It is not given to me to start a threads on politics, I don't believe I have ever contributed to one either.
However I cannot let pass the comment from a conservative councillor currently skiing in the USA who wants the homeless and rough sleepers cleared from the streets of
Windsor before the wedding in May.
God forbid that visitors here to see an obscene and ostentatious picture of wealth and privelage should be confronted by the "have nots" of our society.

Well it is now the turn of Princess Eugenie to get married. I wonder if the Duchess of York will be spoken to by the D of Edinburgh at the Reception. I am sure the Queen will be perfectly fine.

Jalima1108 Tue 16-Jan-18 17:56:31

He could be Henery XIII Leader of UKIP
- or even Henery XV!

The future King ( a long way in the future)

lemongrove Mon 15-Jan-18 22:44:36

I have been suffering from fat fingers lately.

Iam64 Mon 15-Jan-18 19:44:07

Jalima1108 Mon 15-Jan-18 19:41:33

Are morals out of fashion these days?

Iam64 Mon 15-Jan-18 19:39:49

jura2, couldn't agree more, the man is a real heal isn't he.

jura2 Mon 15-Jan-18 19:11:44

What sort of man, already divorced with 1 child (first wife was Danish!) - has 2 children with a woman (this time a Russian!) first child when she is 38 and second one at 41- born on a train at St Pancras station- so likely to have been traumatic - embarks on an affair almost immediately with a woman half his age. ??? Really bad sad says a lot about him sad

durhamjen Mon 15-Jan-18 17:41:25

Just as long as Brexiteers don't have anything to thank Henry V111 for.

Ilovecheese Mon 15-Jan-18 17:36:39

Or teenage wives

durhamjen Mon 15-Jan-18 17:26:45

Or torture their courtiers to admit to adultery with the queen.

Anniebach Mon 15-Jan-18 16:41:58

Or adulterous wives

durhamjen Mon 15-Jan-18 16:10:09

Have to thank Henry V111 for that. At least they no longer behead unwanted wives.

Well a divorce rate of 75% in one nuclear family does make you wonder about all sorts of things doesn’t it? But having said that, I’m glad that they were able to divorce because in the past how many thoroughly awful royal marriages were there - Princes of Wales don’t have a good track record.

Anniebach Mon 15-Jan-18 11:49:23

Jalima, the RF divorce rate rose with queenies children , for such a large family I think four divorces are not high, but I am including all the windsors , oh and a seperation but no divorce . Suppose early days for the younger branch

Jalima1108 Mon 15-Jan-18 11:31:35

divorce rate is over 40%
And in some families much higher eg the Royal Family.
I do hope that this one is a keeper.

maryeliza54 Mon 15-Jan-18 11:27:40

I don’t think anyone is suggesting a link between political party and marital breakdown. Obviously there is the particular context of Westminster which may make affairs more likely - who knows though? Also some marriages breakdown in situations that seem more reprehensible than others - such as walking out days before Christmas when you have a 1 and 4 year old. I also thought Robin Cooks dumping of his wife by phone (was it?) from an airport pretty awful too. But we never know the full story do we? Don’t half of all marriages end in divorce these days - and before divorce reform there were very very many unhappy marriages where, in particular women were trapped.

Anniebach Mon 15-Jan-18 11:26:16

I don't think it is more prevalent in politics than RL, divorce rate is over 40% . A politician having an affair will make the news, not the milkman or postman

Bridgeit Mon 15-Jan-18 11:23:19

I'm agree Dandylion , well said .

Dandylion Mon 15-Jan-18 11:20:12

Why does the Country still have to have UKIP? The procession of sleaze-ball Chairmen is depressing to endure and their purpose has evaporated post-Referendum. Get off the scene and give us all back our dignity.

Jalima1108 Mon 15-Jan-18 11:05:14

I think it happens across the political spectrum ie husbands dumping wives, vice vera, affairs etc.
Is it more prevalent than in RL?
