Hear, hear kittylester

There is a very good word to describe the concept of taking pleasure in the misfortunes of others.

It is Schadenfreude
We have the Germans to thank for that!

I really don't see the point of threads like this.

Some Remainers are so accusatory that I feel as though I did something wrong......and I also voted remain. What do threads like this achieve? We have voted to leave by a small majority, so leave we must and just get on with it.

All this aggressive talk of stockpiling and doom laden predictions of jammed, or empty ports, is ridiculous.

some of the less intelligent Brexitiers (sic) being on here

Oo you calling fick Grandad?

lemongrove Wed 18-Jul-18 23:56:49

I always give in to temptation Day6.....I find it saves time.

Jalima1108 Wed 18-Jul-18 23:55:24

Do you think that a 2 years past sell-by-date jar of picked onions will still be OK next year?

Jalima1108 Wed 18-Jul-18 23:53:50

or just tuna (no bread)

Day6 Wed 18-Jul-18 23:53:44

Now I need a midnight snack of crumpets! And tea!

Get thee behind me you temptresses! grin

SingingSilver Wed 18-Jul-18 23:52:38

I've kind of started, just because I'm a natural pessimist. I'm including one extra tin with each shop, stuff that wouldn't need to be heated and lasts ages, so corned beef, tuna, rice pudding. If everything goes smoothly I'll be eating a lot of tuna sandwiches next year...

Mrs May has announced she will soon be issuing technical notices to businesses and HOUSEHOLDS in the event there is a no deal!

When Nicenanny suggested that could be fake news,
jura, you asked for Links to that effect Nicenanny please.

Please could we have a link to Mrs May's announcement, as I seem to have missed it, jura and missed any link on here.
Thank you.

Good one Jalima grin
Luckily I had stockpiled crumpets and lemonade so was totally unworried.

MissAdventure Wed 18-Jul-18 23:41:21

grin

Jalima1108 Wed 18-Jul-18 23:39:57

the recent CO 2 shortage
Was it all a load of hot air lemongrove?

lemongrove Wed 18-Jul-18 23:36:38

I agree Day6 but has been ever thus ( since two years ago.)
MissA ? I do like that.
All it takes is a rumour of say ‘a ketchup shortage’ and it will be so, as the nation fill their cupboards with the stuff.
Although the recent CO 2 shortage for a week or so ( no lemonade or crumpets!) seemed to go ok.

Jalima1108 Wed 18-Jul-18 23:33:55

I prefer Cornish or Somerset Brie to French

Not being pro or anti EU there - just saying ....
With Scottish biscuits please, if you don't mind, anno

MissAdventure Wed 18-Jul-18 23:29:28

Blessed are the cheesemakers..

Grandad1943 Wed 18-Jul-18 23:28:56

Well, off to bed for me, had most of the day off work but never would I have believed that I could enjoy myself so much on this forum.

So thanks to the Brexitiers for such great entertainment, as they write such wonderful fiction. grin

Such glee emanating from posts from the prophets of doom!

Yes, I too am smiling at their utter delight Maw. It's a strange sort of mindset I think - they are delighted to imagine things going wrong for the UK. They've been sour-pusses throughout the negotiations, and they've supported parliamentarians who support Brussels and those Lords who have done their utmost to put a spanner in the works at every turn.

I do know from my French friends, who happen to have family in Italy too, that EU members states don't want us to leave the EU because of the amount of money we provide (billions) in propping up the institution. I am not sure they'll be happy to fill up the coffers of Brussels when we've gone.

And don't tell me the wine and cheese-makers of Europe won't want to continue selling to their huge markets in the UK.

It's Project Fear from the usual suspects until the ink on the paper is dry, isn't it?

I find it very sad that these people do not want to blow the UK trumpet - they'd rather support Juncker and Merkel.

It's a bit like all those businesses who threatened/tried to blackmail the Govt, saying if we voted to leave the EU they'd be shipping out of the UK. They are still here and surprise, surprise, we still have overseas investment in the capital and manufacturing bases around the UK. Strange how the MASSIVE contract the Brits recently won with regard to a major Australian warships building programme was hardly mentioned by the BBC, Guardian, Mirror etc....It certainly wasn't celebrated by pro EU groups. They must have been fuming grin

We'll survive our separation from the EU, of course we will. There will be a wobbly transition I dare say but Leavers expected it. Remainers are rejoicing that we are doomed....and cannot wait for their imagined hardship to hit us, as Jura and Maizie's opening posts illustrate. How very strange.

lemongrove Wed 18-Jul-18 23:25:37

I hope there won’t be a porridge oats shortage, or I may have to move to Scotland myself.

Jalima1108 Wed 18-Jul-18 23:24:36

Will you export some Scottish raspberries to us please anno?
and what about DH's whisky? It is non-perishable.

Jalima1108 Wed 18-Jul-18 23:23:21

Are your posts invisible to Grandad, MaizieD - he can't seem to find them!

MissAdventure Wed 18-Jul-18 23:22:32

smile

Jalima1108 Wed 18-Jul-18 23:21:47

plenty of oats though, presumably.

lemongrove Wed 18-Jul-18 23:21:01

No, anno why would we? You will do as you please, just like anyone else. It’s very cold up there though ( beyond the wall.)

Jalima1108 Wed 18-Jul-18 23:17:13

Yes, lemongrove, there was a sugar shortage because of a reduction in imports from Caribbean countries because they were sending more to America I think; I think also that is when British sugar beet production was increased.

annodomini Wed 18-Jul-18 23:16:23

I plan to re-migrate to Scotland, independent and part of the EU. You think I'm joking?
