At least Trump didn't try to hold the Queen's hand. Just cut in front of her and barged her out of the way.
Orchids and other lovely plants that don’t need a lot of attention
Well, according to him, we have voted to "break up the EU"
Erm, no, the vote was just for leaving. Just goes to show how much of a grasp he has.
I despair, that such an ill informed person is in such a position
I feel sorry for the Queen, having to be polite to such a predatory, sexually assaulting, obnoxious oik.
At least Trump didn't try to hold the Queen's hand. Just cut in front of her and barged her out of the way.
I won’t talk about politics and still less about the women’s clothes.
BUT
Trump was extremely rude in the way he walked in front of the Queen and the way he set the pace afterwards. He appears to have no manners at all. This is a shame because whenever I’ve visited the USA or met Americans in England I’ve noticed that their everyday manners are generally better than ours - especially to the elderly.
Absolutely Starbox
I didn't vote for Trump. I would have voted neither for Trump or Clinton. A great number of people in the States, however, found good reason to do so.
He is here representing his country and probably arrogant enough not to realise that he is being insulted BUT we should accord the chief representative of the USA the appropriate reception, as we have in the past done to other heads of state of whom we have strongly disapproved.
I think for China's head of state, the people protesting were kept back by the police. Who determines what sort of welcome is accorded here?
Yes, 123coco, I am most definitely pro-Farage who would've been the best choice as PM -very intelligent, able clear-sighted man.
Several posters have said that they can’t understand the hatred towards Trump, then have proceeded to list the bad things he does which cause him to be so disliked.
Let’s face it, he is not a pleasant person, but worst of all he has no idea about the things he is meant to be working on. He drivels on about nothing much in particular - except how he’s the greatest - and is usually only semi-coherent.
If he has achieved anything at all, I suspect it’s by signing papers which other, more intelligent people have pushed under his nose
His Presidency is a complete travesty.
STARBOX. Words fail me. How csn you defend this loathsome man. He is holding rallies where he encourages chants. He tells lie after lie ( yes they have been fact checked) and his whole agenda is chilling and reminiscent of the 1930”s in Europe. HE IS A VERY DANGEROUS MAN. And if you think caring fir his country means bringing about another war , then I don’t know what to say except you must be friends with that toad Farage! Really. Hes just a multiple bankrupee , serial lier and sociopath , racist and misogynistic monster!
As one who lives in the states your sentiments reflect what many of us here think. I cannot tell you how depressed many of us were when T won the electoral college vote but lost the popular vote by three million. Our system is outdated and needs to be changed. People here have stopped speaking to family and friends who still support him. It is a nightmare that I can’t wait to end. Over 2000 children still are not reunited with their families at our border. Melanie visited there twice and the last time wore a jacket that said on the back,” I don’t care. “” Do you?” Talk about controversy. And wore her five inch heels to a flood. So inappropriate.
He says one thing than does the opposite. He knew on Friday that 12 Russians were indicted for hacking into our voting system . He says nothing. He said that neo nazis were good people, he mocked a special needs person, puts people down calling them fat or old etc. I could go on and on about what is really happening here. I actually thought of moving to Canada.
What is funny is that his friend owns The Sun paper and he called it fake news. He was disrespectful to your PM and to the Queen.
I thank you for supporting us and hope our country can be whole again.
Oh jeez you would’ve been sent to the tower if you had hugged her ( the old duck) sluttygran
Well that’s s new one on me pebbles but thank you anyway . I really can’t see how her maj could be anyone’s “ hero” it’s not as though she has saved a group of boys from a cave or put a fire out is it ?
Me neither Lyndie .
Maddyone, yes she chose him, brings to mind Mrs Merton
What first attracted you to the millionaire? ?
I was glad when Trump got in as I felt he'd do stuff rather than just make PC noises. And he has. I HAVENT approved of his stance on hunting/ guns -totally oppose him. I have repeatedly rather despised his tweets and sudden big gestures (which sometimes have to be retracted.) But he's got ideas, he's all out for his country. UK can't refuse to engage with a major world power because people take the accepted "we all hate Trump" stance. Obviously he's not going to cut UK out because someone puts up an insulting blimp of him...but how does pissing him off actually achieve anything or help UK?? (beyond making those attending the protests able to preen as right-on leftie liberal luvvies who spout the accepted line?) I'm glad he's here, hope we can achieve useful dialogue with USA to help Britain. And I have NO interest in the women's dresses!
