It was not a debate on Bloody Sunday, it was a debate on setting up the enquiry for Bloody Sunday

The apology was the reason so many were there Annie a great publicity opportunity. I didn't claim to be there for the apology or the findings, simply for the Bloody Sunday debate and said few were there. It would be helpful if you could post comments about what was actually said and not what you imagine someone said. A discussion on setting up the enquiry was the Bloody Sunday debate, not the findings of the enquiry, which was a speech making opportunity.

Trisher , that was a discussion on setting up the enquiry , my links showed the house discussing the findings of the enquiry . Big difference.

The apology was not the reason for the debate on the findings.

MPs leave at all sorts of times. Many are rarely there. The debates are there to present a public face, much of the real work goes on in committee and isn't seen.

Leaving and entering the chamber is usually done between debates, not in the middle of one and not when the MP's you lead are speaking. Corbyn walked out because he doesn't give a damn that these MP's endure such vile abuse.

trisher you are right people leave the chamber all the time, however, one has to ask whether it was wise for him to leave during a discussion about the abuse directed to some members of his party and calling into question his actions, or non-actions on that abuse.

MPs walk in and out of the chamber at all times Annie usually because they have appointments, or other commitments. Sometimes even what might be considered very important discussions are poorly attended. I was in the chamber when the report on Bloody Sunday was being debated-there was virtually no-one there when I went in. I have no idea if people had left or had never been there. I have no idea why Corbyn left but it isn't unusual.

No one has ever suggeasted that the abusive and frankly unbalanced comments posted by a few people on social media are in any way acceptable. However if these comments contravene the law surely the best course anyone can take is to contact the police and ask that they be properly investigated and the offenders dealt with. The person posting may also be targeting other people and needs to be stopped.
I don't expect any sensible replies. This thread as with all the rest is just the same posters posting the same things.

I absolutely agree with the comments suggesting that if the anti semitic comments had been aimed at Muslims or people from the black community, there would have been outrage. I have no doubt that Corbyn would have spoken out and I very much doubt Diane Abbott would have commented that she's had the worst abuse than anyone else.

I despair at those who minimise the abuse by simply linking it to the Israeli - Palestinian issues. I repeat what Ive said on previous posts, I do not support the ill treatment and oppression of any group and that includes the Palestinian people. None of that justifies the abuse that these two Jewish women MP's have been subjected to. It's unforgivable.
