I wish I understood the issue of remarriage of a divorced person in the Anglican Church. I have looked it all up and my understanding is that after the Genersl Synod of 2002, the church agreed that divorced people could be remarried in church if the priest agreed and there were exceptional circumstance. So no automatic right. Is this correct? If so, then I suppose the exceptional circumstances here are who the grooms dgm and df are?

Grandma70s - what's the first thing you notice about a bloke, or a girl in a crowded bar, a dance hall, at the water cooler? Their fine intellect? Umm , don't think so. It's physical attraction, then personality after the initial chat-up line, and then sheer lust ,which in the end usually settles down to a loving compatible relationship. Maybe poor Megan would be treated more sympathetically if she looked like the south end of a north-bound camel.

My instinct is that Harry’s attraction to her, which I concede is genuine, is too looks-based. That’s not really a good basis for a lasting marriage.

You don't know that jimmyrfu - I have friends who married briefly, disastrously, when they were young and then married for a second time. One lot are off celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary at the moment.

Princess Anne did married after her divorce and got round the C of E disapproval by taking herself and her intended off to Scotland (Balmoral) if I remember right, as the Kirk doesn't consider marriage a sacrament and isn't bothered how many times you do it, or if your previous spouse is still in the land of the living.
