Rather like posters being disgusted by a Labour Party members group who refused to allow Tessa Jowell one minute of respect and a poster change the discussion to victims of an airline crash , talking it out ?

There is a group on this forum who will see any reference to a topic that is not Tory policy or is even vaguely critical of the Conservative Party as extreme left wing or even Marxist/Communist. Strangely pearly all of that group pose on here as Labour supporters or even Labour Party members, when it is obvious to all others that they are true blue old fashioned Tories.

By example to the above I would invite forum member to look back at the early pages of this thread when some of that group attempted to "talk it out" by introducing the likes of Lord Lucan and others into the discussion. Again it was obvious that they did not want the deeds of Jacob Rees-Mogg discussed to the detriment of the Tory party.

Some may view their actions as "political tunnel vision"

My opinion of the labour party isn't printable ...lets just say the RED TORY label they get in Scotland is far nearer to what they are than socialists .

As far as some posters are concerned anyone who proposes anything which might be vaguely considered socialist mostlyharmless. It's not a term they usually discuss, just a means of stifling argument.

the problem is some label us as far left when we consider ourselves to be nearer centrist .I find it difficult to see any left wing tendencies in the labour party either in Scotland or England...I too vote SNP ..at least until Independence when we MIGHT get a labour party that IS socialist and they might get their supporters back IF they get back to their roots

Thank you. I was not deflecting any political opinions but was objecting to apparently patronising remarks.
To clarify - I never have, never will support the Tory party. In the past have voted Labour but the party is irrelevant in Scotland at the moment. Joined and worked for Libdems, hoping that Shirley Williams would be our first female PM!
Believe that JRM is so blatantly wrong for 99.9% of the population that I can't see where his support comes from. In Scotland, is there a single JRM supporter? Not that I 'm aware of.
Happy to support SNP left of centre philosophy.
The prospect that he could ever be accepted here as PM is unthinkable!

Sorry mcem but there is and always has been a group on GN who use insults and name calling as a way of deflecting arguments. They are mostly right wing (although some claim not to be). If it seemed that I was in some way accusing you of being part of that group I apologise.

No one has called Granddad a communist. I find it strange Trisher that you consider saying anyone is a communist is an insult when you have said your own grandfather was a communist, you seemed proud of him.

What is not necessary is telling posters that those voice recognition things can be used by both sexes , there are very intelligent posters here, I am not one of them, do they need advising they too can use them ‘ the little woman ‘ approach is so patronising . Neither is accusing posters of slandering Corbyn, I think I criticise Corbyn the most, I have never posted anything that is not true .

A little reading or recalling will show that I have supported your comments many times.

2 issues here - 1. a post that says some men are patronising and 2. politics in the widest (non-party) sense.
Conflate the two and you reach incorrect conclusions!

So now we have a new excuse for condemning anyone whose posts are slightly left wing. Having used Corbynista, communist, marxist, leftie and other insults we now have somone labelled as "mansplaining". What it actually means of course is that those on the right who don't like to read about the realities of the party in power can now happily dismiss yet more evidence. If supplying information is now "mansplaining" then many of the posters on this thread are doing whatever the posting equivalent of sticking their fingers in their ears is.
