For those of you who feel strongly: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/239706

many of us wonder what the delay is in charging those involved
Answer: if they charge them with electoral fraud, they will have to charge the remain campaign with the same, because they did the same.
the remain campaign were complacent and didn't stand up to them as they should
It's never wise to accuse someone of a 'crime' when your committing the same crime.

Nonnie Sat 16-Feb-19 16:41:48

I think its about as likely to be debated as the authorities are to come to any conclusions about the electoral fraud before March 29th.

lemongrove Sat 16-Feb-19 16:16:15

Oh it may be debated, but will be rejected as an outcome.

Nonnie Sat 16-Feb-19 16:13:32

Lemon if we have democracy then it should at least be debated in Parliament. I have my doubt that we do though because there is an overwhelming number of people saying that what is on offer is not what they voted for that the only democratic thing to do is give people a vote on what sort of deal is on offer.

lemongrove Sat 16-Feb-19 16:00:11

100,000 signing an online petition against over 17 million votes to leave the EU.
Highly unlikely this petition will get anywhere.

Ginny42 Sat 16-Feb-19 15:56:47

Well the petition has now gone beyond 100,000 signatures and the request that if no deal is struck by February 27th that Article 50 be revoked should be debated in Parliament.

Let's put an end to this impasse and get on with putting the country back to re-lies days.

GrandmaKT Sat 16-Feb-19 15:56:29

It's beaten the 100,000 target! Let's hope it gets a debate in parliament.

1inamillion Sat 16-Feb-19 10:29:23

I shan't Nonnie ?

Nonnie Sat 16-Feb-19 10:00:29

linamillion your opinion is as valid as anyone else's but you should not withdraw because someone doesn't agree with you.

trisher Sat 16-Feb-19 09:46:13

93,145- the target is close. Let's keep hoping!

1inamillion Sat 16-Feb-19 09:43:51

Pax Nonnie. Just giving my point of view.
I like reading both points of view and thought I'd give mine, not sure I will again though.

Nonnie Sat 16-Feb-19 09:27:11

linamillion I have friends in 4 EU countries and they are all appalled at what is happening, none of them have found anyone who would agree with ^Actually there is a lot of admiration for us standing up to Brussels he says.
Also the pro Brexit secretaries were stymied by anti Brexit civil servants^ although the one in France said that the French are not really interested in us just their own political issues.

Nonnie Sat 16-Feb-19 09:24:26

SueH pleas allow me to explain what actually happened. There was electoral fraud by the Leave campaign which has been proven and many of us wonder what the delay is in charging those involved. We were lied to time and time again and imo the Remain campaign were complacent and didn't stand up to them as they should. Those who campaigned to leave said there was a plan and we would get wonderful trade deals as in have our cake and eat it. It should have been obvious that this could never happen but people were taken in by such claims. There was also much talking of stopping immigration which implied stopping brown people coming to the UK. They didn't get it across that it was EU immigration not all immigration. Much talk of 'taking back control' but not what of. Many of the reasons why people voted to leave were either wrong or completely silly, the EU has not ruled that bananas must be straight, just one example. Another was because one of the EU leaders drinks too much. Such 'reasons' are irrational and it has been rather difficult to get sensible debate from many leavers. I could go on but that should give you a picture.

1inamillion Sat 16-Feb-19 09:10:09

I will not be signing.

There will not be Armageddon if we leave with no deal.
European countries want to trade with us and like our products too much. DS travels a lot to Europe on business and always maintains that they need us more than we need them.
Actually there is a lot of admiration for us standing up to Brussels he says.
Also the pro Brexit secretaries were stymied by anti Brexit civil servants.
I could go on but fear for my blood pressure.

oldgoat Sat 16-Feb-19 08:45:29

Less than 8,000 names needed on this petition now, but will it be ignored, like the 800,000 who rallied against Brexit?
We need a People's vote!

SueH49 Sat 16-Feb-19 01:07:57

OK I'm probably sticking my neck out here and it really does not affect me because I do not live in the UK BUT didn't a majority of people vote to leave the EU even though there was no plan put in place and hence presented before they voted? To me that indicates a majority of people wanted to leave. It seems, from afar, that many people were sure the vote would be to stay and so did not bother to vote. We have compulsory voting in Australia so this is a little bewildering for me, however had those people voted the outcome may have been different but surely one cannot complain about the result when they could not be bothered to participate and the result goes against what they would have preferred. This may be simplistic but I cannot see why something as important as this would not have been dealt with by setting up a group that represented all political parties and maybe others to come to a viable agreement.
No doubt whatever happens there will be some unsettled times ahead for the UK but probably no more so than when the UK joined the EU.
Whatever happens now I'm sure the UK will manage to keep supplies of food etc available, not everything comes from the EU countries. The old adage what does not kill you makes you stronger may be the outcome here and I cannot see the rest of the world deserting the UK.

I wouldn't be surprised if some MPs have signed!

jura2 Fri 15-Feb-19 22:29:17

Signed and shared. Some friends and family have told me they have signed but do not dare share because of retaliation fears from family and work. How sad.

It didn't take Greece very long to organise a referendum when they were in the middle of their financial crisis...
