A continuation of Momentum/Intertia/Magnetism/Elasticity but with a less scientific bias. grin

A thread about Corbyn. For lovers and haters.

sunseeker Thu 10-May-18 13:33:32

Sorry trisher I am not going to trawl through old threads to find them - I am sure other GNs will remember them even if you seem to have a selective memory.

You are stating again that those who vote Tory are racist and intolerant and once again claiming that only those on the left care about those less fortunate. This is unfair on those of us who are actively helping those in need.

Jalima1108 Thu 10-May-18 13:32:54

Just when I thought we could have a sensible discussion as the poster you are supporting seems to be taking a break.

Never mind.

Anniebach Thu 10-May-18 13:32:18

I was against the war in .iraq but remained a Blair supporter and very much a Gordon Brown supporter, he is a true socialist as am I. My fifty years as a party member is mocked daily by a poster who claims not to be a Labour Party member yet TELLS me what to say at LP meetings .

1945 brought in a government which did much good, it was booted out after five years , Blair won three consecutive elections , the only labour leader to do this. How can left of centre be wrong , the far left took us to the 1983 defeat which was humiliating and took fourteen years to work back from, and we did work, .kinnock worked , we got back because we went back to the center.

trisher Thu 10-May-18 13:31:33

And the acclamation and encouragement they give each other is positively childish. Unfortunately they continue to post the same rubbish, believing apparently they have won some sort of battle when people give up
I will leave you 'ladies' to entertain each other.

Jalima1108 Thu 10-May-18 13:31:23

trisher nothing will change regarding all the concerns about homeless, food banks, privatisation going too far as long as Labour remains unelectable under Corbyn et al.

Unfortunately, Welsh education is lagging behind the rest of the UK - under Labour. Unfortunately, "every child matters" doesn't seem to be applied there.

The only way ahead for any change to come about is for the moderates to take charge of the LP - with sensible, moderate ideals.

lemongrove Thu 10-May-18 13:25:50

....and an important point ( to the poster who said it) it isn’t a hamster wearing a Russian hat it’s a guinea pig.grin

lemongrove Thu 10-May-18 13:24:37

Well said annie you would think they had got that message by now.

Jalima1108 Thu 10-May-18 13:24:17

I am not keen on Blair at all (don't suggest that he comes back grin)

It would be good to know what is going on with the more moderate and sensible Labour MPs and if there are any plans afoot to loosen the grip that Momentum has.
There are a lot of decent constituency MPs out there who are too frightened to speak out.

lemongrove Thu 10-May-18 13:21:58

Any other words of wisdom trisher ? Preferably ones about Corbyn or politics and less about other posters on GN.

Day6 Thu 10-May-18 13:21:16

I agree Jalima, but frighteningly, behind the old Marxist rebel there is a whole army of hard left support. Grandad keeps telling us how membership grew because of Corbyn.

They rejected Blairism which was the moderate form of Labour.

I think Labour is scrabbling about without a plan, looking for a place in British politics. Most people would say their politics are in the centre. Common sense and decency has to prevail. The hard right and hard left only attract those with selfish motives.

Anniebach Thu 10-May-18 13:21:08

Enough is enough, I joined this forum and said from the start said I am a member of the labour, when I supported Corbyn I was chocolate, then I learned more about him, found him to be a hypocrite and said so. Since that day I have been under attack, not because I was unpleasant to posters, I posted my views on Corbyn, this meant I was verbally attscked , Tory spy, anti union, which is a lie, I am against the power they had in the seventies and early eighties. Constantly told I hate Corbyn, no, I dislike him, think him a hypocrite, find his - I feel your pain, nauseating .
Just before Joe Cox was murdered she wrote she had been wrong to support Corbyn, if she had lived she would have been in line for deselection, she died and Corbyn did a grand display of laying flowers.

Socialism is not communism , I am a socialist , can never, ever support far left politics . I am mocked because of this, where is resonable debate been trisher, you have adopted the new mantra - my way or no way.

trisher Thu 10-May-18 13:19:47

Name me one sunseeker I can raise you several Corbyn threads.
Day6 I have no problem (apart from finding them sometimes racist and intolerant) with anyone who votes Tory and accepts that in doing so they are supporting a party that believes in a small state, who recognise that the result of such belief is the scaling down of support for education, health care and the welfare state, and who accept the results of such policies will be felt by the poorest and weakest in society.
But this blaming the Labour party for being too left wing is such a cop out.
The. Tories can't steal the caring role because they don't care. The figures using food banks, the numbers of homeless, the huge cuts to school budgets prove they don't. At least admit as real Tories do that you don't care and stop being so mealy mouthed about it
lemon for boring you take the biscuit,

Jalima1108 Thu 10-May-18 13:09:56

When will they get the message? It seems to be taking a long time to sink in, or perhaps it is because any dissension from more moderate MPs, even those with large majorities who are popular with their constituents, is met with threats.

We don't need an old left-wing rebel in charge - we need someone with more intelligence, gravitas and the ability to bring the party together for the future.

