MaizieD, as i stated it is all in the name of......." taking back control"......that's all that matters...:-)

Chewbacca Sun 22-Jul-18 11:05:56

Should trusted sources and the Sun be in the same sentence?

MaizieD Sun 22-Jul-18 10:57:37

Doesn't anyone find it horrifying that this exit from the EU that was going to be so easy, nothing changing, according to the law breaking Vote Leave campaign, has brought us to a state where a national emergency is being seriously considered?

All for the sake of...... what?

MawBroon Sun 22-Jul-18 10:53:23

Or is it your voice recognition thingy communicating facial expression?
If so ?????

Grandad1943 Sun 22-Jul-18 10:43:48

Gawd, I am getting the same problem with random :-) being placed in text.

Must be Google problem :-)

Grandad1943 Sun 22-Jul-18 10:40:28

MaizieD, you state in your above post that a motorway (that being the M26) will have to be closed off and used as a lorry park in the event of a no customs agreement Brexit.

However, it had been admitted today by ministers and others in the Tory party that many other roads and motorways which terminate at major roll on roll of ports will also have to be closed of for the same provision to be made for heavy vehicles.

The EU has advised that the same provision plans are being made for all European major roll on roll off ports along the English channel and Similar plans are also being made for ports in Spain and Portugal.

However, what seems not have been brought forward in these admissions is the simple fact that those vehicles carry Britains trading lifeline to the rest of the world, and they would just be sitting there with perishable products deteriorating and rotting as fuel in those refrigerated trailers runs out.

Still, I suppose we can always bring back "dig for victory" and...."take back control". Whooeee :-)

I think I'll stockpile fish food, for my 2 goldfish.

"I've just googled Sun News and got 'Gagging for Sex!' "

Was there a connection there, merlot, or were you in that sort of mood already?

merlotgran Sun 22-Jul-18 10:28:01

Now it is plastered all over the Sun

10th July is hardly now. A week is a long time in politics.

jura2 Sun 22-Jul-18 10:26:00

Stock piling sex toys perhaps ? (now THAT is a joke ..)

Things are getting pretty drastic when the very party that permitted Brexit no longer talks of "project fear" and now envisages stockpiling food and a 50 year recovery period.

Whatever happened to "the easiest deal in history", "sunny uplands" and "350m a week for the NHS"?

MawBroon Sun 22-Jul-18 10:25:32

gringrin

merlotgran Sun 22-Jul-18 10:24:23

I've just googled Sun News and got 'Gagging for Sex!' hmm

jura2 Sun 22-Jul-18 10:24:05

Mind you when at our local great Café in the UK, I always 'read' the Sun and the DM just to see if I am prejudiced ... and it never fails to prove that I am not - seems they are telling the truth this time.

jura2 Sun 22-Jul-18 10:22:21

www.thesun.co.uk/news/6747231/ministers-plan-to-stockpile-processed-food/

So- is this a joke - is it really funny ?

no dear MawB- I do not read the Sun or the DM- but I do read links provided by sources I can trust.

MawBroon Sun 22-Jul-18 10:20:28

Jura a Sun reader?

Plumbing the depths indeed!

merlotgran Sun 22-Jul-18 10:19:21

Can you provide a link please, jura?

jura2 Sun 22-Jul-18 10:15:17

Now it is plastered all over the Sun - maybe some will take more heed. Those of us reporting it before the Sun did - were ot making it up for fun and glee !

MaizieD Sun 22-Jul-18 00:51:37

Gawd, I hate this ruddy tablet that keeps on inserting :-)'s in random places angry

MaizieD Sun 22-Jul-18 00:49:44

do :-):-):-P:-P you have firm evidence MaizieD of the scenario you describe, the:-)

I've already on this thread posted the links to the EU's notices to stakeholders which set out what the UK's position will be vis a vis the EU in the event of a No Deal brexit. You clearly couldn't be bothered to read them or you wouldn't be asking me for 'evidence'.

:-)Even our appalling government seems to be taking it a bit seriously, stockpiling medicines, planning a flotilla of generators, planning to close off a motorway to use as a lorry park and talking of preparing 'notifications' to UK citizens and businesses of what to expect in the event of No Deal.

I suggest that all you leavers with tory MPs write to them and have a little scoff about the government panicking unnecessarily.

Chewbacca Sat 21-Jul-18 22:54:08

Go on then Grandad, I'll bite; what's your solution?

Grandad1943 Sat 21-Jul-18 22:36:44

For those that believe that for Britain should leave the European Union without at even a customs agreement should read the recent Bloomberg report in regard to such an event taking place.

In that, the report concludes that "in the long term" Britain if trading under World Trade Organisation terms would not be a location where large-scale manufacturing could be viable into the future. Bloomberg as a stock market trader and analyst are neutral in the present debate and therefore I feel should be respected in the reports they release.

Also, it is being reported in media surrounding the transport industry that only this week has this government requested companies with extensive supply chains to map those chains and supply that information to the government especially in regard to "just in time" (JIT) supply operations.

The above has "horrified" the entire transport industry as such an operation by such companies as supermarkets and large manufacturers is a huge operation to undertake and one which a large amount of resources will have to be devoted to. Also, as many supply chains encompass many different suppliers and distribution companies in those operations, no matter the amount of resources placed at the disposal of those carrying out those mapping operations, it will take an unknown number of months to complete.

All the above has been requested by this incompetent crowd that calls itself our government with less than nine months to go before Britain is supposed to be ready to leave the European Union.

I believe this government has also stated that it will set out the plans for a "no deal" Brexit to both business and the population in general in September. That begs the question, how will they do that with the supply chain map not being available to them at that time.

Without doubt that September report will be another "Brexit work of fiction" by this government.

I will try to look up the Bloomberg report referred to and post a link in this thread.

Who takes either Boris or JRM seriously? Both have agendas and both are a law unto themselves.

MawBroon Sat 21-Jul-18 19:33:19

I think I was perfectly clear why I take what JRM says with a pinch of salt.
