More Brexit lunacy

£490 million wasted spent on changing the colour of our passports. Which we could have done at any time in the last 30 years. Burgundy wasn't obligatory; not every EU country has a burgundy passport.

How many more £millions is this futile Brexit exercise going to cost the UK?

Somewhat ironic that the new blue is very similar to the colour of the EU flag...

I get the feeling that his focus is entirely on domestic issues like the NHS, welfare and employment rights and he seems to leave Brexit to Starmer.

Corbyn needs to make his mind up as to what he now thinks is right and not keep sitting on the fence. He is a bit near retirement for all this prevaricating.

whitewave Tue 09-Jan-18 10:38:02

I think that Corbyn is factually incorrect when he states that you can’t be in the single market but outside of Europe. There are examples like Norway, Iceland and Liechenstein.

Starmer needs a word.

Davis complains in the letter that the EU is making preparations in the event of a no deal situation.

confused

whitewave Tue 09-Jan-18 09:35:43

Right folks will give it a go thanks.

In the mean time.

Davis has written to May and the letter has been leaked (what a shambles this government is) which warns of the huge loss of jobs in the event of a no deal.

I wonder if Maybot will try to make a “no deal” minister today, who on earth would be stupid enough to take that cup of poison?

By the way how much are all the new headings going to cost to change just for ministers vanity?

I paste using an iPad - put curser where you want to copy to and if you touch next to it as if to start typing but just keep it there a paste option will appear - or at least that’s what happens on my one.

Anyway, I actually came here to post this:

Chuka Umunna writing in the Independent

I've been meeting with representatives of the EU governments over the last few months. This is what they really think of Brexit

www.independent.co.uk/voices/brexit-eu-governments-reaction-uk-leave-trade-deal-customs-union-chuka-umunna-immigration-economy-a8147891.html

Some extracts:

Former US Special Envoy to Northern Ireland George Mitchell – who chaired the negotiations which led to the Good Friday Agreement in 1998 – says the key to successfully concluding any negotiation is “to gain the best possible understanding of what we routinely call the bottom line or the basic objectives for each party.” In their less guarded moments, “fantasy” and “delusion” are words commonly used by other EU member states’ ambassadors to describe our Government’s understanding of the EU’s negotiating position in the ongoing Brexit talks.

Overall, the dominant sentiment is that far from seeking to punish the British people for voting to leave the EU, the EU27 see this whole Brexit process as “damage limitation.” They believe Brexit is bad for them and us. If, when we see what the Brexit deal actually looks like, we want to change our minds and fight to reform the EU from within, they would be delighted.

There is unanimous acceptance that Article 50 is revocable and they would be very, very happy for the UK to continue as a member of the club. That is why it makes sense to keep an open mind on what we do at the end of these negotiations

Sorry have been in the greenhouse.
By golly, I hope it was heated.
It's bitter here, have to go out in a bit and I am not looking forward to it.

So is it the Wetherspoons man? I don't think he has quite such a tan as Stringfellow.

whitewave Mon 08-Jan-18 12:17:13

Sorry have been in the greenhouse.

Are you on a pc whitewave?
If so, highlight what you want to link, then Control C, come on here and Control V and it will appear. I'm not sure if you still have to put these around [[ ]] but I still do.

If on an iPad I don't know.

MaizieD Mon 08-Jan-18 11:00:52

Because, if you can do that you can do links! All you need to do is copy the page URL and paste it into your post.

Ignore the Gnet instructions. (though even the instructions say that links are converted automatically, and they most definitely are.)

MaizieD Mon 08-Jan-18 10:56:47

Can you copy and paste, ww?

whitewave Mon 08-Jan-18 10:51:55

I can’t do links seem to have a technology block in my brain.

whitewave Mon 08-Jan-18 10:51:16

Look at remaniacs podcast on twitter

whitewave Mon 08-Jan-18 10:50:26

On twitter, but I think it is in the Standard.

MaizieD Mon 08-Jan-18 10:48:46

Blimey, ww! Can you link to his tweets?

Perhaps one of his employees has hacked into his account wink

Welshwife Mon 08-Jan-18 10:46:41

How interesting!! Where did you see that WW - I missed it - he has been so obnoxious about it all up till now.

whitewave Mon 08-Jan-18 10:37:57

What has happened to Wetherspoons Stringfellow?

He was an out and out brexiter, but is now tweeting that Brexit is a disaster, that he is a true Englishman and that it (Brexit) should never have happened -that the referendum was a total sham!!

More and more people are beginning to feel very uncomfortable about the sham of a referendum which throws democracy in our country in a very bad light. Votes were bought by a shadowy rich and powerful elite.
