Parliament or Movement politics

I listened to a debate yesterday and the most interesting contribution was from Ash Sarkar. She likened Parliament to the old fashioned Oxbridge debating societies, and said it was out of date. She spoke about Movement Politics and how they were growing. I think it's a very interesting area. With improved communications is it perhaps the way forward for democracy?
