I'm looking forward to seeing the Royal wedding tea towels, mugs and tea cosies on sale. Closely followed by the ones for the new royal baby.
Farage fails to report 5 million gift!
Hope this is not “fake news” but relief from the endless speculation.
Good luck to them! ??

Exactly suttonj it is a charade. If they were any other young couple they would move in together for a couple of years and then get married if they felt it was working. Instead we have to have the whole engagement announcement and then the wedding hype. Can't help thinking it's being done as part of the Firm's publicity campaign.
Of course a lot of children lose their mothers at a young age, but not many have to cope in the full glare of the whole WORLD hanging onto and reporting every move you make, the clothes you wear, the smile on your face, however you are feeling, every mistake, every triumph, no matter what it is even if it's not accurate, it's there for public consumption to be chewed over by all and sundry the world over whether you like it or not for the rest of your life. For all the privileges, I wouldn't want to be a royal!
Mary Eliza, you are spot on. It never fails to amaze how folk are taken in by this whole charade.
I heard a snippet of an interview with Meghan, where she talked about her deep commitment to, and desire to continue working for issues around equality. Yet she's marrying into the most archaic unequal institution of monarchy, whose very existence is prefaced on the notion that their blood is blue and therefore different to the rest of us. It's beyond parody.
With respect paddyann I don't suppose you know them either. We all form opinions based on different things, some from media coverage others from the existing political views, some from a mixture of both. Those who support a monarchy are not cap doffing, curtseying peasants - many are well educated and well read people who just happen to hold a differing opinion than your own
Interesting they want to be involved in countries of the commonwealth, lots of travel and plus strengthening the links between the commonwealth and the British throne
It's nice to have some nice news but we're never going to hear the end of this now.
Like you annie, I dislike gushing, but a lot of people don't, hence the wall to wall coverage!! We turned from the news
onto Eggheads yesterday as it was clearly going to be about this engagement for the whole programme. Not the fault of the young couple though, so no adverse feelings for them, just the BBC going on and on (and on!)
Republic or Monarchy? I don't have strong feelings either way but on balance I would rather have the Queen as head of state as like you TeriBull I cannot think of one other person who could come anywhere near the excellent job she does.
for all those we think they're a lovely couple a great match etc etc etc ...YOU dont know them...they neither know you nor care that you even exist. All the public is to the royal family is a source of income. As for harry losing his mother ....hundreds of kids will have lost their mothers that year ,,do we shower tham all with privilege ..do we still call them all poor boy/girl ? Its a lot of monsense !1 He's all the man he'll ever be and obviously happy with what his privileged life has given him...as to to the TRUMP or.PUTIN as president ...grow up...there are brilliant presidents all around the world. They do their job, they get paid for a limited time ,they dont have multiple homes or hundreds of hangers on and they do just fine ....and they get voted out after a few short years .
radicalnan I agree - it's the media frenzy that is very offputting. And now we will have inevitable comparisons between Meghan and Kate - and whether or not they get on. The whole of the media seems to have become an extended version of 'Hello'.
At least we are not hearing so much about Pippa these day
I presume you meant accurate - I was not trying to 'accurse' you in any way me

I thnk the media coverage is killing it a bit...........enough already! I can be happy for them and the tourist trade without hearing the same thing every ten minutes.
I think most of us knew the announcement was coming, I'm not a mad keen royalist, equally I don't have too many negative feelings about them either. I feel happy for Prince Harry, whilst he was born into a life of privilege, to lose a much loved mother at such a tender age has clearly affected him, and whilst he won't be alone in that, he has had the eyes of the world on him following his every move, his mistakes, weaknesses and flaws are subjet to such scrutiny that I sometimes feel that negates all the advantages of his birth. I think Megan has been a saviour for him, she is certainly a lovely woman and comes across very well. I think it's a positive imo that he's chosen someone with different facets to what would have once been considered the ideal.
Good luck to them both I wish them a happy life.
Having read all 7 pages on here (phew!) I'd really like to add my good wishes to the happy couple and say that I am looking forward to another Royal Wedding BUT not all the media hype. That drives me crazy - however I fully agree that it's not the fault of the Royals.
I did Lemon ,
I didn’t watch it Annie
Lemon, I wish them happiness , but hope we don't get more interviews like yesterday , I like the British way of not gushing ?
I think the chapel at Windsor would be a good choice.
I am a republican but cannot see how being one means you have to say insulting things about the present RF.
Especially about a young couple happy to be engaged.
Yes,the press coverage will be OTT, but that isn’t their fault is it?
You can choose to turn the tv off or over if it gets too much.
The CofE is happy to marry people who have been divorced. There's no reason they shouldn't have a Church wedding if that's what they want.
I was a Republican throughout much of my life, with constant requests from my father to name anyone who I thought could replace the Queen as head of state. I got a bit stuck after Nelson Mandela and Archbishop TuTu. I'm less radical these days on some issues, the monarchy being one. The notion of Trump, Putin and co being our H of S is beyond me.
Many of my pals are Republicans and I respect their views, as I do those posting here. What I don't understand is the level of hostility shown to those of us who are pleased that this young couple are planning a life together. Maybe a new OP on whether we should become a Republic and who we believe could do a better job than the Queen as head of state could be started by someone who cares enough.
Oh, I forget. Wolf whistles aren't popular either.
Maryeliza, if you don't have television or newspapers, how will you know what THE DRESS LOOKS LIKE!!!!
Of course those against are fully entitled to their views and are completely free to express them without being verbally beaten up BUT why the necessary to keep going on and on over and over expressing the same thing We know those of you who are anti you have told us, we have heard, we have accepted, please go and talk about something else
If I hated spiders I wouldn’t sit in a room with a big one crawling around why put yourself through the discomfort of listening to those who are all excited ( I m not by the way but I m happy for them)
But the Anglican Church does now allow divorcees to marry in church on two conditions, neither was at fault in the break up of the first marriage and IF the priest of the church agrees. I think Windsor and not virginal white with full train and six bridesmaids please.
And let's hope our TVs stations which will swamp us with replaying the wedding will not also give us america's tv station coverage too
That should of course be ceremony, the marriage is what follows as their life together.
I think as a divorcee, they should follow the example of his father and have a registery office marriage and a blessing.
I know that is nothing to do with me, just my opinion.
