It is not given to me to start a threads on politics, I don't believe I have ever contributed to one either.
However I cannot let pass the comment from a conservative councillor currently skiing in the USA who wants the homeless and rough sleepers cleared from the streets of
Windsor before the wedding in May.
God forbid that visitors here to see an obscene and ostentatious picture of wealth and privelage should be confronted by the "have nots" of our society.

The ‘female’ is actually the 25 year old ‘model’ that the current UKIP leader left his wife and two very young children for.

Anniebach Sun 14-Jan-18 09:03:17

UKIP has suspended the female who posted the remark,

Markle! iPad thinks it knows best

whitewave Sun 14-Jan-18 08:39:51

I see UKIP has posted some foul racist remark about Markel.

UKIP has also threatened war if Brexit does not come about.

What charmers they are, and it really is time that the media and main political parties call them out for what they are.

They could give them all tickets to the FA cup final and bus them there.
I think they should put up a marquee and invite them all to a 'reception'.
Although some may prefer to go to the footie (I didn't realise it was the same day, guess what will be on the telly in our house! - the FA cup final of course).

Not a good day to choose - didn't HM keep popping out of Charles and Camilla's wedding reception to watch a horse race?

gillybob Thu 11-Jan-18 18:21:05

Blimey does that mean neither Willy or Harry will be at the FA cup final? Do you think they'll have it on a big screen "in the next room" at their reception? Then the men (and some women of course) can pop in and out and catch bits of it. In fact if they turn the sound up loud enough they could still hear ......GOAL.....

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/205388

A petition to repeal the vagrancy act 1824.
It's ridiculous that we are still using this nearly 200 years later to criminalise rough sleepers.

If they do it the night before the wedding they may find they have a huge job on their hands

They can, wonder if the PM will be invited

Jalima1108 Wed 10-Jan-18 17:11:54

St George's Chapel is not that large - I think it holds about 800. Surely they can fill it up with enough family, extended family, friends, charity workers so that there simply won't be any room for anyone remotely connected to politics.

Anniebach Wed 10-Jan-18 16:38:11

They will have to do what the palace tells them to do

Day6 Wed 10-Jan-18 15:54:40

I bet H and M have already discussed running away to Gretna Green to get married! grin

Wedding guest lists can be a nightmare at the best of times.

They'd do well to invite only close personal friends (the Obamas don't come into this category) and the (must have?) heads of state connected to the commonwealth and leave it at that. Trump won't be miffed if other politicians aren't asked.

Anniebach Wed 10-Jan-18 15:11:50

Wonder if party leaders will be invited

lemongrove Wed 10-Jan-18 14:18:23

We have all those hats to look forward to criticising! grin
Especially Beatrice and Eugenie’s.

lemongrove Wed 10-Jan-18 14:16:02

I would think that’s true Annie

Anniebach Wed 10-Jan-18 12:46:30

He cannot be invited unless all presidents are invited surely , just as all royals from Europe are invited not just one country

Jalima1108 Wed 10-Jan-18 12:42:00

I hope not.

Have you noticed that sometimes there is a guest at a wedding or a bridesmaid or someone - who always makes it all about them and not about the bride and groom.
If he is invited (and I doubt that) then he will in all probability be making it all about him.

Put your foot down Meghan!

Anniebach Wed 10-Jan-18 12:37:42

It may be their wedding but they will have to accept it cannot be all their way

Jalima1108 Wed 10-Jan-18 12:37:11

Trump has said that if he isn't invited, we don't get our post-Brexit trade deal.
Stamping his foot as he says it, no doubt

good,no chlorine washed chicken then...we will be missing out ...
paddyann grin

Jalima1108 Wed 10-Jan-18 12:35:27

I think it will be a 'family wedding' rather than a state occasion like Harry's parents wedding.

I can't see Meghan wanting Trump there and, Royal Family or not, it's her and Harry's wedding.

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 10-Jan-18 00:14:15

Apparently the Obamas didn't attend William and Kate's wedding because of the cost of the security for them and all the palaver that goes with it. They were due on a State visit a month later, so there was no snub. But the Royals are supposed to stay politically neutral, so heads of state who are invited to Royal weddings are usually family or from the Commonwealth.

As mostlyharmless said this wedding is not a state wedding, it's a family wedding. In the past Trump has made inappropriate comments about Diana and Kate. Meghan has spoken our against Trump, so I really can't see that he'll be invited. There's been enough fuss over a possible state visit.

Imagine the protests in Windsor if Trump was invited.

mostlyharmless Tue 09-Jan-18 23:02:02

It would be impossible to have Trump there. He would create a huge security risk (plus the risk of protests). If he couldn't be invited then it would be undiplomatic to invite Obama.
I think it's not officially a formal state wedding - it's being paid for by the family - so the guest list should be a private issue.
BUT .... diplomacy is always an important consideration in any wedding guest list!

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 09-Jan-18 22:46:57

It could be one of the things in the book that is true. Apparently even if only 50% of the book is true, it will be sensational. I am very surprised to hear that the publisher is going ahead with no changes. With all the legal advice Trump has on hand, I'd have thought a legal challenge for stopping the book would be brought.
