To suggest the IRA was instrumental in the peace process misses out entirely the fact that Gerry Adams said he realised they couldn't bomb their way to a united Ireland. (I'm misquoting here but that was the implication)

I haven't read anyone here suggesting that the Loyalist Paramilitaries were not involved in criminal activity and murder, alongside the Republican Paramilitaries

Well, if true, of course it is a 'story' if it is an MP who is arrested.

Hand back the six counties?! were it that simple!!!! I think the Protestant population just might be a tad unhappy with that arrangement! The Orange men would be out en masse, and the South isn't that keen on the unification of the Island of Ireland. Without a referendum it can't happen, and that doesn't look like happening in the foreseeable future.

if no one is complaining about the terrorists on the DUP side then why is there a problem with Corbyn who DIDN'T actually shoot anyone .Its that mindset that only the catholics were terrorists in NI ,and thats what caused a lot of the problems in the first place.The so called "troubles" Annie were originally about CIVIL RIGHTS ,I know some find it hard to believe or to understand how badly catholics were treated in NI until very recent times the Westminster governments apparently hasn't learned anything since the Good Friday Agreement.The simple solution would be to hand the six counties back and leave ALL of Ireland IN the EU ,where the majority want to be

DUP did that, led by Nigel Dodds and Sammy Wilson, who are both MPs now. It wasn't all one-sided.
They are now propping up May's government.

Irish protestors have always asked to be treated as political prisoners and had a good case to be so.(Incidently the suffragettes wanted the same thing and went on hunger strike because of that).
Does anyone seriously think that if everyone had adopted the same policies as the Conservatives (remember you weren't allowed to hear the voices of IRA members) the IRA would have been prepared to enter into the NI Peace Process? Please note I use capital letters for this. There is a difference between talking about the peace process as a general term and a specific one like the NI. Pity some people are unable to deb
