Misreading the country?

It seems to me from talking to others and just listening in on conversations on buses and in shops etc that there is an overwhelming feeling that Westminster should just get on with it! This isn't a brexit/remainer thread. It's just expressing concern that Westminster is in its own little mixed up bubble and is just ignoring the people they're supposed to represent ie the great British public.

Well I guess Jane , that they are representing the Electorate , because we the country are as divided over this as are the politicians & therefore they are representative of the divisions that already exist.

The latest polls show a 9 point majority. 54% Remin, only 45% leave.

Each of the parties want their own way and within them the members want their own way. The decision made as a result of the Brexit vote is legal whereas all the votes taken in the Commons over the past couple of weeks have no legal standing. But, again the parties all want their own way so mo challenge is going to happen. As for SNP,I do chuckle at them with all their objections as after all, if their referendum had been for independence they would already be out of the EU with no deal. I am so fed up with it I hope the EU just tell us to go jump and we have to make an actual decision. Politics aside Mrs May must have enormous stamina given the schedule she has had recently.

The above question is for piscarii but any Leavers are free to answer it...

Maybe the way we are being treated by Brussels is part of the reason why more than half of voters wanted to leave?

Well, for a start, Brussels wasn't actually treating us as they are now before we voted to leave (despite the lies the leave campaigns told you).

Can you tell us how you expected Brussels to 'treat us' after the vote. and how that differs from 'they way they are treating us' now? What did you want from the leaving 'deal'?

piscarii Thu 14-Mar-19 20:08:52

It isn’t just our politicians you know - what about that lot in Europe? This mess we’re in isn’t entirely of our making is it? There are 2 sides in these so called ‘negotiations’, you know.
