Well, do you?

Chewbacca- read the thread, and all will be clear. Yes I made a mistake in the title, but it is all clear now.

It is about all of them, JC, Brexit, cake and have it, and unicorns too. And I am saying it can't and won't happen. What do you think? Can it pull it off?

henetha Sat 09-Feb-19 10:09:18

No. Well, I hope not.

Anniebach Sat 09-Feb-19 10:07:32

No

Chewbacca Sat 09-Feb-19 10:06:16

I'd like to join this discussion. Sadly, I can't make head nor tail of it. Is it about JC, Brexit, cake or unicorns? I only have knowledge of one of them.

Pedant alert - the accurate phrase is “ you can’t eat your cake and have it”, for some reason in common usage it has become “ you can’t have your cake and eat it”, which of course you can , but you are then without cake at the end. ??

For 42 years you had such a miserable life waiting for the day we left the EU Beau? Why on earth were you so unhappy for all those years?

Beau Fri 08-Feb-19 23:38:32

Doesn't our saying mean to eat your cake yet still have it? That's what I always thought. ?
My answer is no, can't stand JC and if he was ever to become PM I know for sure DD and SIL would emigrate to Dubai or similar and I would be homeless and lose daily care of my DGS so I REALLY cannot bear to think if it. ?
I am a dyed in the wool leaver and waited 42 years to have my say - I prefer to leave on WTO terms and take the short term pain.

mcem Fri 08-Feb-19 23:24:05

No. Now wasn't that clear and succinct?

jura2 Fri 08-Feb-19 18:14:09

No need now mcem, as my mistake has been pointed out and corrected. We now all know what I meant- so we can just discuss the question. Can Jeremy Corbyn deliver a new deal, with all the rights and none of the responsibilities.

I say a firm 'NO'. And you mcem?

Lily65 Fri 08-Feb-19 17:39:26

I think we are stuffed.

mcem Fri 08-Feb-19 17:35:31

What a silly title!
Attempting to be cryptic and witty but instead it's obscure and misleading!
Best thing to do is have it deleted and start again ( If you want to have anything like a meaningful discussion)!

jura2 Fri 08-Feb-19 16:42:24

Oh heads will roll, lemon- metaphorically. Which one/s will roll first, is the question.

jura2 Fri 08-Feb-19 16:41:16

Pardon? Not sure what you wanted to say Fennel, sorry.

Je ne comprends toujours pas - I still do not understand?

lemongrove Fri 08-Feb-19 16:23:44

grin

Fennel Fri 08-Feb-19 16:22:29

Je ne comprends toujours.

lemongrove Fri 08-Feb-19 16:12:44

Yes jura..no doubt Marie Antoinette did say brioche, or even gateau, the trouble is, it lead to heads rolling.

jura2 Fri 08-Feb-19 16:12:05

Not really, as we know she can't.

The point of this thread is to question whether JC's belief that he could if and when (not likely) in charge?

And my answer is a clear 'NO' - a deal that would give the UK all th rights without any of the responsibilities will not, and cannot, ever be on offer- to Mrs May or Sieur Corbyn- or anyone else for that matter.

Ilovecheese Fri 08-Feb-19 16:08:38

Spot on PECS
Neither Jeremy Corbyn not Mrs May can get a perfect deal from Brexit.

But as Mrs May is the one doing the negotiating wouldn't it be more relevant to ask if she can get a soft cake and eat it la unicorn.

jura2 Fri 08-Feb-19 16:07:49

'Brioche' Lemon 'Brioche'

jura2 Fri 08-Feb-19 16:07:14

I wouldn't dare judge YOUR language Day6, that would be rude

'And isn't that phrase 'to have cake and eat it' a daft one?'

In French we say 'to have the butter and the money for the butter' - much more logical, I agree ;)

PECS Fri 08-Feb-19 16:01:45

It is neither in JCs nor TMs gift, with or without unicorns, to get a "soft cake" . The magic recipe is in the hands of others. UK threw it away on the day of the referendum. The attitude that UK was an indispensable asset was an elementary error of judgement .

Charleygirl5 Fri 08-Feb-19 15:54:49

Just let me know when the 30th of March arrives with the result.

lemongrove Fri 08-Feb-19 15:51:45

I say ‘let them eat cake’ grin?

Baggs Fri 08-Feb-19 15:42:47

Thanks, maizie.

Well, for what it's worth then, my answer is no.

Baggs Fri 08-Feb-19 15:41:51

'Spect it's my lack of faith....

....that unicorns eat cake.

On the other hand, I have just eaten some cake that was soft in some places and harder (e.g. where the chopped hazelnuts were encountered) in others.

No wiser.
