I think I must be missing something here.

If Aldi and Lidl want to import food from the EU into the UK will they be exempt from tariffs that UK-based supermarkets may have to pay?
What about the food that is at present sourced in the EU by UK-based supermarkets? Will that be subject to different tariffs that Lidl and Aldi will not, for some reason, have to pay when they import similar food?

Will there be tariffs on food transported between the UK and EU anyway? Will UK food being exported to the EU be subject to tariffs too?
Presumably, as it is a two-way thing and in the interests of both the UK and the EU, a deal will be sought.

Apparently Prittsticks are 'safe for young children ' - so are they safe for the planet?

Why on earth would they be in the same position as other UK food retailers? They will still be part of EU, without tariffs or restrictions.

Aldi have made a business decision to invest in the UK, if and when food shortages happen, they will be in the same position as every other food retailer in the UK.

Would not Aldi and Lidl find it just as difficult to import food ?

If food prices should happen to rise would not Lidl and Aldi find that a problem also?

Why would they take the gamble of spending millions on opening new stores as they have said they will do surely they would be taking stock and putting new store openings on hold, not opening more.

Am I getting confused?
