More Brexit lunacy

£490 million wasted spent on changing the colour of our passports. Which we could have done at any time in the last 30 years. Burgundy wasn't obligatory; not every EU country has a burgundy passport.

How many more £millions is this futile Brexit exercise going to cost the UK?

Somewhat ironic that the new blue is very similar to the colour of the EU flag...

Snap, Maizie.

MaizieD Thu 18-Jan-18 12:54:23

I'm afraid Leavers say they did it for their children and grandchildren, too. What's more, they're oh so nobly willing to live with the pain for a few years for the sake of the cake and unicorns their descendents will enjoy.

What I found worrying was the number of people who say they voted to leave for the sake of their children and grandchildren.

Macron encouraging people to move to France.

Elegran Thu 18-Jan-18 12:52:23

The average age of Gn members in a survey a couple of years ago was 60.
Hargreaves and Lansdown's Longevity calculator puts the average life expectancy of someone aged 60 at 89 years 2 months.
Put your age into this calculator and it will tell you your life expectancy (average for someone who has reached your age, no details of lifestyle differences etc) www.hl.co.uk/pensions/interactive-calculators/longevity-calculator

OH feels exactly the same as I do, he is 72.

durhamjen Thu 18-Jan-18 12:32:50

2 years older than you, jura.

durhamjen Thu 18-Jan-18 12:30:16

Remainers realised that, mostlyharmless. Brexiteers in denial.

mostlyharmless Thu 18-Jan-18 12:29:19

Same age as you jura.
Our children and grandchildren are the future of the country.

Daily Politics is talking about the £44 million to France (for the Touquet border Agreement) they're saying that we will need new bi-lateral agreements with all, or most, EU countries after Brexit!
Another time consuming and expensive cost from Brexit.

durhamjen Thu 18-Jan-18 12:27:17

About the vote and what Labour MPs were voting against.

Welshwife Thu 18-Jan-18 12:26:41

Well I can give you 10 Jura. grin

jura2 Thu 18-Jan-18 12:23:31

what about average age on GN I wonder?

GracesGranMK2 Thu 18-Jan-18 12:16:34

Average life-span is dropping Jura but I think women are still expected to get into their 80s although in some areas it is dropping a lot more than in others.

jura2 Thu 18-Jan-18 12:12:10

Not being morbid here- but I do wonder what the average survival rate we have on GN? I will be 67 soon, so perhaps another 10-15 years (although my parents were 96 and 94 on their demise, so not bad genes).

I do believe a lot of us on GN are quite a bit more senior. Whatever - we have had our time- and to be fair and right- the world does not belong to us, and neither does the UK- but to our children and grand-children.

whitewave Thu 18-Jan-18 11:59:34

Here you are specki

Greening has it right I think.

The young will simply reverse the chaos our generation has caused.

durhamjen Thu 18-Jan-18 10:30:19

But we'll have taken back the sovereignty that we never lost!

jura2 Thu 18-Jan-18 10:28:27

And I forgot- the other one pushed again and again - why can't we be like Switzerland and Norway- they are doing rather well.

Knowing full well that that would mean several things:

- continuation of Freedom of Movement

- paying very large sums of money to EU, larger than what we pay now

- have absolutely no say in the decision and rule making- but having to abide by all of them to Trade.

eg- much much worse than what we have NOW inside the EU.

jura2 Thu 18-Jan-18 10:12:19

And all the Tory leavers on interviews saying Leaving would be so quick and easy peasy.

whitewave Thu 18-Jan-18 10:03:19

Add on the bigger lie last week from Johnson

MawBroon Thu 18-Jan-18 09:54:04

If a picture is worth a thousand words, this instead.
Remember?

GracesGranMK2 Thu 18-Jan-18 09:53:06

What 'false information' was that then Wally?

I am sorry you may not vote again. We all should but we do live in a democracy and we can also all ask to change our minds too. You won't, obviously, but the majority may.

MawBroon Thu 18-Jan-18 09:51:01

One word Wally
BUS

jura2 Thu 18-Jan-18 09:27:14

Oh Wally, you can be such a wally sometimes.

Do we really have to talk about the 350m for NHS, Anon saying no-one in their right mind would even consider leaving the single market, etc, etc, etc,.

Wally Thu 18-Jan-18 08:55:48

After all the lies and false statistics that were put out by the remainers and the fact Cameron used taxpayers money to put across his message it takes my breath away that people think that leavers put out false information.

mostlyharmless Wed 17-Jan-18 23:53:30

The Lords next. No Brexit majority there. Should be interesting.
