Hang on Lemongrove, we all know it's Bank Holiday weekend without need to be reminded of that fact by yourself. However, when the anti-semitism allegations began several weeks ago the Labour party supporters on this forum I referred to in my earlier posting stated continuously with veracity and frequency their condemnation of Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour party.

However, now we are being asked to believe that these same Labour party supporters and forum members cannot find the time to post on this thread with the same depth of commitment because it is a Bank Holiday weekend (LOL).

We are having a few days away in Devon at a hotel, and I am dictating this from a shady spot in the garden using my phone on LTE connection. Any posting only takes a few, minutes with voice recognition (not always perfect but acceptable) and I would have believed that those which felt so strongly on racism in the party they support would have found the same commitment in this disgusting matter in regard to the Conservatives.

Again, I wonder why.

Pity Lord Adonis had to post a racist cartoon about Sajid Javid! He has apologised and removed it, so that's ok!! hmm Rotten apples in both main parties it would seem!

But not only was she reinstated, she was reinstated to give the Conservatives control of the council and Brandon Lewis supported her lies that the reposting ( not retweeting) was a mistake. So a racist liar is supported by a top Conservative and the council is then in their control. This is much much much worse than ‘just’ sharing a FB post. It’s corruption.

This happened a year ago, the woman was taken to task over it and then left to stand as an independent, then reinstated
Just recently when she should not have been as people like that have no place in any political party, I believe we can all agree on that.

Yes and only at best a one line comments with few words from those forum members who were so critical of Labour over anti-semitism in the party. Some of those members state that they are Labour supporters or even members of the party.

Therefore, strange that the above members do not wish to post in the length, veracity and frequency that they have over anti-semitism in regard to this disgusting racist matter in condemnation of the whole Conservative party in the country.

Both the remark and the reinstatement are preposterous. No doubt at all about double standards. Have we had a statement from Mrs May yet? No? Funny that.
I hope the opposition parties in the relevant Pendle ward are sounding out local opinion.

As someone who votes Conservative I am as appalled by this as everyone else. If any councillor or MP I voted for posted something like this then I would not vote for them again (even if it meant Conservatives losing control of a council). As for "sharing" instead of "deleting" - total rubbish. In order to delete a post there are (usually) three dots in the top right hand corner of a post, click on that and you get an option to delete the post. To share you have to click something at the bottom of the post.

Grandad1943 Mon 07-May-18 12:11:23

It is not only that this woman is a vile racist, it is also the fact that both she and the Conservative party felt it was "alright" for this person to become once again a Conservative councillor on the very day she had stood for election as an independent.

Was it "alright" for those who had cast their votes for her believing that she would have no attachment to any party, to then find before the ballot had even finished being counted that their votes would go to support the Tory party.

The above I find totally disgusting and demonstrates to all that there is no depths that the modern Conservative party will not sink to in their quest for power and in that linked personal monetary gain.

maryeliza54 Sun 06-May-18 23:02:30

niggly if your MP comes back to you saying she meant to click delete you could tell him that’s not how FB works?

maryeliza54 Sun 06-May-18 22:59:40

Welll I’ve doubled checked on FB - to share a post you click on share and then a menu with 4 choices comes up and you have to click again to share. There is no delete choice and you have to click twice to share so there is no way what she said is true and anyone who believes her story like Brandon Lewis is either completely stupid or else complicit in her racism

trisher Sun 06-May-18 22:13:18

I never thought of that maryeliza54. I just thought no one I know would share something like that and what sort of friends has she got? Isn't there something about knowing someone by the company they keep?
Aparently she has had some diversity training-so that's alright isn't it!!!!

Eglantine21 Sun 06-May-18 21:42:02

Like Petra, I’m so stunned I can’t think what to say!
The Conservative Party thinks this is Ok?

Iam64 Sun 06-May-18 21:32:53

Totally disgusting. Of course she shouldn’t have been reinstated, or allowed to,play any part in public life again.

maryeliza54 Sun 06-May-18 20:42:51

In fact I don’t even know how you delete something someone has sent to you

maryeliza54 Sun 06-May-18 20:32:54

She’s also a liar - it’s a Facebook page and you can’t mistakenly share a post instead of deleting it.

The astonishing thing is that the Tories reinstated this councillor in the middle of the (very close) count! As without her being being reinstated as a Conservative again on midday Friday (she stood as an Independent after being suspended) it would have been a Tory loss - a “hung” seat.

Brandon Lewis defended the councillor this morning on Sky saying sending the racist tweet was a mistake.

Greg Clarke meanwhile on BBC said that she had no place in the Conservative Party.

MaizieD Sun 06-May-18 13:34:20

I'm always astounded that people even think like that these days. I thought we'd left that sort of vileness behind years ago.

Now can we start a thread about how disgraceful it is that T May hasn't immediately condemned the woman and had her drummed out of the party? Or is it only the Labour leader who is responsible for every single word that his members might utter?

Ilovecheese Sun 06-May-18 13:13:42

I am glad that this is getting a bit of publicity, imagine if this had been a Labour councillor, it would have been front page news on all the msm.

nigglynellie Sun 06-May-18 10:15:26

Yes, it was quite dreadful and I'm appalled. I cannot understand why she was re- instated and I have emailed my MP to find out what the explanation is!

petra Sun 06-May-18 10:13:16

I have no words ?
I suppose i should explain the above in case it's misconstrued. It's what I say when I just can't believe what I'm hearing or reading.

Anniebach Sun 06-May-18 10:01:07

That was foul

trisher Sun 06-May-18 09:53:26

I think it is disgusting that the Conservatives reinstated a councillor previously suspended over a racist joke in order to take control of Pendle council. The joke was disgusting and her assertion that she shared it by mistake unacceptable. That someone would even dare to send her such a joke says so much about her. You can read about it here. Just one warning the joke is completely foul and you may prefer not to read it www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/tories-win-pendle-reinstating-councillor-12481278
