Jacob Rees-Mogg Moves For Conservative Party Leadership.

With an open attack on Theresa Mays handling of the Brexit negotiations many in the media believe that Jacob Rees-Mogg has made his first open move in a bid to become Conservative party leader and Britain's next Prime Minister.

Rees-Mogg in yet another of his ongoing interviews with the media lambasted "weak" Theresa May for preparing the UK for "Brexit failure". Rees-Mogg stated that with The British negotiators going into each set of negotiations with an attitude of "we will kowtow before you, Mr Barnier in every way you possible throughout these talks" there is no hope of success for the UK. The foregoing are undoubtedly harsh words indeed even from an arch hard line Brexitier, but many believe that there is far more to Rees-Moggs words than just Brexit.

It may well be that this hard line right wing politician has witnessed the way that Jeremy Corbyn has moved the Labour party to the left and now feels he could carry out the same in the Conservative party with the exception of that move being in the opposite direction in regards to political ground.

Evidence to the above can be seen in Rees-Moggs attack on Scottish Conservative Leader Ruth Davison, for in the same interview he stated that Davison should not be allowed to marry her longtime same sex partner as planned. However, same sex marriage legislation was put before parliament and passed in 2013 under the David Cameron coalition government.

In making the above comment Rees-Mogg is undoubtedly looking to damage Ruth Davison, who also is seen as a possible next leader of the Conservative party. That stated, it is also being seen as a move against centre ground Concervatives in parliament.

In the above can be seen shades of Momentum's original moves against centre Blairite MPs in the Labour party.

Some politicians make their intentions perfectly obvious, it's called 'vote catching'. Investors by and large don't!! No irony there!!

MaizieD Wed 30-May-18 09:48:05

He's also an extreme Brexiter who promulgates false information, Jalima. That kind of cancels out the eccentricity and the 'good constituency MP' bit for me.

It's truly amazing the information some people believe that they have regarding the financial arrangements of people they've never even met!!

It's also truly amazing that some people think they know what motivates MPs without having met them.

I trust you can see the irony, nellie

Self aggrandisment and of course, our old friend money!

and the new Messiah of course
I'm so surprised to hear you say that maryeliza
Has he taken over from JC?

I just think he's eccentric and apparently a very good constituency MP.

Grandad1943 I am sure JRM has beautiful manners. I am sure he says 'please' and 'thank you' as he invests his clients money in Russia and flogs abortion pills. All the best con-men have lovely manners.

Grandad1943 Tue 29-May-18 22:05:57

Of course, some on this forum believe Jacob Rees-Mogg is a "very nice well mannered person" as they have stated any number of times.

JRMs investment company is under investigation for international sanctions breaking in regard to Russia. Those sanctions were brought in for a number of issues, including the missile downing of an airliner over the Ukraine.

However, Jacob Rees-Mogg insisted on the Andrew Marr program that his company was under legal obligation to invest their clients money in a Russian bank and elsewhere in that country as that produced the best returns to them.

However, has it not occurred the Rees-Mogg that he could simply resign from all interest in the investment company, but perhaps the money he is making from that company outweighs all else.

All the passengers on that aircraft, including many children died in that Russian attack and still the Christian faith loving Jacob Rees-Mogg places his own financial interests before all that.

To quote Tory supporters in another thread, "just shows how low some people will sink"

Maryeliza, the forums answer to St.Peter ?

Funnily enough we are all allowed to know about his financial affairs because he’s an MP (and the new Messiah of course). Course it will be a bit tricky for him to enter heaven

Jalima1108 Tue 29-May-18 20:42:02

but I do like the occasional eccentric
grin

Jalima1108 Tue 29-May-18 20:41:40

well, I wouldn't go that far ...

maryeliza54 Tue 29-May-18 20:39:25

JRM - clearly the new Messiah who can do no wrong. Bring him on ????????

Jalima1108 Tue 29-May-18 20:08:23

a prominent Brexiteer is also a major shareholder of an emerging markets investment firm.

I expect some of us even have pensions from funds invested in 'emerging markets' estc shock
I have a tiny amount invested in an 'emerging markets fund' and so far it has gone down and down and down .....
(and when I say 'tiny' I do mean tiny)

varian Tue 29-May-18 19:57:11

A tiny number of multi-millionaires, of whom JRM is one, and billionaires such as Rupert Murdoch and the Barclay brothers, stand to benefit from brexit.

All of the rest of us - you, me and all the poor turkeys who were deluded into voting for Christmas will pay the price. We should just say NO.

Jacob Rees-Mogg is in line for a huge personal windfall when Britain exits the single market

All I can say is if JRM is to be our new leader, thank God my allotted span is nearly over.
But I still fear for my family's future.

Anniebach Tue 29-May-18 19:20:24

JRM was verbally attacked by a group of yobs, he remained calm and said he believed in freedom of speech.

Corbyn was asked one polite question by a reporter and squealed ‘your Harassing. Me, and protected a couple of women hid behind a glass door.

nigglynellie Tue 29-May-18 19:18:14

It's truly amazing the information some people believe that they have regarding the financial arrangements of people they've never even met!! Like you Jalima, I too wonder how JRM will making a huge financial killing from Brexit? and would love to know his secret!!!

Jalima1108 Tue 29-May-18 18:55:26

He will also make a huge financial killing out of Brexit ( so no self interest there than)
How will that happen?
Please let me know, I could do with making even just a small financial killing

MaizieD Tue 29-May-18 14:07:18

Self aggrandisment and of course, our old friend money!

I can't see what would be the point of voting if one believed that of all politicians..

maryeliza54 Tue 29-May-18 13:45:57

FFS FFS FFS FFS

nigglynellie Tue 29-May-18 13:26:17

My gang maryeliza?!! I haven't belonged to a gang since Junior School!!, I think you'll find I've said very little about JC on a personal level. His politics are not for me as I'm sure JRM's are not for you, but other than that?!!

Anniebach Tue 29-May-18 13:12:41

Corbyn supports women’s right to abortion on demand but not a wife’s choice of a school for a son.

Anniebach Tue 29-May-18 13:10:52

What I know of Corbyn , hypocrite , plenty of proof available. I realise maryeliza you wouldn’t find McDonalds foul language offensive, you openly use it here

maryeliza54 Tue 29-May-18 13:01:30

Much like you and your gang know JC I expect
