Poverty of ideas
Poverty of economy

It seems that NI is as useless said to stay in the Single Market according to EU draft.

Expect a major row from the headbangers and denial from Number 10

Round and around we go.

Yes ?

durhamjen Mon 19-Mar-18 20:28:30

Is that not on Newsthump?
I didn't know the fail did spoof.

whitewave Mon 19-Mar-18 20:23:39

Blimey

TheDaily Fail is reporting that May is planning to employ Cambridge Analytica to help her fight the elections

whitewave Mon 19-Mar-18 19:38:15

What is so bloody frustrating is that we raged on about this before and since the election, and nothing was done.

whitewave Mon 19-Mar-18 19:34:15

Exactly harmless

mostlyharmless Mon 19-Mar-18 19:32:32

”It’s no good fighting an election campaign on the facts because actually it’s all about emotion”

EXCLUSIVE: Senior Cambridge Analytica figures say they targeted voter's unspoken hopes and fears to help win elections. #CambridgeAnalyticaUncovered

Brexit was definitely all about emotion. Experts just dismissed. Heart over head.

whitewave Mon 19-Mar-18 19:28:14

Watch away! Perhaps they’ll come on and tell us their involvement in Brexit. We know Banks and Farage have a close relationship with the owner Mercer and Bannon another co-conspirator

mostlyharmless Mon 19-Mar-18 19:17:21

Do you think they’re watching us all on Gransnet too?

mostlyharmless Mon 19-Mar-18 19:12:48

How much does Cambridge Analytica know about you? Take this test to find out.

I put a link on to that earlier on the thread, jura.
Can you imagine having him for PM?

On the other hand Philip May does some dealings in tax havens, too.
This is probably why they are so slow about going after Russian oligarchs; they would have to go for other rich people as well.
After all, it's only 24% of offshore businesses buying big mansions using money from tax havens that are connected to Russians. The other 76% must come from somewhere else.

Mamie Mon 19-Mar-18 17:52:23

Looking forward to the Channel 4 news item on Cambridge Analytica tonight. Not to be missed.

jura2 Mon 19-Mar-18 17:49:52

Now here is a surprise, hey (not):

The Conservatives are heading for another embarrassing public relations disaster after it was revealed that Jacob Rees-Mogg has invested millions of pounds in a blacklisted Russian bank.

Sberbank, based in Russia, is currently under EU and US sanctions, imposed over the annexation of the Crimea by Russia in 2014.

Mr Rees-Mogg’s company, Somerset Capital Management Ltd, has £58 million invested in it.

Note also that the bank extended a huge line of credit to the Trump Tower developer. All in it together?

Really hope the proverbial will soon hit the fan.

So really either full alignment for U.K. or effectively allow EU to takeover NI. Neither acceptable to Brexiteers I would have thought.
I thought that (full alignment) was the December position but then May seemed to back-pedal to “managed divergence” after Chequers meeting.
Why bother? Just forget Brexit.

www.theguardian.com/business/2018/mar/18/brexit-cbi-urges-uk-to-avoid-loss-of-1bn-a-year-in-eu-rd-funding

I wonder where this fits in Brexiteer plans.

whitewave Mon 19-Mar-18 17:03:30

Yes I thought the back stop was full alignment I must say. Tbh I don’t think there is really an answer. Oh well ever downwards!

durhamjen Mon 19-Mar-18 16:52:36

infacts.org/pm-frightful-pickle-irish-border/

Northern Ireland border for your perusal.
The tories on Daily Politics didn't like it.

jura2 Mon 19-Mar-18 16:35:35

Neither has Gibraltar ..

whitewave Mon 19-Mar-18 15:54:49

Still the business world is appreciating what looks a possible soft Brexit.

MaizieD Mon 19-Mar-18 15:48:10

But the NI border still hasn't been sorted. If the UK can't come up with anything then we get a border in the Irish sea.

The DUP won't like that one little tiny bit...

Will they abandon their pact with the devil the tories or will they demand a bigger bung?

whitewave Mon 19-Mar-18 15:45:05

The loons are beginning to get up steam as expected.

mostlyharmless Mon 19-Mar-18 15:36:47

confused

Tegan2 Mon 19-Mar-18 15:30:59

Rejoice, of course; we have all these amazing trade deals to look forward too. No strings attached, of course. We can now sell to everywhere on the planet.......

mostlyharmless Mon 19-Mar-18 15:22:28

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry!

varian Mon 19-Mar-18 15:16:51

Right now we have the best deal of any EU country- not in Schengen or the Euro, but with a rebate.

We are in, but with great opt-outs. Now we are trying to be out with opt-ins.

The most important difference will be that we will have no say in anything. We will have GIVEN UP CONTROL.

mostlyharmless Mon 19-Mar-18 14:45:14

And of course, we are frantically negotiating with the aim of getting a worse deal than the (rather good) deal we have already! You couldn’t make it up.....
