The Poverty of Brexit

Poverty of ideas
Poverty of economy

It seems that NI is as useless said to stay in the Single Market according to EU draft.

Expect a major row from the headbangers and denial from Number 10

Round and around we go.

So transition to take as long as it takes - official.

Has the EU agreed?

It’s funny how the Brexiteers now find it inconvenient to have a second referendum. They seemed so happy to advocate two back when all this started.

This is on this thread because the cause is Brexit

Is Jacob doing a Boris?

My grandson said, "I guess Bercow is not a Tory any more, then."

Welshwife Wed 21-Feb-18 13:44:19

I thought Bercow was good - it has just developed into a slanging and insulting match - her ‘joke’ about cheques/ Czechs was a bit below the belt.

whitewave Wed 21-Feb-18 13:28:09

ww wasn’t that the most dreadful PMQs ever?

Welshwife Wed 21-Feb-18 13:23:39

Also TM continued the untruth that the EU made U.K. have red passports - completely untrue - all sorts of colours are allowed and not all countries with an EU passport have red ones.

Tegan2 Wed 21-Feb-18 13:23:21

But it was supposed to be SO EASY wasn't it. Perhaps project fear was right again....

whitewave Wed 21-Feb-18 13:01:38

To be honest I think the EU is being much more realistic and tends to deal in evidence as opposed to the U.K. government muddling along driving the civil service mad by refusing to listen to evidence and only their own confused ideological stance.

mostlyharmless Wed 21-Feb-18 12:50:21

Will the EU allow an open length of transition though? Certainly seems a good way of easing us out of EU. Extending transition until everything finalised and stable .... perhaps going on and on until next election? Or forever?

whitewave Wed 21-Feb-18 12:45:27

Forget the 2 year transition as well

Corbyn roasted May at PMQ:
”The Government isn’t on the road to Brexit. They’re on the road to nowhere!”

"The Brexit secretary promised Brexit wouldn't end up like a Mad Max style dystopia" - can we set the bar higher than that?”

whitewave Wed 21-Feb-18 12:08:30

Even those who voted for Brexit ought to be alarmed at this coup. Nothing to do with the will of the people and everything to do with minute group of individuals who are riding roughshod over our democracy.

mostlyharmless Wed 21-Feb-18 11:41:53

Where are all the moderate Conservative MPs who stood for Remain before the Referendum?
Apart from a few (Soubry, Grieve, and friends) where are they hiding? What are they so scared about?
Even Labour MPs seem not to have the courage of their convictions and are hedging their bets.

mostlyharmless Wed 21-Feb-18 11:37:08

I like the analogy dj.
“I’ll scweam and scweam until I’m sick.” Violet Elizabeth in Just William.

A group of about 60 extreme tory brexiteers have just issued their orders to TM. If less than 10% of mps can impose their death wish agenda on our country, how could that ever be called democracy?

mostlyharmless Wed 21-Feb-18 11:30:17

And the country is tearing itself apart in the process.
So much hatred around.

durhamjen Wed 21-Feb-18 09:15:05

It makes me think of a little girl who stamps her foot and says she'll cry until she gets what she wants; but she doesn't know what she wants, the grown-ups should know that.

Lovetopaint037 Wed 21-Feb-18 08:47:43

I just want to cry. This country has been through tough times and we have always come out of the troubles with a fighting spirit but this is the first time that we have actually dug ourselves a great big hole which was unnecessary. The leavers seem to be living in a bubble of complete dissonance. That is “I voted for it so I can’t be responsible for a disaster so it is all made up”.

Yes the ERG group are Rees Mogg’s cronies who have sorted themselves into a far right hard Brexit group. Threatening May with disruption. We know that she has no spine, so ultimately it will be down to the two Tory parties i.e. the hard right and right of centre.

whitewave Wed 21-Feb-18 07:46:22

durhamjen Wed 21-Feb-18 00:05:25

Isn't the ERG the group that is lead by Rees-Mogg?

GracesGranMK2 Tue 20-Feb-18 22:05:04

I saw that whitewave but couldn't work out who belonged to it.

whitewave Tue 20-Feb-18 21:10:07

The link is a copy of the demands by the ERG signed by 60 MPs

Other Tory MPs are angry about these demands.
