The company he works for deals with G4S, but he was removed from the account.
Be interesting to know which accounts he deals with instead.

Isn't Mr May on the board of G 4 S.?

Blinko Wed 25-Oct-17 19:49:40

They keep getting new contracts because it suits current Government policy to outsource everything and despite their failings, G4S and Serco are gobbling up being awarded as many Government contracts as they can lay hands on. Then HMG can claim to be running the country along commercial lines. Super!

Why do they keep getting new contracts considering the number of fraud enquiries there have been into them?

At least they only have 585,000 employees now, not the 620,000 they had then.

Baggs Wed 25-Oct-17 16:46:44

Don't we all have powers of arrest, in theory? Check out "citizen's arrest".

whitewave Wed 25-Oct-17 16:42:08

I think that they started up during the Thatcher years and have always been the subject of rumour about their dodgy trading standards.

AlieOxon Wed 25-Oct-17 16:41:12

And checking the date, this was 2013.
Sounds like ambitions to become police!

AlieOxon Wed 25-Oct-17 16:39:01

I googled just 'G4S' and among a lot of dubious happenings I found this. www.ft.com/content/a6b46fc0-4cc0-11e3-958f-00144feabdc0 .
I had no idea this company was so enormous.

durhamjen Wed 25-Oct-17 15:00:51

I am hoping that it is the thin end of the wedge and that more people will object.
They seem to want to give them more powers than trading standards officers, who usually have to go with the police if any raids are happening.
Serco and G4S paperwork leaves a lot to be desired, too. They are always being fined for lapses.

I know about the private prisons, dj - just saying this is one step further, wonder what next!

Alieoxon, G4S and Serco have run prisons for years.
They run Yarls Wood detention centre for women.

minesaprosecco Wed 25-Oct-17 12:49:43

Another step too far. We're living in a dystopian society.

whitewave Wed 25-Oct-17 12:44:15

Tories seem to know the price of everything but the value of absol utely nothing whatsoever.

AlieOxon Wed 25-Oct-17 11:52:17

(Not about citizens arrests.)

Private prisons, OMG what an idea.
Outsourcing.........try and say it's not always bad?

vampirequeen Wed 25-Oct-17 11:41:34

Sadly this time it's not fake news.

grannyactivist Wed 25-Oct-17 11:39:12

I have already signed the petition and am really cross about this proposal. At a time when police and PCSO's are struggling to carry out their remit I think that 'outsourcing' aspects of their role rather than increasing their numbers is iniquitous. The companies involved will not be carrying out these tasks as a public service, but as a money making enterprise. No, no, no!!!

Jane10 Wed 25-Oct-17 10:41:55

Can we still do citizens arrests?

petra Wed 25-Oct-17 10:32:53

AlieOxon
It's probably fake news as it's in the Daily Mail grin

AlieOxon Wed 25-Oct-17 10:31:31

People who haven't paid fines, I gather

Jane10 Wed 25-Oct-17 09:59:11

What? In the street or in prisons that they staff?