I can’t understand such vitriol against DT. We have politicians who don’t answer a question. We never know what’s going on because they effectively lie by not saying anything and yet all that energy against DT should be pointed against our government. The government don’t trade with anyone. Individuals do. If we don’t like chlorinated chicken then we have to put regulations in for trade but we are scared because our government don’t look after us . So we shout at DT. He’s an old man with an arrogant history and nobody will politely put him in his place. He is old and can’t be bothered to look at the detail but just says what he wants. We have lots of trade with the US anyway. Lots of companies here are American. People don’t want brexit to ensure they retain these jobs with these awful powerful global companies. He attacks all races and creeds. Some men of his age didn’t have respect for women at a time when the state didn’t and were racists. Hopefully they know better now. As for his wife. She’s like many women married to old powerful men. It’s a trade off. Also I think he holds TM hand because she looks unsteady and walks like she is in pain. And needs help. He is just too boastful for me. I hate that trait. Not at all humble or mannered but we are a different culture.
Lots of discussion about Melania on the thread. I feel a bit a bit sorry for her really, but I guess she chose the man. I don’t suppose she ever thought he’d end up as president when she married him. And I’m not sure she relishes being First Lady, but I do think she’s growing into the role. Of course Michelle Obama was/is stunningly beautiful, and was a wonderful First Lady, but I think Melania is simply a rather shy woman who is growing into a role she never wanted. The pictures in the press of her laughing and smiling when she’s engaging with the public, in a tightly controlled way of course, do her justice. And I think she always dresses well and attractively. I loved the VB dress she wore yesterday, and the beautiful yellow gown for dinner with the PM.
Watching the video of Trump with the Queen was a bit of an eye-opener.
Forget she’s our Queen, and look at it from the perspective of a very elderly lady. He treated her in the most disrespectful, casual and off-hand way.
I’m not much of a Royal fan, but I felt like further breaking protocol and giving the poor old duck a hug.
As for Trump and his refreshingly honest attitude, I am rather hostile to those who are so proud of ‘saying it like it is’
They are unfailingly crass and arrogant, vulgar, appallingly rude and more often than not they are ill informed to the point of ignorance.
Up yours, Donald Trump.
There has been a lot of talk about chlorinated chickens coming in from America IF we ever had a trade deal with them, but in order to transport them across the ocean, one assumes they’d need to be frozen. I’ll carry on buying my free range, organic, British chickens thank you very much. Anyone would think from the press that we’d have to buy American chickens, nobody makes you buy anything.
gillybob Most Americans are in awe .of the Queen ...having you heard of their obsession with “Tea with the Queen”? .... and anything Royal ... he said she was his Hero .... many Brits are not in awe but the Americans are ... i thought that was general knowledge
He did walk infront of the Queen. All fake news come from the gutter press called the Daily Mail,
The Queen had to walk around him. All about him. A world apart from how the Obamas were with her. Pity Phillip wasn’t there to make one of his famous gaffes. On this occasion I wouldn’t have felt mortified but ecstatic.
More fake news? The White House has released the latest on his movements -
he has left the U.K. to visit Scotland
Oops apologies that should have been to sarahcyn not 123coco
I mean your post of 20.07 last night.
Jalima, that’s not like you
Next he will have kicked her maj in the shins !
Maybe a bit of Chinese whispers 123coco the truth getting expanded and exaggerated to make the story much more juicy .
Michelled Obama always excluded class ( and graciousness at formal events , a couple who are truly in love , sorry but TM never exudes class or graciousness and despite being a Christian never exudes love either in what she says or does. I often wonder if she has ever read the New Testament with its message of tolerance and equality. She often shows too much cleavage, which perhaps wouldnt look so bad if only SHE WOULD GET FITTED FOR A BRA!
sarahcy - oh come on! Fake news reels then? Various tv and other media outlets have video's of his walking in front of the Queen, her attempts to get around him.
I don't read/like the Sun but it's the Donald's kind of paper, now he's accusing them of Fake News
gillybob - I realised you were summarising Oiers