Smileless2012 Thu 10-May-18 13:09:35

Is there any possibility, however small that Corbyn's resignation be called for so a new leader could be elected?

The prospect of a Labour Gov. doesn't exactly fill me with glee but the prospect of Corbyn as PM is frankly terrifying.

lemongrove Thu 10-May-18 13:05:20

Back to Comrade Corbyn, have read that they are having many meetings to discuss why they didn’t do better in local elections, they don’t understand it as they flooded towns with activists etc etc.The short answer, ( to help them out, I know how tedious meetings can be) is that they did all they could do but many people do not like quasi Marxist policies and do not trust Corbyn and friends an inch, therefore reject Labour councillors.

lemongrove Thu 10-May-18 12:59:46

The biter bit? grin

sunseeker Thu 10-May-18 12:56:09

trisher said "established purely to feed the need of those posters who enjoy applauding each other".

I have lost count of the number of threads I have stopped reading because it has just been those on the left agreeing with each other, those with a different viewpoint who attempted to post were immediately treated to the usual insults - it can and does work both ways.

lemongrove Thu 10-May-18 12:53:24

trisher you may not be selfish, or old ( we don’t know ages on GN) or a Tory, but you have certainly become boring.

Day6 Thu 10-May-18 12:48:39

They consistently assert how caring they are, denying they are Tories or reactionary but showing in every word right wing bias.

Ahh....you are doing it again. Only people who vote for Corbyn care.

What a crock of shit.

This is the mantra. If you don't vote Labour you don't care. It's the way lefties work, claiming they have the monopoly on care.

If there was an election right now I'd vote Tory and feel very sorry for the blinkered deluded 'come the revolution' idiots who voted for the hard left Labour Party who are looking after themselves.

Does any one of your bleeding hearts actually DO anything to help the less well off or disadvantaged? Most Labour voters are middle class and wealthy and they vote left because they like to appear right-on.

Turn their highly desirable residences into a home of multiple occupation and take away all their disposable income so they cannot buy their wine or pay the au pair and watch them squirm.

I do not want the Labour Party I trusted in the shape it's in now. It's a vanity project for the hard left, who have shown the UK how clueless they are.

I won't vote Labour. It's about time the Tory party marketing team stole some of Labour's 'I care' rhetoric because most of the people who shun Labour not only care a great deal but have less money than your average Labour voter who will be academic and middle class, but daren't vote Tory (as if it were a badge of shame)

If Marxists say it is then run to the right, because the less fortunate are their play-things, the fodder for their campaigns, and the ones less well off than most Labour voters will be paying for left wing lunacy.

I will agree that the Conservative Party marketing team is a joke and Conservative campaigns need to bring on board all those who reject the far left.

The Labour Party of old, in the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s may have had a valid reason for existence. The one we have today has lost it's way and represents not one of the compassionate, caring, thoughtful, decent people I know, who are not self centred and certainly not rich.

But carry on trisher, repeating the myth that only Labour supporters care. Most of the country doesn't care for them.

Jalima1108 Thu 10-May-18 12:46:23

I am surprised, trisher to see you defending Grandad's posts which are now without reasoned comment about politics - the latest ones are nothing to do with politics but all to do with himself and his virtue signalling about his 'modern attitudes' towards women hmm - but failing to get that message across in a most spectacular fashion.

Jalima1108 Thu 10-May-18 12:40:09

Which is why sunseeker you will find few left wing posters on GN.
But there must be many who are centre left, centre and centre right.
we are regularly ascribed beliefs we do not hold, but that seems to be acceptable.
You are absolutely spot on there, trisher, well said - because anyone who does not follow Corbyn slavishly is a far right Daily Mail reader - a boring, selfish old right wing Tory.

trisher Thu 10-May-18 12:32:12

Which is why sunseeker you will find few left wing posters on GN. Some have left some dip in and out occasionally. Most ignore the threads established purely to feed the need of those posters who enjoy applauding each other.
As for left wing posters calling others names, we are regularly ascribed beliefs we do not hold, but that seems to be acceptable.
lemon I am entirely used to being in the minority on GN. In fact I prefer it. It shows that I have held on to my beliefs and principles and not become a boring, selfish old right wing Tory.

Day6 Thu 10-May-18 12:27:09

I wonder if his notes Include directions? - pause , look over specs, lean forward, glare etc

Hahaha! grin

He probably needs that guidance. He also gets instructed to exit stage left when any uncomfortable discussion comes up or when a Jewish Labour MP has a grievance.

mostlyharmless Thu 10-May-18 12:24:54

The title of the thread gives a big clue that this thread is not here to attempt reasoned debate, but is just a playground (complete with hamster).
Obviously boys are not welcome in this playground.

sunseeker Thu 10-May-18 12:18:33

I have noticed in the past that reasoned debate was often cut off by those on the left using the "DM reader, racist" insult (although not so much recently).

Whilst I am not aware of you trisher using "rhetoric and bile", it has been used in the past by those on the left and quite honestly why would anyone continue to debate with someone who resorts to insults.
