just a bit of 'mithering' here:

Chewbacca Sun 14-Oct-18 22:09:20

That's true enough oldbatty! smile

oldbatty Sun 14-Oct-18 22:06:53

Oh well it's fun to mix things up a bit sometimes.

lemongrove Sun 14-Oct-18 21:54:01

So, if you think there is a ‘coterie’ you immediately start singing The Red Flag? Makes sense...grin

Chewbacca Sun 14-Oct-18 20:43:46

Ok smile

oldbatty Sun 14-Oct-18 20:40:22

sorry but there is a bit of a coterie on here sometimes.

Chewbacca Sun 14-Oct-18 20:35:23

Eh? I was perfectly pleasant, and not at all sarcastic, when I asked why the Marxist lyrics earlier oldbatty. I genuinely couldn't see the connection. And still can't, to be fair.

oldbatty Sun 14-Oct-18 20:32:58

here's my answer, not on a postcard, I can say what I like and post what I like and some of you are downright unpleasant and sarcastic.

POGS Sun 14-Oct-18 20:29:33

Oh

So no relevance to anything on this thread or poster.
[confused ]

MawBroon Sun 14-Oct-18 20:28:44

And the connection with this thread is....?
(Answers on a postcard)

oldbatty Sun 14-Oct-18 20:25:25

I like it. I like what it says. I like the idea of redistribution of wealth.

Jalima1108 Sun 14-Oct-18 20:19:36

it's such a good tune POGS - especially when singing about Christmas trees
wink

Chewbacca Sun 14-Oct-18 20:18:10

I asked that ages ago POGS but answer came their none. I think its meant to be cryptic.

POGS Sun 14-Oct-18 20:16:33

oldbatty

Why did you post lyrics from The Red Flag?

petra Sun 14-Oct-18 20:14:32

Jalima
No, your not missing anything. I'm sure many of us are thinking the same thing.

Jalima1108 Sun 14-Oct-18 20:13:19

I thought the links were to those who were concerned, sensible, measured and determined to find a solution to what could be a problem.

Very different to some of the 'mitherings' on this thread.

Fennel Sun 14-Oct-18 19:41:16

"So the links of the serious concerns by medical and pharmaceutical experts represent 'running around like a headless chicken'. "
Jura - you just don't 'get it' sad.

MawBroon Sun 14-Oct-18 19:40:51

Great post POGS smile

Chewbacca Sun 14-Oct-18 19:35:24

There's lot missing here Jalima. Sanity and common sense being two of them.

Jalima1108 Sun 14-Oct-18 19:28:33

we are an island,
confused yet again
I thought Switzerland was land-locked.
Am I missing something here?

Jalima1108 Sun 14-Oct-18 19:27:40

So the links of the serious concerns by medical and pharmaceutical experts represent 'running around like a headless chicken'.

No!! Not them!
They are working towards a sensible solution

Jalima1108 Sun 14-Oct-18 19:26:32

Added to which, the EU must be trying to come to a solution too, as they import more drugs from us than we do from them.
And - in addition to that problem - there is a worldwide shortage of essential drugs which is affecting all countries.

Jalima1108 Sun 14-Oct-18 19:25:35

It certainly doesn't help when someone adds to the panic, getting all melodramatic, running around like a headless chicken.
fennel absolutely right

And there is absolutely nothing we can do except rely on politicians and the experts such as those in the link.

POGS Sun 14-Oct-18 19:22:13

jura

These are some of your posts on the thread you started and I am not surprised flack followed.:-

" If you or your family need regular supplies of medicine- you should realise that 'mithering' about the price of baked beans or spam, wherever you choose to buy them ...maybe the least of your worries,"
----

" It seems we have such a healthy ageing community on GN- so healthy and fit that none of them are concerned that medicines and cancer treatment, will be in short, or no supply if we get a no Deal Brexit.

They don't sell them at Aldi btw."
---

" I am glad I will be able to get hold of Epipens for my grandson, who is highly anaphylactic to eggs. Not quite sure how I will get them over to him, as the Tunnel might close, the M26 will be a car park, ferries will be blocked, and no flights - but I will find a way. Better get some swimming practice.

I might even bring insulin for a relative who is a staunch Brexiter ... Won't be able to carry radiotherapy treatment for those with cancer though sad
---

My very best friend here has just been diagnosed with cancer- and I am so so glad he lives here and will have access to the best treatment, medicines and if required raditation therapy.

Please, get in touch with any of your friends suffering from cancer- and tell them not to mither, crazily, or otherwise.
---

" The Epipen current shortage may well not be due to Brexit - but the impossibility of importing Epipens from EU will be."
--

" You should perhaps have the courage to go and tell mothers afraid their kid will not get their insulin, epipens or cancer therapy to chill- please do if you are brave enough."
--

Jura you initiated this thread and it was you who initially used the word ' mithering' so if that word is repeated you only have yourself to blame .

As for your posts I think I will use your own words to another poster this morning .

" Those words were used to shock - and they are truly shocking with regard to the real issues discussed, and should have never been used. "

As for whether posters voted Remain /Leave, Left/Right has nothing to do with decency and I feel the old adage " If you say it, own it " is worth remembering.

jura2 Sun 14-Oct-18 19:08:00

So the links of the serious concerns by medical and pharmaceutical experts represent 'running around like a headless chicken'.

We could argue if it is better to ignore the issues, and put head in sand, in order not to worry people- or listen to the concerns of experts to try and mitigate the consequences?

Thas would be a valid debate. And I'd go for second option.

Agreed too that the Epipen crisis is not due to Brexit- but as we are an island, Brexit will make supply much more difficult- due to flying and port/transport issues- and low currency. If there is world shortage - will manufacturers sell to those which are easy to reach and who have a high currency to pay a higher price?

Insulin comes from the EU, and so do isotopes for radiation cancer treatment. They will prioritise their partners, and those within easy reach. They will not send nuclear material to those that are not direct partners. They both cannot be stored for long periods of time, so stockpiling can only be for short periods.

Chewbacca Sun 14-Oct-18 18:57:05

Marxism? Why? hmm
