being shut down if at all possible.

Shout from the roof tops folks,

Why has the Daily Heil started a campaign against Universities now? A bit reminiscent of the anti intellectualism of the Cultural Revolution or the Turkish President Erdogon arresting teachers and lecturers. David Davis ‘ dire performance yesterday also sparks no joy.

cinders on past experience I shall probably blow a gasget!

Like JRM that well known brextremist who lives circa 1927 with attitudes to match, has described Carney as “the enemy of Brexit” almost certainly because Carney is doing his job properly.

FYI if you didn't already know. Next Tuesday 31/10/17 the BBC News Channel (freeview 107 or 130) are having a Brexit Day. Just hope the masses pay some attention. No idea what it will be like and what bias. Probably different items repeated so no need to stay glued all day.

It's a myth about the caterpillars which only live on nettles; apparently, Tegan

But don't worry if you can't bear to disturb them. I have a very plentiful supply of both nettles and wild garlic; I'd be delighted to keep Gnetters supplied next spring... grin

durhamjen Thu 26-Oct-17 00:24:32

I even have some nettles growing near my front door. I'll remove them if someone gets nettled, but until then, they can stay. At least once a week I get someone knocking on the front door asking if I want my drive clearing, and I have to say I like the weeds between the stones. They can probably all be made into delicious soup. They look at me in amazement.
We did once roast dandelion roots to make 'coffee'. Could easily do that again.

Worried about the butterfly eggs that may be on the nettles [that's my excuse for not doing much gardening]. Will have to gaze longingly at the nettles and go hungry. Wondered why butter was so expensive these days.

Cows getting their own back.

Make sure you only use young nettles, Tegan, and remove the caterpillars. Delicious with lots of wild garlic in, too.

petra Wed 25-Oct-17 23:16:11

Tegan2
What's really funny is a shortage of milk in France which has led a a massive price increase in butter.
You couldn't make it up, could you?
A country that size with much the same population as us and they have a milk shortage, shame.

Tegan2 Wed 25-Oct-17 20:10:54

I've just been watching one of my favourite programme; Further Back in Time for Dinner, and have been wondering if they'll do a 'post brexit' one [today's was the 1940's one and it could be quite similar; nettle soup anyone?!].

durhamjen Wed 25-Oct-17 19:07:56

You had me wondering, Jura.
No, Davis is not mostly harmless.

whitewave Wed 25-Oct-17 18:36:24

Didn’t have to wait that long!!

Local news is suggesting a possible u-turn over third runway at Heathrow and instead build another runway at Gatwick

jura2 Wed 25-Oct-17 17:22:34

Coudn't understand your post DJ- until I realised 'mostlyharmless' is a member here ;)

Now, back to Lemong's OP- perhaps today is the day ...

Getting 'back control' via losing centuaries of Parliamentary Democracy just can't happen. MPs have to have a vote on the deal before we leave - otherwise what is the point of voting our MPs???

whitewave Wed 25-Oct-17 17:16:36

That’s about it dj wonder what tomorrow’s u-turn will be?

mostlyharmless Wed 25-Oct-17 17:08:44

OMG!

durhamjen Wed 25-Oct-17 17:00:44

So is this right. Davis said we might not have a vote until after Brexit. Then he says it will be before Brexit. Then May says it will be after Brexit.

Then...?

durhamjen Wed 25-Oct-17 16:41:22

Exploitation of EU workers because of Brexit. No wonder they want to leave as soon as they can.

www.theguardian.com/law/2017/oct/24/youre-polish-you-wont-be-able-to-find-work-the-employers-exploiting-confusion-over-brexit

durhamjen Wed 25-Oct-17 16:24:41

I wonder who would leak the details.

mostlyharmless Wed 25-Oct-17 16:23:53

Shouldn't the Brexit team at least have a daily meeting to make sure they don't contradict each other within hours?

mostlyharmless Wed 25-Oct-17 16:22:26

Headless and chickens come to mind.......

durhamjen Wed 25-Oct-17 16:22:06

Shows what a doughnut Davis is, mostlyharmless.
A shame he doesn't disappear down the hole in the middle.
