I do not have to answer for Anniebach as to what she posts or does not post but I as sure as hell will defend 'ANY ' poster from what was said .

I cannot defend your accusation because of this bloody deletion episode that will now allow the distorting of facts.

I most certainly did not report anything, I prefer posts to stay in situ for others to read how and who said what. My opinion has always been deleting of posts by GNHQ makes everybody look guilty when it is one poster in this case that called another poster a dispicable word.

They were certainly NOT at ' posters request' if that means me. It may well have been ' at another posters request ' which is a hell of lot different.

I said nothing I would not repeat as I did not make any abusive remark when defending another posters honour from a very nasty accusation.

Regarding DA's work record. Many of the jobs she had e.g in the media, TV are usually offered on short term contracts. It's the nature of the industry. I imagine if she had continued in the Civil Service she would be being accused of having too narrow a level of experience. She can't win can she? But don't worry it's nothing to do with her being black or a woman.

All this about work experience - when I was a very naive student of politics and economics no less, we had a local MP visiting for a meal, chat etc.
During the buffet type meal I had the cheek/ arrogance of youth to ask him if he had studied politics, and what was his work record? I can't remember his reply, but I do remember he smiled.
I wonder who it was?

That is why the word ' IF ' the prosal is passed has been used.

It is accepted the proposal is not set in concrete but it has been interesting to discuss who/what/when the proposal will apply to , OR NOT.

POGS but if a person finds a post to be racist or offensive they do need to say so. Maybe report it to GNHQ too. It is their role to pronounce on inappropriate posts.

It would seem that in regard to employment that many on this thread are "out of touch" with today's common employment and training practices. In that, it is not unusual for a person to be employed by a company and then after a period of time, that person may look for advancement within that company. However, that advancement or training may not be available within that company, and the employee will look for that advancement or training within an alternative employer.

In the above, the employee will leave his original employer on a very amicable basis for advancement elsewhere, and may even return after a further period of time to gain even more advancement as new employment opportunities present themselves.

The foregoing means that persons very often change their employers these days on a frequent basis with every two years on average not being unusual. Therefore, Diane Abbott's employment record would not be uncommon in present times and many prospective employers would view such a CV as a great asset if the frequent change of employer had been used to gain new skills and qualifications.

Regarding the Formby proposals concerning MP candidates having to complete a minimum period of time in occupations outside that Palace of Westminster or politics in general, then as started any number of times in this thread, it is an outline proposal. In that, Formby has asked the above question without any caveat in regards to who or what occupations or personal status may be debarred, or what employment or personal status may be allowed.

In the above, the Labour movement in the country is being by asked by way of the constituency/district parties and the trade unions to just state if they basically agree that a person should gain minimum period of life experience in occupations outside of politics before they can put themselves forward as a parliamentary candidate.

Should the above bodies accept the Formby discussion proposal as a correct outline principle, then in all probability, the Labour NEC will set up a grouping to look at all the problems that may be involved in making the proposal firm Labour policy. In that, obviously, Jenney Formby's office would be heavily involved due to having well-established contacts with all sections of the Labour movement.

Day6 you could say exactly the opposite about DA's work experience that she has in fact packed into 11 years a wide range of experiences which would make a more informed MP.

This could have been an interesting exchange of views and suggestions as to how much experience outside politics a candidate should have before standing for election.
Instead it seems to have stuck with this 10 year suggestion and become another excuse to have a go at Dianne Abbot and Jenny Formby.

Yes he was and a good MP but he would not be selected now if Formby’s 10 years in employment is brought into party requirements.

Joelsnan I was thinking the same thing about Diane Abbot's job history. There was no staying power or time for career development, if she was in all of those roles within ten years of leaving University but stayed in each for less than two years?

Theresa May was a local councillor in Merton and sat on the same Governing Board as I did. She was and LA governor I was a parent governor. She wore snazzy shoes then!

It seems logical that many MP will have been involved in some political activity before standing in a GE , e.g.in Trade Unions, Professional Organisations , Local Councils or charities etc.. They may have got involved via their work and have been motivated by the desire to improve/change conditions etc for themselves and their communities.. I don't think that is unreasonable.. like an apprenticeship really and may find themselves the candidate more by chance than choice! I think I have less confidence in MPs who appear to just want to be an MP & have a career plan to achieve that: political researcher in Westminster , work for a political party etc.
Probably totally illogical if I actually analysed data of who was an effective MP!

If I was reviewing that work record for a job candidate I would be wondering about six jobs in eleven years. None exceeding much more than two years.
