A continuation of Momentum/Intertia/Magnetism/Elasticity but with a less scientific bias. grin

A thread about Corbyn. For lovers and haters.

Grandad1943, again I must ask, do not question why I choose to post anything which is not against HQ rules, I wouldn’t ask you why have the need to write epistles , it’s your choice . You are free to ignore my posts as I am free to whiz past your epistles

Grandad1943 Tue 08-May-18 18:57:36

anniebach, you stated that this "information" was propogated by a Tory MP. Therefore many would believe that it was nothing short of "Conservative propaganda". You then Annie repeated that propaganda on this forum which was propogated against the party that you state you have been a member of for flighty years.

So, why repeat that information on here, rather than attending your district Labour party meeting and discussing it there especially if you feel the information is true. In the foregoing, discussing the matter at that meeting may just begin to change matters in the the Labour party you feel are wrong. After all it is the party you must so love as you have subscribed to it for fifty years.

Heidi Alexander is moving to an appointed post as deputy mayor for transport on a salary which is double what MPs receive, so good luck to her. She is also good friends with Sadiq Khan so I'm sure they will enjoy working together.
Dan Jarvis is staying as an MP at the moment as the Sheffield mayoral role doesn't yet have the same level of responsibility as for example Manchester. When that happens, then he will resign his seat

bmacca Tue 08-May-18 18:44:10

Jalima, I'm not quite sure why you are comparing Jess Phillips to Corbyn, to see who is "posh" or not? A poster called her a "straight politician" and I expressed my view that I think she misrepresents herself

Anniebach Tue 08-May-18 18:33:06

It is a good thing it it’s true smileless, I once dated the brother of a Tory MP , he had a dream sports car ?

Jalima1108 Tue 08-May-18 18:18:20

why should it not be repeated - it's quite relevant to the discussion about Jess Phillips.

Jalima1108 Tue 08-May-18 18:17:49

Oh dear; the fact that she said it is true.
Just because she is related to aristocracy by marriage doesn't make her any posher than Jeremy Corbyn.

maryeliza54 Tue 08-May-18 18:07:07

No she didn’t Jal as you well know - she was having a pathetic untrue pop at JC which you were happy to repeat without caring whether it was true or not.

Jalima1108 Tue 08-May-18 17:58:40

Are they online? I didn't know.

Off to look

Ilovecheese Tue 08-May-18 17:49:51

Oops, sorry. Not used to a tablet!

lemongrove Tue 08-May-18 17:35:38

British Home Stores Ilovecheese ? I think they are only online now.grin
I do miss them.

Jalima1108 Tue 08-May-18 17:33:24

Just repeating what she said at the time of the leadership contest marye! grin
She obviously thought that Jeremy was posher.

maryeliza54 Tue 08-May-18 17:31:20

What is HH talking about? Her father was a consultant, her mother a solicitor and she went to St Paul’s. Anyway, regardless, that sort of talk is pathetic

Ilovecheese Tue 08-May-18 17:30:41

Heidi Alexander employed a private health lobbyist as an advisor, and she spoke at a private health conference. I think the BHS will be safer without her in Parliament

Jalima1108 Tue 08-May-18 17:24:36

As for her being a "straight politician", well she's not quite the working class Brummie that she likes to claim
I think that Jess Phillips's background is very similar to that of Corbyn but not quite as posh - although she did make it through university.
Does he also like to portray himself as a "straight politician" too?

I think Harriet Harman had him sussed when she said:
"It is quite surprising to discover that I'm, possibly, not old enough or posh enough to be the frontrunner of this current leadership election."

Smileless2012 Tue 08-May-18 17:11:06

I think some do think that Annie good job it isn't the case though as up until the last GE, Mr. S. and I always counted out one another's votes because we voted for different parties.

We did the same thing in the Brexit referendum.

Anniebach Tue 08-May-18 16:57:16

I am repeating what a friend who happens to be a Tory said, note - friend , surely no one thinks those in different parties can’t be friends

Grandad1943 Tue 08-May-18 16:50:22

Oh, anniebach a Conservative MP states that a Labour MP was driven out by the far left. How surprising, but some might think that was Tory propaganda.

However anniebach, you as a fifty year member of Labour party you are repeating that Tory propaganda on this forum. What's happened to your loyalty in regard to the party that you have supported for so many years Annie (tut, tut)
LOL

Anniebach Tue 08-May-18 15:38:47

A friend of Heidi , a Tory MP, said she was driven out by the far left

lemongrove Tue 08-May-18 14:56:27

Yes, I just heard that Annie ( and I expect that it remains
Just as useless to this day.)

Anniebach Tue 08-May-18 13:26:28

Heidi Alexander is leaving parliament, she stood down from Corbyn’s cabinet in 2016 stating ‘the whole operation was f*****g useless’

Wonder if Dan Jarvis will also stand down too

Ilovecheese Sun 06-May-18 13:12:01

Jess Philips is a very good self publicist.
She also used to boast about having told Dianne Abbot to F**k off, although she is backtracking on that now.
She also said that she would "stab Corbyn in the front", now I am not going to deliberately misunderstand that remark, what she meant was that she would oppose him publicly, and not behind his back. But imagine the outcry there would have been if a Corbyn supporter had made that remark, outrage! snide comments about a "gentler sort of politics under Corbyn".

As for Labour politicians not being 'allowed' to suggest solutions, a strong woman like Jess Philips would not be cowed by that, if she had an opinion on a solution she would not be afraid to give it.

sunseeker Sun 06-May-18 10:25:51

Thanks mostly - I hadn't heard that

mostlyharmless Sun 06-May-18 10:23:20

Corbyn is visiting Barnet on Tuesday sunseeker.

Anniebach Sun 06-May-18 08:27:32

Labour MP’s are not allowed to come up with solutions, they have to be ‘on message’ as does Corbyn, hence the written questions at PMQ,

lemon was not quoting anyone on this thread when she spoke of deselection, she asked a question , perhaps she should be deselected ?
