Thanks, POGS, but it's really much better when it's sung.

Why could the government not have done this?

durhamjen Fri 08-Dec-17 16:43:31

"Okay for her cronies to be abusive..."
I really do not know Fascinating Aida.

MaizieD Fri 08-Dec-17 14:07:04

Well, I'm quite amused by the fact that it looks as though we're heading for the 'We're still in the EU but let's pretend we're not' option...

Day6
its beginning to look pathetic
It's been looking like ( for a long time now) like a comedy sketch from a satirical tv show.
I know you ( Day6 and others) have the imagination to picture it.

Brilliantly put. All this feeling sick, sleepless nights is beyond comprehension.

Exactly Petra.

This exaggeration by Remainers is all part of Project Fear though. The world is going to end in 2019 you know.

This is a whole new level of scaremongering and hysteria. It's beginning to look pathetic.

I bet they are really happy that 'substantial progress' has been made - not.

Day6 Fri 08-Dec-17 11:28:40

Indeed POGS.

Charming lyrics.

And DJ says she doesn't like posters swearing. Yet more hypocrisy. It's ok for her cronies to be abusive and she finds it amusing when Remoaners use obscenities.

durhamjen and mcem

I have to say I am not surprised you enjoyed the Fascinating Aida Song as it sums up exactly what I think some GN posters think about those who voted LEAVE too. It is good to know you enjoy sharing the same view on LEAVERS, very honest of you both.

mcem you actually are taking it literally when you say:-

" I'm aware that not everyone in England has to be described thus but it certainly applies here on GN from time to time."

durhamjen.
" The rest of us will appreciate it"
-----

So what does the song say in parts that has aroused your hilarity :-

'Someone's done a bad thing with fatal consequences.'

'Confess our collective guilt.'

'Madness of Brexit.'

'Britain is now comprehensibly fucked.'

'Sassenach Bampots believed all the lies.'

'Nicola Sturgeon be our saviour.'

'Hardly surprising you think we're all cunts.' shock
--

mcem when you say

" Good to know DJ that by ignoring your posts (as always) certain people will miss this wee gem.

The less narrow-minded among us will enjoy it!".

You might remind yourself that your perception of posters 'ignoring' posts might just be the case they have read them but thought they are not worthy of comment/ uninteresting/biased/fake news but occasionally one comes along that is note worthy.

And some are worried about the word 'hysteria'.

durhamjen Fri 08-Dec-17 08:55:44

"Friendly ECJ | The U.K. is rarely taken to the European Court of Justice, and when it is, it wins cases more often than most other EU member states, the Institute for Government said Friday. Pro-Brexit Conservatives loathe the court, seeing it as a symbol of lost sovereignty. Its role in the U.K. after Brexit is particularly contentious."

Another impact study to show how ridiculous the government stance on the ECJ is.

www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-12-07/u-k-doubles-exceptional-talent-visas-for-non-eu-residents

They must have done some sort of impact assessment to know that they needed to double the number of visas for those talented people from outside the EU.
Surely that wasn't just wishful thinking or guesswork.

Mamie Fri 08-Dec-17 04:33:19

Range not ange...

Mamie Fri 08-Dec-17 04:32:22

In he absence of anything more from the government, Richard North (leaver) has links to a number of detailed impact assessments for a ange of sectors here.

WRT Shultz and federal EU I offer this twitter thread:

Which rather supports Greta...
And remind you again, Shultz was blocked from standing for the EU presidency and Juncker was not at all a popular choice.

Have Leavers any evidence of EU countries that are in favour of federation?

durhamjen Thu 07-Dec-17 22:36:30

That's okay, mcem. The rest of us will appreciate it, like you said.

Any idea why GE are cuttting 1100 jobs in the UK? Couldn't be because of Brexit, could it?

mcem Thu 07-Dec-17 22:25:58

Good to know DJ that by ignoring your posts (as always) certain people will miss this wee gem.
The less narrow-minded among us will enjoy it!
Have always enjoyed Fascinating Aida so thanks for that.
I'm aware that not everyone in England has to be described thus but it certainly applies here on GN from time to time.

Blinko Thu 07-Dec-17 22:20:37

Any state that will not ratify this treaty will automatically leave the eu

So if we just hang in there and refuse to ratify this treaty when it arrives, we're 'automatically out of the eu'? Erm...isn't that the answer to this whole business?

Or am I missing something??

radicalnan [yes] know exactly what you mean.

CardiffJaguar Thu 07-Dec-17 20:44:00

Regarding Brexit there are good and bad points on both sides, as well as those who publish them. Here there is plenty of evidence that this whole matter has energised members to get involved and comment. That has meant much thought even by those who claim not to understand. If we are asked to vent our views elsewhere I believe we will do so with vigour.

MaizieD Thu 07-Dec-17 20:22:58

I seem to recall, from recent reading, that the reason that Juncker got the Commission presidency was that Merkel didn't want Shultz to get it. Perhaps she's not terribly keen on an EU federation either.
I really don't think this is a runner.

Greta Thu 07-Dec-17 19:54:00

Petra, Read some German newspapers and you will find that Schultz's ideas are described by many as 'absurd' and 'laughable'.

durhamjen Thu 07-Dec-17 19:35:23

Doesn't make any difference if we are out.
If we'd voted to stay in, we could have challenged it.

petra Thu 07-Dec-17 19:30:07

I meant to add, what about the lies the eu have been peddling with their denials RE a federal Europe

petra Thu 07-Dec-17 19:26:37

Let's suppose we did an impact assessment.
This tweet today from Martin Schultz. He wants this completed by 2025.
^I want a new constitution treaty to establish the United States of Europe.
A convention shall draft a treaty in Close cooperation with the civil society and the people. It's results will then be submitted to all member states
Now the scary bit. Any state that will not ratify this treaty will automatically leave the eu
So our assessment* wouldn't amount to a hill of beans.
His wishes are completely in line with junckers speech some weeks back.
