To suggest the IRA was instrumental in the peace process misses out entirely the fact that Gerry Adams said he realised they couldn't bomb their way to a united Ireland. (I'm misquoting here but that was the implication)

I haven't read anyone here suggesting that the Loyalist Paramilitaries were not involved in criminal activity and murder, alongside the Republican Paramilitaries
