Brexit has morphed into Fashion and Perfume

Varian, I too am a Diorissimo fan. A friend sprayed me with some her mother had been given when we were both 16 and off to a Sixth form dance and it has been my favourite perfume ever since. I used to use alternative lily-of-the- valley scented perfumes for many years as I could not afford the real thing, but they never cut the mustard.

Now I buy it on Brittany Ferries when we go to France. Not cheap, but much cheaper, even than in France.

MOnica I don't like Galliano either. The last exhibition we went to had lots and was a bit disappointing. suzied it isn't the Paris exhibition - it is in the Dior family summer home perched on the cliffs in Granville, with a lovely rose garden. No perfume iirc Varian but well worth a visit. (We could even tear down the Frexit poster ?).

Petra sorry if a bit off thread but do you have any idea why JLR have changed the dates of their summer shut down this year ? They are usually in line with Nissan and have moved back by one week this year meaning that their tiered suppliers cannot give their own workers (like my poor DiL) 2 weeks summer holiday . All sorts of rumours in the industry to do with Brexit and bringing it in line with EU shut downs etc. Which could be true but could be just scare mongering .

The Dior exhibition is coming to the V and A next year. It had massive queues in Paris when it was on there.

Do they sell Diorissimo (my favourite perfume) at a bargain price? It is getting harder to find at the Duty Free.

'Treasures of Dior', All the classics and not too much Galliano (my pet hat)e. 6/10 I think. The best one ever, I even bought the book, was Dior and Impressionism.

Is it a good one this year?

Mamie, mine too. We go every year to see the changing exhibitions. and walk through the gardens, especially when the roses are out.

Goodness MOnica where was it - I haven't seen any! I have yet to hear anyone say that they think Frexit would be a good idea; they all say that if they ever thought about it they have now changed their minds "on a vu la merde qui est Brexit". ?

We're going to Normandy in a couple of weeks. I shall have to look out for them.

We saw our first Frexit poster while we were in France last week.

I would also be worried if I was living in mainland Europe, petra but I am far more worried because I live in the UK.

Nearly half of all flights into uk airspace are from overseas registered airlines.
They will also have a problem if they are taking the polar route over the North Atlantic as our CAA control 70% of that.

Well at one time we were all very worried about air miles and buying locally, but apparently that no longer matters.

It is interesting to look at the relationship between market share and distance. The world over, nations trade most with their nearest neighbours. Our nearest neighbours are our fellow EU members.

The consequenses of losing most of our trade overnight next March could be catastrophic. Surely a vote when the terms are known, allowing people to make an informed choice is prefereable to blindly following the will of Putin, the people who for one reason or another voted to leave in 2016.

Many foreign companies and foreign purchased UK companies are here because we are in the EU and because English is now the Lingua Franca and most top managers have it as their second language.

However, once the main reason they moved to the UK - its membership of the EU - goes that will not stop them making the sensible business solution of building new plants in EU countries and gradually withdrawing from the UK market. Some, like Jaguar Landrover, have already made that decision.

I am not a supporter of another referendum but as the evidence builds up for the utterly incompetent and deliberately misleading and frequently dishonest way both sides put their cases and the extent that the electorate was lied to, again by both sides. The justification for a complete rerun of the referendum, with international observers in the country able to comment on the arguments of both sides and all those individuals and companies involved the first time round banned from any involvement in the campaign, is becoming compelling.

This is indeed alarming, Granny23. The Scottish government has done well to avoid this sort of dangerous privatisation.

Is this an example of reverse outsourcing? Or is it fake news? I have never heard anything on this subject before and am hoping that this is simply scarmongering, or at the very least does not apply to the Scottish Blood Transfusion Service.

Anyone have further information?
